  1. My fiance and I planned our wedding back in June for January 04, 2009 ... we had no clue we needed to apply for a fiance visa, we just thought that if he got a B1/B2 Visa came over on that and got married... he went to the consulate in late August but they told him he had applied for the wrong Visa.... to make a long story short, due to our ignorance in this whole process we had to cancel that jan 04 date and filed for the K-1 as soon as we got the news we needed it...we also had to wait till I became naturalized which happen the last day of September. Then we finally filed in October... now, we are just basically waiting for this to come through as soon as the L-rd wills to get married. Nothing worse than having your hopes up, setting a wedding date, having everything planned and then it crashes.... in the end it was a good thing, although this process is lengthy it's better doing it the right way then the wrong way IMO.

Hope we see more petitions for October this week! Praying to G-d it happens ;)

  2. Hi All,

I'm new to the forums and I'm kind of having a heart attack right now and I'm not sure whether I should or not.

My fiancee and I live together with our son here in Mexico, and the mail system is notoriously unreliable, so hopefully that's the cause, but I'm not sure. My mother was visiting in October and after I filled out all of the papers for my fiancee she took everything back to the U.S. to mail it. The address that I have on the forms is the address that I share here in Mexico with my fiancee. The problem is, I never received the NOA1, but after my mom sent the papers to the Vermont SC she received the return receipt dated October 28th, 2008. We have received absolutely nothing here. I also haven't received any emails or anything, which I thought I would if anything new happened with the application.

My uncle processed the exact same visa for my Aunt, who is from the Philippines, and she said that it took 3 months for her to receive the NOA1. The problem is, I don't even know where to begin with this, because without any sort of reference number, will they be able to look up the file so I can check to see where we are? Would it be a wise idea to change my mailing address on the app to my mom's address in the U.S. so that I can be more certain that any correspondence actually arrives?

    I'm worried.

You mention your mother received the return receipt... I am assuming that means that they sign the forms showing they were received, like many posters already said check the cash check or call them they MIGHT just be able to help! you know the number? if not you can find it on the uscis.gov website...

  3. Unfortunately it happns for some people. There are still some poor June, July and August filers who still have not seen signs of their NOA2's, not even a touch since their NOA1 dates.

I was JUST talking to my fiance about that. I was saying that August is about 70% done and September almost 50% so they should be starting in October soon...but what about the people in August who are still waiting? This could happen to us, almost done with Oct. and Nov. and move on to December and we haven't heard anything yet :crying: I mean, I hope not, but you never can tell. And the fact that we're at the end of the month - although they approve apps from Sept 15 and Aug 15 on the same day, so there really is no rhyme or reason

All you can do is be positive and hope for the best. But be aware that VSC is way way way behind, so one thing is for sure in slowing you down right now is the processing times and backlog within VSC.

They might say they are way behind but lately they have been progressing quite nicely, like she said most of the august filers are done and september is halfway... so hopefully this continues....

In this process faith is essential! .... even if it takes a little to get our cases approve they will get approved! we just have to pray that the waiting is not going to be sooooo long! I hope they start in October soon... like you said, they have been doing lots of August and September filers so hopefully they start with us real soonn! I checked the processing dates today and it still says April 15, 2008... wonder why???

  5. Would it not be a cruel twist of fate for VSC to skip over October and begin adjudicating Nov. and Dec. filers before us?

RBAL_TN and I agree that we should begin seeing Oct. approvals within the next couple of weeks. My prognostication last week was that some folks would have a lot more to celebrate than just Valentine's Day the week after next. Let's see how accurate it is.

...and why would that happen?? (skipping ocotber I mean) :P ...anyways hope you are right we'll just see!! :D

  6. There could be an October filer approved by expedite. There have also been recently people who claim they were approved in less than 100 days. Without some compelling evidence, I am not apt to believe them: Like anywhere, there are dishonest folk here too.

As of now, no regular October 2008 VSC filers have received NOA2.

Yeah I know what you are saying.. according to Igor's list (oh my gosh, I am actually learning all of this now... lol) there have been 5 approved petitions that have been filed in October with the VSC...

    take a look:

  7. Hi there,

You can check the status of your case online with the receipt number from your NOA1... but in my opinion you are still within the processing time frames... if you want to call you can. Unlike others, many of the times I've called they have been helpful and really nice. But I am not sure they'll give you any valuable information since your still within their time frames!

As for people who filed the same month as you and already have their NOA 2 thats just the way they work! But you are still fine! So just hang in there a little more, you'll be approved in no time!

Im panicking now about my petition application, still no reply from uscis, its been 137 days since

i got the NOA1.Unlike other filers here they got theirs already and they waited shorter then me

even some filers here who files the same month as mine already got their NOA2.Should i start calling

uscis and find the status of my application?

  8. The good news is that we are seeing movement right now. With August at almost 70% acceptance and September fast approaching 50%, you better believe we'll be seeing some October's soon!

that makes me smile!! where did you get this number from??

I am sure we are all waiting anxiously, I haven't seen my love in over a year now! it's difficult but so worth it! :D

QUESTION: Is it safe to say that the Vermont service center is moving faster now??? I've seen lots of approval from them lately, am I wrong?

    2 of my favorite links:

    and

Seems like the last 2 weeks, VSC has outperformed CSC.

    IT'S ABOUT TIME! :star:

Just noticed we got our NOA 1 the same date... hopefully not long now!

  10. ALSO

I want to add a bit of personal information here... My fiance and I were planning on getting married, we had no clue about the K-1 visa, so he applied for a B-1/2 visa, he went to the interview and they denied him the visa for obvious reasons, he was coming to get married, the consulate told him to apply for the correct Visa (hence the one we are waiting for at the moment).. my question is, is this going to be ANY problem? and should he (my fiance) bring any sort of information documentation about this???

  11. Hi all,

I was wondering after the petition is approved, and the interview date is set what exactly is it that one has to bring to the interview? Any advice on what to start organizing? and what is CRUCIAL to bring to the interview? I've also heard it is a good idea for the both parties to be in the interview, is this a good idea as well?

    Thank you!

  12. Hi all,

I realize that, I am just waiting to see up until the end of feb.. it might happen, it might likely not, like I said in my post I will set a tentative date.. my question however, was the following

Approximately how long does it take from NOA2 till when you get your Visa, that is my question... the rest I understand

I gave you your answer.... Look at the flowchart for the K-1....

Time varies depending on a lot of factors.

anywhere from 1 month to several months. (one person has been in AP for one year at the embassy level....)

I see, thanks for the information... I appreciate it!
