So Phil was offered the job in NY! They understand our situation with the Green Card and we are on a lease until October 1st anyway. But we're planning to move to NY October 1st so I really hope Phil has his 10 yr GC by then as I don't want to risk doing the change of address with USCIS...

Well we heard from that job Phil applied to in NY where my brother in law works. They definitely want to hire him but because of current changes in the company, they don't have a timeline yet for a start time. I guess this is fortunate news for us because we really didn't want to move until we get his 10 yr GC anyway. I just hope it all lines up at a time that works out!

Well after my frustration earlier, I've got good news to report! USCIS updated their processing times and now it's up to August 1, 2011 + the first Aug filer on this thread was approved today. Moving along guys!

That's great news that VSC has moved into the August filers.

Alrighty people, here is a post by a paranoid obsessive person! I am traveling overseas this weekend, and this whole extension letter, and expired GC has been playing havoc with my thoughts! And finally, I gave in yesterday, decided I really didn't have much to lose - made an infopass appointment for today. The USCIS lady was extremely helpful, and when I stated my case, and said, I was worried about the departure airports - she herself offered to stamp my passport with the i-551 stamp! Phew, it was worth the long drive, and some additional peace of mind.

So, if you have excessive time on hand, and are obsessive as I am - it might be worth a try! HOWEVER, I have heard only a few offices are this nice and provide these stamps - I was at the Raleigh-Durham field office which had just one free infopass appointment for today! But I do intend to keep my expired GC, and extension letter close to me while traveling!

FYI, my wife just returned from overseas (with her expired GC and extension letter, no I-551 stamp). Upon returning at LAX, she gave the immigration officer her passport and GC. He scanned the GC, took her fingerprints, ask her how long she was gone and welcomed her home. Didn't ask to see the extension letter. I'm assuming that when they scan the GC, it must show on their system that it is under a one year extension. Still good to have the extension letter as backup, but she didn't need it this time.

Thanks Barca. It's good to know that it's not something strange about my case!

For those who have their bio letter and can check their case status online, what does it show for the Form Number? On ours it shows CRI89. I would have expected it to show I-751. The form title says "PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED" which seems right.

No touches so far. The last updated date is the day after the date on the NOA1.

Angel, did you have to call USCIS or the local service center if you can do your early biometrics or you just popped in over there with you bio letter?

We did an early bio. Just dropped in at the ASC (the one on the bio letter) and they took us like it was our appointment date. From what I've read, most will allow an early bio, some don't. Be sure to take your bio letter and photo ID (we had passport and green card).

We did a walk-in bio today at the Santa Ana ASC. The room was already crowded with 30 or 40 people already waiting to be called. The man at the door looked at the appointment letter and asked to see my wife's ID. He gave her a clipboard with a form to fill out and asked her to take a seat. He said I couldn't wait in the room, unless I was needed to help fill out the form . He was very nice, but pointed out that once the form was filled out I'd have to wait outside. The wait was about 40 minutes. My wife said everyone was very friendly. After the fingerprints and picture, she was asked to fill out a customer satification survey.

Maybe the DMV should give this approach a try?
