  1. Of course I've been checking my emails since I turned in our last forms last week. Well I checked my email a couple times today and NOTHING! I called NVC around 4:45 pm EST to ask the operators what was the status of my case, and he gave me the great news that OUR CASE HAD BEEN COMPLETED TODAY!!! YAAYY! He said that the e-mail should be updated at some point today or tomorrow. He also informed me that there were no more interview slots available for the Kingston Embassy for Sept, and that they begin scheduling interviews the 2nd week of each month. So clearly, I'm going to start bugging them the 1st week of the month because I want an interview in early October! I feel so excited and blessed that this part is over with--only 1 more hurdle to go! Good luck to those still waiting! :star:

    Congratulations.

  2. Hi there all...hope someone can help me

    here's my case….

My girlfriend and I started dating since 1986 and started living together in 1994. We can't get married that time as she can't get an annulment on her first marriage because she can't locate her ex-husband - they were already separated for 3 years when we started dating. She gave birth to our son last 1996.

Year 2002, my US Immigrant visa application was approved and since we're not married, I can only take my son with me and she was left all alone. Two years ago, she finally located her ex-husband and she filed for an annulment which was granted early this year. I immediately applied for a K-1 visa and saw that one of the requirements was to have met one’s fiancee at least two years from the date of the K-1 visa application. I know that we didn't meet the requirement as the last time my son and I went to see her was 2006, which was out of the 2 year window requirement but the documents I've submitted were I think more than enough to prove that we really have an honest and a genuine relationship.

We were about to visit her last 2007, but her annulment was in the process that time and she needed the money which was about $8,000. So, I don't have a choice but to give her the money and postpone our visit. We planned again to visit her last year but unfortunately her mom passed away before we can even schedule our visit. I have lots of debt of gratitude to her mom (mostly financial), so again instead of visiting her, I decided to give her the money to help her for all the funeral expenses.

Going back to the evidence I've submitted, many of the pictures in the package have dates inside the photos - like a banner on the background saying “Welcome, Christmas Party 1986”, a poster of a stage play we watched and was luckily included in the background that clearly states the time, the month, the day and the year or like the 1994 election banner that was also included in the background and a lot more that will prove that we really have a relationship for the past 20 years now. I've also included the birth certificate of our son clearly stating the she was the mother. I've also included some of my bank account statement showing I'm sending her money every month.

But still they were asking for a proof that we have met personally 2 years prior to the petition . She was my girlfriend for more than 20 years now and we have been living before for 10 years prior to my immigration here in the U.S. plus the fact that she was the mother of my son and I have been sending her money every month up to now (I can back it all up with my bank account statements). The pictures I have sent to them dates back when we first started dating since 1986 up to the time we left last 2003 and the last time we visited her last 2006, I even included a video of the visit.

The only thing that I can afford right now is her plane ticket and a small amount to spend for our wedding once she gets her. Other than that, I am totally out of money – reason why I’m asking for help and suggestions because I don’t have money to pay for an immigration lawyer.

If you guys were in the same situation before, as I am now and you did pull it through without a lawyer’s help, then please reply immediately as I only have few days left to respond to the immigration. And if you think there’s no way I can pull this through without the help of a lawyer, can you suggest one that is good but won’t totally drain my savings? (preferably in the Northern California area)

BTW, I only have until August 25th to reply or they will deny my petition. I still haven’t told my fiancee about the bad news as I know she will die from misery.

Sorry for the long letter guys, I really have to vent my frustration.

    Thank you all in advance…

I was in the same situation that my petition was denied on the grounds that we did not see each other in the past two years before filling. I sumbitted my appeal and denied it too saying it was not received on time. They find very little things to deny a petition if all the requirements are not met. I went back home and married my fiance two years ago in a small ceremony and filled both I-130 and I-129f. We finished everything and she will be here next month. Good luck with your process.

  6. seconds... minutes... hours.... days... weeks... months... and for some even years have gone by. For us... 3 and a half months. It's a long journey that we've traversed to come this far. Many obstacles that we've managed to hurdle over... and yet still many more to come. I'm happy... jubilant... and excited! But at the same time... sad because I couldn't hold her and hug her when she heard the good news. She's happy! I'm happy! I can hear it in the joyful sobs.

Anyways... I'm at work right now... and received notice that our K-1 petition was approved! YESS!!! Woo hoo!! The long wait is done, but the adventure now begins!

    Congratulations!

  7.:dance: I am so happy to say before going to bed I checked USCIS online and they approved the petitions on the July 30th!!!!!! 98 days!!! I immediatly called my husband acting like I had bad news for him. He was worried, then I screamed WE GOT OUR APPROVALS HONEYYYYYY!! He was very happy but was at work, so will talk with him again when I wake. Hopefully I'll find sleep. Thank you Lord for answered prayers and continue to be with us through the remainder of this process, In Jesus Name, Amen!!!

    Congratulations!

  8. Hi all VJ friends.. I had my interview today and they approved my CR-1 visa

Thank you for all supports and helps that you have given me trough this rough journey.

    Here is my interview experience:

I came to the embassy on 7.50 AM (the appointment was on 8.00 AM). I met a nice lady who already sat there in the room. She would have her CR-1 interview too.. later on, I found out that she is John1759's wife.. We had a conversation and I was happy to meet her so I didn't feel too nervous.

We waited for immigration counter (we thought that it was still closed), after 45 mins waiting we realized that probably we need to stand in front of the counter so some one will come and ask for our docs. After we stand in front of the counter, then an Indonesian lady came to us and asked for some docs (medical, passport). She asked only one question to me:

    1. How long have you been married? More or less then 2 years?

After that, she told me to have a seat until they call my name for biometrics.

I set down and had more conversations with John1759's wife until they call her name to had biometrics. After she was done with that, they called my name to have biometrics, and they asked me to have a seat again until they call my name for interview.

The CO called John7159 wife to have her interview in counter #1 (it is a small room). It didn't took a long time for her. When she opened the door, I just knew that she got approved from her smile :D

I didn't wait for along time until the CO called my name. The interview it self was in Indonesian language. CO was very nice and polite. He greeted me and asked me to raised my right hand to have my oath. These are his questions:

    1. How long did you stayed in the US on your last visit? I said, "one day before 6 months", and he replaied: "WOW, you're exactly know about the US immigration law" :D I said, "yes"

    2. Where did you meet your husband?

    3. When did you meet in person?

    4. Was it in Indonesia?

    5. Oh, did you live there?

    6. You have visited the US 3 times haven't you?

He was busy with his computer for a min.. I was waiting for more questions and all of the sudden he said, "relax, don't be too formal" I just smiled and said "oh, ok" (I was so surprised he said that and really glad to have a very nice CO.. I have to say that I wasn't nervous at all!!). He continued the questions:

    7. Have your husband ever visited Indonesia?

    8. When?

After that he stamped my passport, and at the same time I knew that he approved my visa. He said, "we will issued your visa, please come back on this date to have your visa", and he even said enjoy your life in Oklahoma :D. It was so fast and only took 5 mins at the most. After I thanked him I leave the room and celebrate our approvals with my friend

We leave the embassy at 9.38 AM. It was so smooth and painless.. Thanks GOD. It was a big relieve for me and hubby..

I thank all VJ members again for your great helps, and for those who still waiting for NOA2, Case complete and Interview day, hang in there.. you're time will come soon, just keep the faith. I wish you all a good luck and smooth journey :star: :star: :star: :star:

    Congratulations!

  9. Since March 23rd I have been tuning into visajourney for guidance and support. Reading all the stories gave me alot of hope and also disappointment. I began noticing alot of April filers being approved and naturally began to wonder if my case had found its way to the mysterious file box in the corner closet at CSC.

I received This email today! (6 Days after the fact)

  10. I'm sorry... I'm just so excited I had to tell somebody! We received our NOA1 on 4/27/09 & received notice via email today from our attorney that the NOA2 was issued 7/22/09. I can't believe it took less than 3 months with no RFEs! Still have a ways to go (waiting for South Africa to issue the police certificate)... but one obstacle down, only a handful to go!

Thanks to all those who participate in these forums & by updating their timelines... this website is an amazing resource.

Blessings to all of you who long to have your fiance'(e) home and in your arms! We're all in this together...

    Congratulations!

  11. We had our interview today. It went very smooth and quick. We gave a copy of medical insurance, 2008 tax returns, title of truck, SSN number and bank statements. He verified all the information on the 485 and then said we are approved. Stamped her passport and then we left. He was very nice and professional. My wife said she felt very comfortable with interviewer. We say some other interviewers and they appeared a lot more threatening. Just be well organized and relax, it is not as scary as you think.

    Congratulations!

  12. Finally!!! Finally!!! Finally!!! Ivonne passed her CR1 interview at the Bogota Embassy this morning. They only asked her two questions - how we met and where did I live. We are Praising God. Ivonne will arrive in Seattle on Aug. 14th. Thanks to all the visa journey members for their support and help during this process. God bless you all!!!!!

Here's the Pre screener's asked me:

    1. how did you meet?

    2. when did you got married?

    3. what is his work?

    4. how many times he visited you?

    5. when was the last time you saw him?
