  1. Looks like we are finally moving along in Phoenix. From just looking at the trends over the last year or so, things came to a stand still in Phoenix in May and June of this year. Wasn't that about the time that the bus loads of people from South America were being dropped off here in Phoenix for processing?

Just one of my theories. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

  2. Late to the party!

  3. So we had our interview yesterday morning here in Phoenix! We arrived at 7am for a 7:20 appointment time. We were out by 8am. The interview went great! Asked us the normal questions and asked for copies of our kids' birth certificates and boom! She handed us a paper that said approved! We are so excited!

Wifie already started to look for jobs today. Hopefully she finds one that she likes!

Good Luck to everyone else who is waiting!

P.S. How long after the interview did you guys have to wait before your GC arrived in the mail?

  4. yes, just make sure to have with you the AOS NOA, just in case you guys have to go through a CBP check.

    +1

We were driving from Las Cruces back to Phoenix and went through a check point. Even though my wife had a driver's license, they still asked to see the paperwork which we didn't have. They were cool about it but told me next time that the wife has to have the paperwork when she travels. Stupid I know but its the government.

  5. From my experience, this situation is highly irregular. If an intending immigrant tests positive for TB, they will not be issued a US Visa.

That said, USCIS only recognizes the overseas medical documentation or transcribed documents from a Civil Surgeon (CS).

Given this complication, I suggest you contact a local Civil Surgeon for a TB test with positive results, which you can then serve up to USCIS in response to the apparent Request for Evidence (RFE).

    http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/pdf/tb-ti-civil.pdf

Page 22 has the chart for the CS to go by if the immigrant has TB. Class A TB is the only one that would stop AOS.

  6. Hey, to those who got RFE's.. did you receive some kind of NOA1 to know that they received it? Was it by mail or just on the USCIS site? And how long does it take? Just wondering how this works.. Just confirmed that it was delivered this morning so I'm back in the game now..

I didn't receive any NOA when they got my reply to their RFE. The website did update the status though. Been sitting that way ever since! At least when my wife gets her GC, it will be a 10 year one and we will not have to deal with this ####### again!

  7. As you can see in my AOS journey, I have gotten two RFE's so far. One for I-693 medical exam, which they lost it from the packet accompanying my K1 Visa documents when I entered the US with it. (I believe it is not that uncommon that they loose medical exams.) Had to redo the exam. Second RFE was that they requested evidence of Bona Fide marriage. Note: When filing an I-485 with a K1 Visa, it is not required to submit Bona Fide evidence. I guess they just requested it now for some reason.

Wow! That sucks! I thought that it might be a good idea to submit some bona fide eveidence. I just submitted a copy of my bank statements that had both of our names on it with the I-864 paperwork.

We are preparing pictures and birth certificates for the interview. Hope that works.

    Wish you the best!

  8. I nearly had a heart-attack when he said $650.. even for a medical but I explained the transcription again, thinking they were just confused so she got the doc on the phone who told me it WAS the transcription fee and when I said something like it being ridiculous he basically banned me from his office. Just insane. I was lucky I was still in Texas at the time (calling Iowa offices to see if it was better to do it there or Houston) and when I heard that I told Tony that Houston was the winner :P

I really wish there was more policing. So many people get screwed over thinking that's right, or they don't speak english well or what not.

Banned? Really? Like you were being unreasonable hahaha. What a joke!

  9. Yeah sorry no... There is no government enforced rate. I paid $50 for my vaccination transcription. I know people that have paid $10 and some $25. Depends what doc you go to.

In Clinton the guy wanted $650 for the medical OR the transcription. Total rip-off.

While I like the idea of a government enforced rate for the medical, for people who do the K1 (and their medical is less than a year old so they need only the vaccination transcription) who only need one shot, or don't need any shots (as was my case) $150 is a total rip-off. But anyway, there is no government enforced rate, the nurse didn't know what she was talking about or was lying to you to make you think that you couldn't get a better deal anywhere else. If you don't believe me, call a couple other of the CS's in your state and see what you find out. Either your office is the ONLY one following a "government-enforced" rate or they lied to you.

Yeah there totally should be an enforced price for that. I think $650 is crazy! But there probably isn't a lot of CS's in your town. The more I read about these civil surgeons the more I think that they are all crooks!

  10. Hello.

I have an RFE coming in the mail and it's going to be my medical which is out of date. When sending my paperwork for AOS i included a copy of my vaccination records, but i think i've accidently sent the original copy that i got from the doctor and i don't have a photocopy anywhere.

The medical will be hefty enough in price without having to get all the vaccinations again. I'm not really sure what to do here. I'm not sure if it's possible to get a copy from the doctor who did my medical in Australia or would a blood test show what i have had done?

I'm kicking myself for this simple screw up.

Since it has been over a year since your last exam, you might have to have the whole exam done over again here in the US. My experience with this was a nightmare. If you do have to get a new exam done, make sure that you find a good Civil Surgeon that is reccomended. I used the one that was closest to my house. Argh!

    Good Luck!

  11. I wasn't rude at all, I asked a direct question. It's hard to answer a question when there's no context. Your question was already answered by the very first respondent based on the OP, then you amended your question to "1 RFE for everything or the they send out 1 RFE per mistake?"

There are a few ways to take that question. I could take it that you're asking "I got an RFE for my medical, does that mean I won't get another RFE for my medical? Or can I be RFE'd for it again?" or the question could mean "I got an RFE for my medical, can I get another RFE for anything else?"

Had you asked any of those questions I posed above it gives context to the question and makes it's easy to answer... but if you beat around the bush, like you did, then it's hard to give you an answer straight away and leads to unnecessary back and forth which can result in you getting an answer that isn't actually correct.

You said "thanks that's the answer I was looking for" but it might not be the CORRECT one and using the words "answer I was looking for" makes it appears you're fishing for a specific answer, not a correct one.

Title or the post is "Multiple RFE's Anyone get more than one?" No beating around the bush with that.

This is a discussion forum. I am curious if others have had more than one RFE. The only correct answer is from people's own experience.

Did you ever get an RFE? If yes I would love to hear about it. If no, then why post?

  12. My wife is with me in the US and we're applying for adjustment of status. Her parents are currently in Nanchong, but she was born in Zhanjiang. Does anyone know of an application form we can send in the mail? Would her parents be able to visit their local notary, or would they have to travel all the way back to the original hospital for this?

If they have a copy of the birth certificate then her parents can go to the place where they can get those "White Books". They should have one closer to their house so they won't have to travel too far.

From what wifey says is that this is a pain the butt to get though.

  13. USPS Express Mail

    +1

I sent a package to Hangzhou through Fedex. My wife didn't receive it for 3 weeks becuase it got held up in customs. The Chinese customs wanted to know what exactly was in the box. Everything had to be accounted for before my wife could pick it up. Oh and the cost was like 10rmb for my wife to get it out of customs but when my wife first went down to get the box they offered to give it to her for 300rmb then she could receive it right away. Gotta love corruption!
