  1. Hi all members,

During a US embassy interview for tourist visa, my aunt told Consulate that she would stay here for 3 weeks. While in the US, she changed her mind and added 2 more weeks when she bought a return ticket, she wanted to stay pass Thanksgiving holiday. So her total trip is 5 weeks instead of 3 weeks. Will this hurt next time she is apply for tourist visa? Her tourist visa allow her to stay here for six months. Have anyone in this situation before.

    Thanks,

  2. Sorry I can't help you with this. I put "document type" other. The wife didn't have a passport then.

I just called travel agent and was told that you must go with the format what is on the visa and passport.

  3. to Danthong,

Place of issued: city and state, just put down city and province where your spouse applied for passport. In case of Ho Chi Minh, just input Ho Chi Minh for city. For state input check mark in the box for "no state or something like that"

  4. I just bought ticket through travel agent for my mother going to be here as a tourist. On visa and passport her name is in vn format even when I filled out DS-160 I went with US format. It goes as Hoang Danh. Hoang is Middle and Danh is first name. Travel agent here is US also went with vn format. Surprisely when I checked the ticket with AA.com it showed as Danh is middle and Hoang as first. Just don't know why, I going to give an agent a call and get back with you.

What I had concern is that when your spouse will arrive here the Border Control will give your spouse middle name as first.

  5. no matter how u filled out on visa application, the us consulate go with vn custom name format. what interesting part is that when your spouse arrives at the airport, the us custom does not know the recent consulate change format and choose spouse middle name as first name. It happened to some people since last year.

This glit has to do with inconsistency between consulate and us customs border

  6. Hi all VJ members,

Do we mail Affidavit of Support package and Civil Documents package to NVC on separate envelope or within one envelope? The reason I asked because I had received an attached file from NVC with instructions on how to send them. It has a page with a checklist of items, and both Affidavit of Support package and Civil Documents package fit on one page. I have attached a pic for reference. Last year my friend mailed separately. How you mailed them recently: in 1 envelope or in separate envelope?

P/S I currently have 2 document cover sheets, one for Civil document package and one for Affidavit of Support package.
    Thank you.

  8. Hi all visajourney members,

I filled out DS-160 visa for my mother-in-law to visit me and my spouse as a tourist (not business matter) back in July and remembered correctly that online form did not have the option for picking B-2 type for tourist. DS-160 has several options: B1 for business, B1/B2 for business and tourist, and "I don't know if it has the third option back then." Online DS-160 has a third option now labeled as "tourist/medical treatment" my friend told me. After my mother-in-law had paid the visa fee in Vietnam, I logged-in back to the ustraveldocs.com and scheduled the appointment and saw the B2 option for pleasure (the other options were B1 and B1/B2). So I chose this option. My question is if Consulate Office grant my mother-in-law B1/B2 (business and tourist), will Custom Border Control deny her entry strictly because of her tourist purpose? I did some research and though you applied for tourist visa, US Embassy will give you B1/B2 anyway. Is it correct? My mother-in-law is 68 now and has ties back home (husband, home, children).

    Thank you,

    Hieuminh

  9. Hi all visajourney members,

I think I should post my topic us tourist visa here because it related to Vietnam. 10. skype chat log, emails, or any correspondents send about 10 pages for each type type during your time span, Use 3-month period method and front-load mail in petition. Print both sides to reduce your load. I used staples to bind them up for skype log, emails, phone logs. I put pics on A4 papers, 2 on each side and write description (date and what) about each pics (about 20 piccs). Last, I put everything in order with a coversheet listed what you had.

  11. on the I-134 form, if i make over >100K, should i bother filling out the other fields like savings?

recent 3 months paystubs and recent 3 month bank statements are sufficent regarding your case over 100k income

  12. Try to call again at 2PM est time at New York Embassy. Price seems cheaper at Embassy than Consulate. Make sure you includes return paid shipping label too, they won't mail you back if you don't have one. They will call you and beg for one.

  13. I posted this in the general forum but didn't get much help so I come here hoping some of you have gone to the same issue. My fiance has been in the US for three weeks. We got married (with the correct name). When we tried to apply for a SSN, we found out that the firstname and middlename got switched in the Visa and I-94. I contacted Customs & Border Protection in Los Angeles and they told me that they can't fix this problem since the name on the I-94 matched the name on the Visa. The guy I talked to told me that this is a common "Vietnamese" problem and told me that I and my fiance need to contact the US Embassy in Tijuana and get an appointment, and they will fix it for us. I asked if my fiance can get out of the US and come back and they told me yes.

This is wild. What solution do I have other than calling the US embassy in Tijuana?

K-1 visa is one time use only. It is expired after you entered us. US Embassy in Tijuana is wrong regarding this matter. You cannot get out US until you have your green card

  14. It's not impossible but your case is really looks doubtful to Consular and likely will stay in pending mode after they had interview your beneficiary. The waiting time in pending mode vary from months to years. I suggest you trying to meet her several times before planning to marry her.

  15. Hi all VJ members,

This question was asked by a friend of mine who have submitted DS-260 2 months ago and today he received a snail mail from NVC states that NVC updated his "mailing/email address". He did provided an email address on DS-260 application and that's it, no updated or anything changed since. Is this normal that he received this kind of mail. One more thing, after DS-260 submission for 6 weeks, NVC notified him through email that they received all docs and they will send him interview letter within 60 days.

    Thanks,

    Hieumin

  16. Go to Ben Xe Mien Tay and use Phuong Trang shuttle service (around $15 during New Year). Phuong Trang service is reliable.

call this main number and ask for pick up service number (Xe Trung Chuyen) so you don't have go to Ben Xe Mien Tay 08 3838 6852. They will pick you up up at your spot-hotel, home etc...I dont think they will pick you up at the airport

    website: https://futabus.vn/

From airport take taxi and go to Ben Xe Mien Tay then use Phuong Trang service to save money.

A private 7 seated SUV service or taxi from HCM to Rach Gia is around $150
