  1. Finally received the Green Card on Tuesday. I may be the last one to receive it but heyyy better late than never eh! :-D

Congratulations maxy925. You may be the last one who posts to let us know. I updated the spreadsheet and there are a few that probably have received their GC but are still out celebrating and have not posted the good news. Enjoy your 18 month break from USCIS.

  2. Joe, it's great to hear that Valeria got her replacement Visa, even though it was quiet a journey. She needs to keep a copy of her vaccination record which will be needed for the medical part of the AOS filing. Also, if she has a copy of the medical exam, that's good to keep too. It's not needed, but sometimes people get an RFE for a full medical, even though the "sealed" one is submitted at POE.

We're very happy for you Joe. Hope Valeria can join you soon.

    Greg

  3. Yes Greg, it was really good to get those notifications following the USCIS Officer who said it would take 90 days!

As to when we get the actual mail... mail to Riverton, Wyoming takes an extra two days no matter where it is sent from (outside of Wyoming). So if it normally takes three days, we will not see it for at least 5 days. That's just the way it is here. It will eventually come.

Your GC is good for 10 years, right? Our USCIS Officer said ours would be for 14 years. I was more than a little surprised by that. Is he just suffering from CRS syndrome?

Our first GC is good for 2 years, but I've always heard the that the nonconditional GC is 10 years. I've not heard of a 14 year card.

  4. Ten minutes after I posted the previous item I got SMS messages about an update of the cases. I went to the web and this is what I saw for each of them:

    Document production or Oath Ceremony

On February 23, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you

    Hooray!

Congratulations Mike on the approvals!!:dance:

Great that you were able to get the online updates just in time and get your approval email. So many people have been told that their approvals will be pending and then they receive the approval email within days.

    Greg

  5. Good luck Mike to you and Beth. I know that everything will come out fine. It's been an unexpectedly long journey for you, but now you are at the end. We are anxious to hear the results or your interview.

We each take so many different paths to resolution. Through it all we have the love of our partners. VJ gives us valuable guidance and support of the community.

Our October filers group has been especially active throught this process. I feel very blessed with the friendship of those I have met here.

Mike, I looking forward to hearing the resulting of your interview. I'm sure it will be positive.

  6. Jellie, for us we needed two police checks, one from Hong Kong (where we were) and one from Australia. The Hong Kong one was easy. Just went to police HQ, had the fingerprints done and they submit the check directly to the US Embassy in about a week.

Australia was another story. We ordered a "name check only" and it took about a month to receive. At the interview the US Embassy in Hong Kong would not accept a name check only when we had to order another one with fingerprints which took another month plus another fee.

Perhaps the requirments vary by US Embassy. The turnaround times do vary by country.

Good luck to you on your journey.

  7. And now for a little levity! My wife Beth and her daughter's cases (over four months since the NOA date) were today made live on the USCIS website.

As posted earlier - the interviews are next Tuesday. We are ready - we hope. The house is now jointly titled with right of survivorship. Her car is jointly titled. We have a joint bank account. We have all the basic records, the marriage certificate and photos, plus school report cards, and other school things for our daughter including her swim team photo. I am bringing the quit-claim deed which added Beth to ownership of the house, the car title and bank statements for the joint account. Hopefully that will meet their requirements.

Wow Mike. Finally they put your cases on their website!

Good luck with your interview next week. I'm sure you'll do fine. We took a mountain of paperwork and proof, but didn't need any of it. But I would not have felt comfortable unless we were fully prepared. I hope you get the approval at the interview and not the wait for the supervisors approval. You've waited long enough. With your cases on the web you can sign up for email updates and receive an email when they order production of the GC.

  8. First of all I would like to thank this forum and the wonderful people that answered all my questions.

My wife had her interview today at 11.00. We were there at 10.30 along with our daughter. We were called at 11.30 and our daughter was getting restless. Wife had to keep feeding her jelly beans to keep her under control. The officer was a middle aged guy , very polite and a good sense of humor. When he called us in he apologized for being late and said not everyone's case is as straight forward as yours with a wink. He had a file of all the documents I had sent for I-485. He first asked us to raise our right hand before and swear that we tell the truth. He asked for our drivers licenses and citizenship proofs. My wife's drivers license had an old address. He asked why are living separate. My wife immediately said she did not update the records and started digging the folder which had tons of bills with her name and current address on it. My daughter became busy in playing with stationery on the table while I was making ready for all the documents he may ask. He asked for our copies of daughter's birth certificate, auto insurance policy, credit cards and joint account bank statements. He said that was more than enough though I always thought I was under prepared. He took away the original EAD and Advanced parole. He stamped my wife's passport with permanent resident stamp and said you are free to travel. After 2 yrs and 9 months you are eligible to apply for US citizenship he said and again apologized for the delay.

    Woohoo!

    Good luck to everyone !

Congratulations Desi4ever on your approval!!:dance:

  9. Thanks Gregg,im ready for the interview but what annoying is my EAD never arrived though i recieved two notification in the mail last December. I tried to call the USCIS but i couldnt follow up my case cuz it always says i entered a lacking digit. Its been over a month for that EAD grrrr.....I hope its not a big deal if i dont have EAD to show to the IO on thursday. Cant wait this things over and oh its pouring rain outta here in honolulu...

BTW Genny, at the interview we were not asked for the EAD card or the AP. Even if they do, just say you didn't receive it. Should not be a problem.

Another VJ member had their interview in Honolulu on 1/22 and was approved. Their experience was similar to ours.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
