  1. IR1 visa approved!!

I got to the consulate at 7 am & was first inline. Everything went very smoothly & I was out of there by 8:45 am.

Thank you to everyone on VJ :)

Excellent! Congrats Serendipity! I have the same question as Holliday - are they letting you pick up your visa? I'm nervous that our moving date is too soon and we're not going to get it in time.

  2. hi all!

Congratulations to everyone who just got approved!!! My wife had an CR1 inetrview today in Islamabad. She was approved and they kept her passport and told her that she will recieve her passport along with visa within four days via American Express Courier service. They asked very simple questions about my job and how we met etc. They did see our weeding pics and then approved her. My wife said that there was a pakistan guy with an American lady and they both interviwed her. She said that they both were very polite and nice with her.

Thanks for everyone who has helped me in this journey!! We are alomst done!! And best of luck to everyone who have upcoming interviews!! Regards, Rehan

Alright Rehan!!! Way to go!! HUGE congratulations to you!!:dance:

  3. Taj congrats on your interview date!! News for you guys on my hubby's interview. He said it was really long but the lady was very nice to him. She told him everything was ok but he was in AP. I guess the only good news that came out of it is she kept his passport. I cried like a baby and I have a splitting headache right now. I just pray this is not a long drawn out process.

Well that's a crappy bummer. :( I would think it's definitely a positive note that they kept his passport. Maybe AP won't last very long. We'll keep you in our thoughts. It seems like there's a lot of AP running around lately.

  4. Sounds like you are up on it. Are you not interested in hospital work?

i am interested in any work, i will take anything! but the hospitals are on freeze now. and they do the applications online so i am just at home typing away...

WE GOT OUR INTERVIEW DATE! SEPT 25, 2009! MY BIRTHDAY! HAHAHAHAHAHA THIS WILL BE THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER IF WE GET THE VISA! PLEASE KEEP PRAYING FOR ME! I HOPE TO HAVE A JOB BY THEN!

carlish, when do you think my husband should go for medical? 2 weeks before?

On your birthday! How cool is that?! Can't think of a better present. :)

Holliday, you and my husband are in the same boat as far as work is concerned. His mind has moved on and he's having a tough time telling people not to cram it. lol He has to keep it together though because we just got word that the company may keep him on doing the same job but putting him in our office down here (we work for the same company). Man would that be great!! No job hunting and no loss of a $78K income. Everyone cross your fingers for us.

Great review V! I'm so happy for you. :)

Betsy... oh Betsy... any word? Tell us your good news girl!

  5. Best of luck and we'll think good thoughts for you. Let us know how it goes and do me a favor - be really nice to them so they're in a good mood when I get there next week.

  6. I just stopped by to say hi to my VJ family...

Having awesome time with hubby here, I swear to God I forgot it is interview time tomorrow, I laughed today when we realized we need to get the documents ready for tomorrow :)

Anyway guys, will let you know about results tomorrow

keep praying for us and for W

Miss u... well maybe not now :) hubby is there to keep company :)

Hi V! Glad you popped in and are having a great time. Isn't it cool to be having so much fun that you forgot the interview was coming? My husband and I had the same thing happen over the weekend although our interview isn't until next week. We still laughed about it. Good luck and let us know as soon as you can. (F)

  7. hi everyone i am back! sorry to keep you all worried! anyway i was away for 5 weeks to visit my husband son in the philippines, but now i am back. the latest update is that we got an RFE (husband's original birth certificate) and mailed it about 2 weeks ago. we called and they said they have received it and under process but this was 2 weeks ago so i have to call tomorrow and see what's going on. anyway the sad news is since i have passed my boards and i am now an registered nurse i can not work as a nursing assistant at my old place anymore and i would have to reapply as a nurse. so now i am jobless! i am worried my husband's interview will be on sept or oct and im so worried about finding a job! question: when i use a co sponsor can i ask a friend to do it? and do i have give the files for a co sponsor thru NVC again? what if our case has been forwarded to the embassy already? i tried to sign in at NVC but i got this message:

    Sign In Failed

    * Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error.

    what does this mean?

Your case is approved and done at the NVC silly girl! lol That's what the sign in failing means. Congrats! If you call the NVC on Monday or Tuesday, they'll confirm that for you.

  8. Hi Everyone!!

Great news- I had my interview on Friday and was APPROVED!!!!! Finally ....after many long years apart.....we will finally be together!

Sorry I have not been online for a bit....my grandfather passed away 3 weeks ago....very sad ....but I know that he is OK and with our Lord.

I will write my review for Sombercat and Holliday.....my suggestion is to get there by 6:40 am- be first in line.....weill tell you more in my review.

Congrats to everyone....and best wishes to all pending interviews..... ;)

Whidbey- God is in control- keep praying....all is well..

Congrats again! I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. :(

  9. Whidbey, I'm so sorry to hear about the AP. :( I really hope they finish it up quickly for you guys.

Welcome back! Hope you enjoyed the time with the husband and the Oklahoma heat! lol Yeah, my husband said it was pretty dumb too. I guess that's why they make you sign a form saying this does not take place of an annual physical. :P Wow, two weeks from today we'll be doing our thing. Ready?

I certainly did enjoy my time, but I DID NOT enjoy the heat! To be honest, I spent most of the time (while my husband was at work) playing video games and watching Law & Order SVU marathons on the USA network. It was awesome.

I can't believe the interview is coming up in less than 2 weeks now! But to be honest, each day feels like 2 weeks to me right now. Heh. I finally booked my hotel! I'll be staying at one of the Holiday Inns within walking distance of the Consulate. Oh yeah, and I took a walk over to the Consulate before my medical, so I know where we'll have to go! I don't know that area very well at all (actually, I don't know any area of Montreal very well), but it looks like we'll have lots of options for dinner on Tuesday night.

Anyway, I hope I'm ready for the interview! I finally have a day off on Saturday, so I plan to spend some time getting everything ready. Are you guys all set? I have no idea what to bring with me! I have a folder that contains copies of everything that has been submitted in this process thus far, so I'll be bringing that, but I'm not sure how much other "evidence" I should bring along. I guess I still need to pick up one of those Expresspost pre-paid envelope dealies. Did you find it odd that there was no mention of that at all in the interview letter?

Say congratulations to Carlo on his permit, Carlish!

Holiday, nice to see you again. I was in your neck of the woods the other day (OKlahoma, that is), loved the Texoma lake!

W, you and your hubs are in my prayers. Hope everything goes well with his interview

I am leaving tomorrow morning, probably won't be sleeping tonight :)

I'll stay in touch as I'm taking my laptop with me. I'll make sure to update you guys with our good news next Tuesday!

    Y'all better miss me

THEY HAVE LAKES IN OKLAHOMA?!?! Go figure! (Kidding. Kinda. Ugh.)

Hope you had an uneventful flight, and good luck on Tuesday! Keep us posted!

I do not envy the heat you will be moving to. Blah. That's cool that you enjoyed your time there though - a nice glance at real life in the near future. Glad to hear there's a lot in the consulate area for dinner options. Did you decide if a relative or friend is coming with you or did you decide to fly solo?

Honestly, we're not bringing a lot. We're bringing copies of everything that's been filed from BCs to taxes, etc. Other than that, we're just bringing some wedding pics, which I doubt they'll ask for, and I'm going to throw in my property tax bill to show I own my own home just in case. Other than that, just the medical stuff, the interview letter and the pre-paid envelope. It's funny you said that about the envelope because we said the same thing. lol

  10. I have zero knowledge of AP (and I hope I never do), but from what I've read that others have posted, that's what it sounds like to me. Hmm. I would think it will be a short wait in your case though. I can't imagine they would hold things up because he wasn't sure of the date you worked somewhere. That's crazy. Hell, my husband would fail instantly if he had to answer something like that. Good thing I've worked at the same place for 18 years. lol Hang in there girl. I'm sure you're going nuts right now, but hopefully the wait isn't too long and you'll hear something from them quickly. (F)

  11. As others have said, neither of those issue would make you inadmissable. You'll definitely want to follow up on the BP reading though. They should have done what my doctor does when mine is high - turn out the lights, lay down on the table and chill for five minutes with your eyes closed. It usually does the trick for me. Don't sweat it babe. We're going to be standing in line outside of the embassy together two weeks from today and all will go well. :star: If your BP is through the roof while we're in line, I'll just dump some cold water on you. :P

  12. I've missed A LOT here! CONGRATS TO EVERYONE for all the good news, and of course best of luck to those with interviews coming up!

I went for my medical exam yesterday. It was dumb. Heh. I still don't know if it went well or not.

Ready?

Hey Whidbey - what's the time difference between here and where your husband's interview is? I'm assuming it will take place sometime tonight is that right?

  13. hi everyone, my wife passed her interview on july 29th. sorry for the late news, i had no access to the internet. she and 1 more couple were the only ones to get a visa that day. everyone else received a blue slip for more evidence. vietnam consulate is very tough. thanks everyone for the support during this journey, especially to Sombercat, Whidbeygirl, and Carlish. i booked the return ticket for aug 24. goodluck to the rest of you guys still waiting

Yeeeeaaa!!!! I'm SO happy for you! Have a safe trip back and let us know how everything goes at the POE. :star:

  14. Hi everyone,

Sorry I've been AWOL but I've been hanging out with the husband. Wow did I miss a lot!!! I could try to name every single one of you that's been approved for one thing or another, but I'm sure I'll forget someone so a HUGE congrats to all of you!! Between case completes, visas approved, visas received, etc. I could hardly keep up!

Chrissy, you choked me up. What a fantastic scene that must have been. You are truly blessed and no doubt your husband is also. (L)

Whidbey, we'll be thinking of you this week. I can't wait to hear another approval story!

Kevin, helllloooo!! Find a damn internet connection and tell us your great news!! :)

  15. Perhaps insurance cos could consider paying for gym memberships as a preventative step? Obviously exercise on a regular basis prevents many health problems over time. I know that would never happen but it'd be nice!

Ours does. It doesn't pay for the whole membership but I believe it's 50%. I don't use it as I have a treadmill and an elliptical machine and would rather exercise at home than drag my butt somewhere else to do it, but even 50% is a nice incentive.

  16. Okay, my solution to health care:

    1. Put health care into the hands medical doctors and nurses. I bet they know just a little more about treating patients than an insurance company or the government.

    2. Emphasize preventative measures. Sometimes you can't prevent something and all you can do is treat it. However, if prevention can be achieved by either avoiding a health issue or reducing its severity, why not do it? Regardless of which system -- American or Canadian -- exists, if people took better care of themselves and tried to prevent health problems more than expecting a "miracle cure" from their doctor, it'd have to help out.

I could not agree with you more regarding preventative medicine. The company I work for changed our insurance program (which was the standard PPO previously) four years ago and has seen a HUGE decrease in costs. They made two moves.

The first was to make preventative medicine covered 100%. I can get a blood workup (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc.), full physical, all yearly girly stuff (mammogram, OBGYN appt.), all yearly guy stuff (prostate exam), monthly blood pressure checks, etc. every year at no cost. Once a particular age is hit, it includes many other preventative screenings also like a yearly colonoscopy. The dental also covers teeth cleaning twice a year at no cost. The second move was to give each employee a certain amount of money up front that we can spend on whatever before the regular PPO (deductible and then 80/20) kicks in. For a family, the yearly amount it $2000. As a bonus, if you don't use all of your $2000, it rolls over to the next year. My family's been fortunate to be healthy and currently has over $7000 to use before a dime would come out of our pocket. I should say that we do pay for our healthcare here, but it's minimal. I pay a little over $50 a paycheck (twice a month) and that covers medical, dental and life insurance for every member of my family.

What we have found is that the healthcare costs have dropped so drastically that we have not seen an increase in our rates during these four years which is relatively rare right now. Bottom line - people are finding out about issues early thus being treated early making it all much cheaper. It's a shame more companies don't institute this kind of insurance.

  17. My 4 cases have been completed on July 24 2009, obviously I missed the 2nd week of July scheduling. Is it reasonable to believe that we will receive interview dates for the month of September? Anyone already have September Interviews?

No one seems to have September interviews yet, but if you check the interview list for CR1/IR1, it generally runs about three months from the time your case is complete. Assuming that stays the same, you'd be looking at October, but who knows. I haven't figured Montreal out just yet.

How long did you have to wait to hear when NVC was complete till you received your interview date?

Our case was complete on May 20th and we received our interview date on June 23rd for an August 19th interview. I think. I can't see my timeline as I'm typing this so I'm going by memory. There were some people scheduled in June also that had been approved since April, so I didn't feel so bad about waiting. Their wait was awful! For whatever reason, Montreal didn't schedule any CR1/IR1 interviews (that we're aware of) for July. It was strange.

BTW, I forgot to say congrats for getting approved. Last I remember from our February group, you were still waiting on one last approval. Yea for you!! I hope you have some luck getting things moved along so you can get your kids in school. I know that is very important to you. :star:

I have submitted 2 emails to NVC Supervisor Sue and both have come back rejecting my expedite request. I sent another today to Montreal requesting the same, probably get rejected but never hurts to try. ANyway I forwarded the MTL address info / times etc list to my wife today and needless to say she is a little upset...

    Sent to wife...

    US Consulate info for Montreal

    US Consulate info

    She sent to me...

Did you seriously read any of this %$@t???? wait time and stuff????

I need to sit with all 3 kids by myself for 1-3 hours and wait in

line for at least 30 minutes before the f%$#ing doors even open????

very nice. We won't be there for another f@#$ing few months. bull

    f%##ing s%$t.

Needless to say it's was a great phone call tonight. I have tried everything possible to get everything rolling, put together when needed to, everything lined up and ready to go when requested and it sucks that this takes sooo long where here in AZ the illegal population goes untouched and don't have to fork out thousands of dollars to be here.

    thanks for the congrats!

 Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm laughing at your wife. I'm just laughing that her response was exactly what mine was a few months ago. I know IN is nothing like AZ when it comes to the illegals, but we have more than our fair share of them too. It drives me insane and totally pisses me off.
