BTW, does anybody know if one can bring cell phones/laptops/etc.. to USCIS buildings, or do they make you leave behind any other stuff that is not paperwork during the security check

i dont know about laptops, but i know (at least at the san antonio uscis office), you can only bring cell phones in if they dont have cameras on them. good luck!

Good to know, thanks! The reason I asked about laptops, is because we don't have many printed pictures (aside from the wedding ones), but we have a ton in the computer....

At Los Angeles local office you can bring laptop, but the security will check if your laptop is working

I agree, i guess its better to print your pictures. You can just choose some of the pictures that you can bring for the interview. As for our case, the IO didnt even ask for one. But just bring still some of it or if you want you can bring all. But i think its better to have it printed rather than showing to the IO the laptop, you will never know he might get annoyed. Just a thought.

Yes i agree dont stress too much. Dont overdo things. heheheh thats what my husband said to me too when i was preparing for the interview. He said that me and him are already more than enough evidence, we are self-evident. He said that for as long as its real its gonna be easy, the IO will see it. And its really true.

Today is the eighth day since our interview and I have just received AOS approval in the mail!!! I am so happy because we weren't sure what was going on after the interview because we never got the answer, or instructions about removing conditions, or EAD and AP taken away. For all those who are getting nervous because of that or because there is no online update, don't be, it will come in the mail and it will all be OK.

P.S. I adjusted from within U.S. from I (journalist) visa with "duration status" on I-94. Never had issues, never RFE, and never a lawyer. Wish you all smooth sailing

0ur situation is still one big screwed up mess. Although we have an interview date, my husband still does not know if he is leaving March 15th and coming back for the interview April 7th, or stay here and leave after the interview. He is on the verge of quitting his job here. Maybe today will be his last day, who knows? I think he is making a terrible mistake, but you can't tell the man anything when he thinks he knows it all. Like who can afford another plane ticket?? Pray for us that somehow God will straighten out this nightmare.

It s been a while since I last came on this thread! I m so happy to see so many good news! everybody starts getting their GC and every interview is smoothed, it s great!

On my side, no news from USCIS, no interview, they still didn't send me my RFE for the I 693 (i didn't send this form)...

according to envy me chart, it looks like we are only four left without interview...

I have a friend here in CO who had her interview after a year! They seem very slow in Colorado!

One day you will have the magic mail on your mailbox...Dont be sad its coming soon...I will whisper a prayer for you and all of us here.

I am not sure and i really dont know about those things. But, in my opinion i guess it doesnt matter either way. But somehow better if you are really married already again. He should also apply for his citizenship as soon as he can. But honestly i really dont know. Try to look for sites regarding your situation and lets just try to wait for others to give their opinion on this....

What are all the forms that needed to be files for Adjustment of Status (I485) and EAD?

What is AP? I see lot of folks were saying recieved AP.

Please help me understand the process flow. I am currently having my H1B and getting married with USC.

For Adjustment of Status you need form I485 and for EAD form I765, then for AP I131. All of these forms you can download from the USCIS site. The AP is for you to be able to travel outside US while waiting for your AOS to be approved. Me, i didnt apply for AP since i dont have immediate plan of leaving the country and now my GC is coming already. So it depends on your situation.

There are so many related discussions here that could help you in filing for your AOS and the USCIS site is also very clear as to instructions and documents you have to submit. So, just visit all the possible links that could help you in this process. Also, here n VJ there are so many who are very willing to answer your questions. So feel free to ask and enjoy VJ as much as i enjoy my visa journey.
