  1. Yep, it was Express Mail. I asked about redelivering and that's when USPS told me I should check with the NVC first and see if it would be delivered automatically in their mail today. Funny how the USPS wouldn't know that. lol The more the I think about it, the more I think I'll call USPS back and tell them it's not being delivered in their Monday mail and please issue a redelivery order.

  2. Hey SomberCat,

I also mailed my documents on 17th via FedEx and the Overnight charges were higher and then I thought its Saturday next day so wouldn't make sense.. So I made it to deliver on Monday... which it did.. It was delivered this morning around 9:30.. but I guess USPS should redeliver it today..

Rehan, I just used USPS because I can still get it there in one day and it's a lot cheaper than FedEx or UPS.

DesiDon, since you realized the next day was Saturday, you are definitely smarter than me. I guess I'll just check the USPS site tomorrow and see if the delivery status changes and check NVC later in the week and see if the AOS info gets put into their system.

  3. Hi everyone! This is going to sound like a strange question, but I'm wondering if anyone else who has mailed anything to the NVC has done this and knows the answer. I sent the AOS package on Friday the 17th. Admittedly, I was not thinking properly at the time and sent it for next day delivery. Obviously they're not open on Saturday, so that was stupid. Anyway, I checked the USPS website to see if it was delivered today, and it says it's at the post office waiting for someone to pick it up and that the NVC was notified. #######? Wouldn't they just deliver it in Monday's mail?

I called the post office and they said I needed to check with the NVC about their mail policies. They said each individual business is responsible for telling the post office how they would like to receive Saturday mail when they're not open on Saturdays. One would think all businesses would simply have the mail delivered on Monday right? I know we do. I spoke with the NVC and for the first time, I got a seriously unhelpful operator who said she did not know anything about their mail delivery and refused to send me to a supervisor. Thanks for nothing.

Has anyone sent anything that would normally have been delivered on a Saturday and was it delivered on Monday okay?

  4. It's poutine!

It is? That was my initial guess, but in the shot where it's sitting on the alarm clock, my husband noted that there is something brown that appears to be hanging over the edge. We figured if it was gravy it would look more like it was running down the side instead of hanging over it. That's a big darn bowl of poutine... sounds good right now.

  5. This reminds me of a story I was watching on CBC a while back. It was an elderly man who had served for Canadian forces in World War II and is one of a small pool of war survivors around today. Some time in the 1970's me moved to the US, for whatever reason, and eventually became an American citizen and was forced to denounce his Canadian citizenship. He was petitioning the government to have his Canadian citizenship restored at the age of 90 something. They made it seem like he was having problems getting anyone to take his requests seriously... So, looks like the man got his wish! Canada really is the most cosmopolitan country in the world.

This isn't completely related to the subject, but I have to ask. What's in the styrofoam bowl/cup thing? It's at the 20 second interval of the video sitting on his alarm next to the syrup and it also appears later in the video as he's holding it. I can't figure out what it's supposed to be and I'm on the computer with my husband right now (he's the Canadian) and he can't figure it out either.

  6. "The guy" at the police certificate place came through today! I officially have no criminal record in Canada! Not that I'm surprised at all, but it's still a relief! I'll have to suck it up and pay the extra $40 for express or priority mail on Monday, so that my husband will be able to send the DS-230 off as soon as possible.

I'm glad "the guy" came through for you. That still cracks me up. lol That's just in the nick of time since you'll no doubt be sending in your DS-230 package next week. I know what you mean about the $40. My husband and I were just saying the other day that although the fees add up, it's the little stuff that adds up and really gets you - the shipping, the overnight mailing (17.50 in the US), the medical (which is outrageous), the police certificate, etc. Heck, I spent $35 just at the post office this week (17.50 for the DS-3032 and 17.50 for the AOS package). Not that $35 is going to break me, but it's the principal.

  7. OMG !!!!!!

Just called NVC to see if there was any news........

Case numbers have been issued for the I-130''s for both my parents... Officer told me they were input into the system yesterday and case numbers issued today.:dance::dance:

We are on our way again..

Hope you all get your case numbers soon.

    congratulation :)

    hope the rest come soon

    pray for us :)

did u got it from the AVR or an operator ?!

I never do the AVR thing. I always talk to an operator. The AVR still says "case not found" even though the officer gave me both the case numbers and took my email and my parents email.

icalled them and still no case ...need more patience ..

    Good Night everyone

Based on who got theirs in the last day, I would think you're looking at Monday or Tuesday don't you think? Hang in there, it's coming and then it will go so fast you'll wish it was slower.

  8. hey Sombercat, how did you email the DS-3032? did you just send the template filled out that pm me? do you have to attach a pdf file of the DS-3032 along with the email?

Yep, I just sent the template filled out that I sent to you. It has all of the information in it that they need. I didn't attach a PDF of it as it's not necessary, but I did read recently that someone else did that. I figured since I was sending the hard copy also, I'd just send them the filled out template.

  9. Thank you :)

I really really really hope the rest of the process is as fast as this!

    I am SO happy

It really does go fast in my opinion. It will take you a while to get your case number, but after that it flies so make sure you have everything ready. It took me 16 days to get my case number, but that was a week ago today and now I've already sent my DS-3032 email, DS-3032 hard copy, AOS fee and AOS package. I do have to admit that waiting for the case number was starting to irritate me though.

  10. oh my godddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

My hands are shaking! I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy!

Oops! I totally missed you HisGirl. There were a lot of posts on here this afternoon and I'm trying to catch up. A big congrats to you and welcome to the NVC adventure. :star:

Congrats to all the NOA2's !!!!! And the NVC case #'s !!!! So glad to see the progress made.......Congrats to everyone! Still waiting for my DS 3032 to be accepted and we mailed the AOS package today....Have a great weekend everyone!

DesiDon and I both mailed our AOS packages today so it looks like the three of us are going at the same speed. I can't believe I'm excited about getting a $400 bill (IV fee) hopefully next week. Someone shoot me.

  11. Hey SomberCat..

reading your post.. I quickly went into my receipt to see if my payments were also approved.. cus we had it issued on same day.. and guess what its status was changed to PAID.. immidiately I downloaded the Coversheet and now I am off to Post office to post all the documents...

Good Luck to all others.. get ready for a exciting ride

Hey DesiDon, I'm glad you went and looked. Did you get everything sent at the post office?

Woooohoooo!!!! DS-3032 and I-864 Fee generated! this is the first time im looking forward to paying a bill LOL

Alright!! Did you get the DS-3032 finished okay?

  12. Congrats, kevinbui on finally getting your case number! now the fun part begins...

Driade, your husband doesn't NEED the tax transcripts. he can also just send a photocopy of his returns along with the corresponding W2's, 1099's, and Schedules. It is definitely less work to use the the transcripts, but if you don't feel like waiting the extra two weeks... it might be worth it to gather all that together instead of contacting the IRS. The choice is yours.

Sombercat, I thought that the shortcut was a bit misleading as well. I think the only major thing you have to do to fly through NVC is get all the supporting documents and evidence in order while you are waiting for your case number. But, we aren't finished yet... so who knows.

As for the DS3032, we decided just to send a copy in the mail. They recieved it on April 10th and accepted it on April 14. That is two business days, so in our case, I don't think e-mailing it would have been any faster.

Carlish, NVC should have gotten our AOS package this morning. I called to speak to a representative earlier tonight, and she said that it may be in the building... but hasn't been scanned in yet. I got delivery confirmation from FedEx... so I know it is there somewhere!

I also sent the IV (DS230) package tonight with Priority Overnight... so they should get it by 10:30 tomorrow morning. I guess now all we can do is wait. :clock:

Still no news with the expedite... it obviously wouldn't help much now at NVC, but it could still get us an earlier interview date in Italy. We are trying to stay optimistic! :star:

Chrissy e Ben - just curious, can you get an interview date in Italy pretty fast? I was just thinking about your pregnancy and looking at the calendar and wondering if you have a shot at making it. I know Canada (Montreal) is backed up and it takes 2-3 months, but is it safe to assume Italy is much faster?

  13. Congrats Whidbeygirl! Glad you're on the NVC bus. :star:

My AOS fee showed paid at 11:14 this morning. What perfect timing as lunch starts at 11:30, so I printed out my cover sheet, put it in the package, sealed it up and ran down to the post office. What a great day. :D The sun is shining, it's going to be 70 and life is good... other than not having my husband here of course. :innocent: Oh #######, I have to mow tonight too. That sucks.

  14. NVC finally emailed the IV Fee Agent Letter few minutes ago, and I immediately paid the bill. Hopefully, I can print the cover sheet soon so I can send the DS-230 package either tomorrow or on Saturday. :star:

I got the same email less than two hours ago! Haven't paid it just yet though.

I finally managed to go in for the police certificate today, but it won't be ready til tomorrow. That was an ordeal. I called them last Thursday to see what identification I need to bring and what the cost is, and said I'd be right over. I got there 20 minutes later and was told that 'the guy who does those is gone for the day'. They're supposed to be open until 6pm, and I was there at 3:30! I was not impressed. Then, of course, they were closed for the long weekend until Tuesday. So I went back yesterday at 4:30... same thing 'the guy is gone'. Anyway, so I went back this afternoon and 'the guy' was actually there. Yay. Now I just need 'the guy' to promptly call me when the results are available.

lol I love the way every Canadian story about getting a police certificate is different. I assume other countries are the same way too. My husband got his in March and he was in and out in less than 15 minutes... $30 lighter though. We laugh about it because the certificate has an old speeding ticket on it. We never thought about silly things like that being on there. I digress. Glad you finally got to see "the guy". I like that term. It sounds like he's with the mafia or something.

BTW, I'm curious. I see that both you and Carlish paid your AOS fee online and it showed paid the following day. Mine hasn't yet and I was hoping to send my AOS package tomorrow. Do you know if one day is the norm or is it usually longer?

  15. hey guys, are you waiting for your ds-3032 and I-864 bill hard copy to arrive in mail to take action or do they provide that to you via email? am i suppose to wait for my I-864 bill hard copy so i can pay the bill or is NVC going to send me an email with all the info so i can pay online. P.S I already gave NVC my email address

They will provide it to you via email. Myself and a few others received our emails yesterday. I paid my bill online last night, sent a DS-3032 email last night and sent the DS-3032 hard copy today as a back up to the email. So just sit tight and you'll get the email. It took five days to get mine (only three business days) after I got my case number.

  16. OMG, guys, Im such an idiot, I have been putting in the wrong case number. I just called the NVC and my case was received on April 10th, 2009. My DS-3032 was mailed out on April 15th, 2009, it was too late for me to give the email addresses. But, I gave them anyway. She said that she was going to put in a request to have it resent by email.

CASE Transfered to NVC 17 days.................................................................

Im praying for the rest of you............................................................

See, look at that. You and I got our case numbers assigned on the same date and we also got our DS-3032/AOS bill the same day. Hopefully they can send the email to you as that will help you catch up on a few lost days. Congrats on joining the NVC crowd. :star:

I know, But you already received your AOS Bill and paid it. I have to wait for it by snail mail, ugghhhhhh. Is the the AOS fee bill invoice number, the same as your NVC number or USCIS number? What website did you pay it at?

Nope, the IIN is a totally different number. It will be on the letter you get. The website address is on the letter also, but it's immigrantvisas.state.gov and it's really easy to use. I didn't check what state you're in, but hopefully you're not too far away from New Hampshire so the snail mail won't take so long.

  18. Do U have to mail ur DS3032 also, tough only was email it, Sombercat or u talkng about ur AOS package, cuz am freak out, i never read about mail ur agent selection too.

By the wat GRATZ to Desison and Sombercat, ya seems like we are going together mine will take a bit more till my hubby can get the tax stuffs.

First, congrats kevinbui86!! That was a long wait brother!

Driade, you don't have to mail in the DS-3032 also. I've just seen stories here and there about people who've emailed them and they haven't been received for some reason, so I've decided to email it and mail the hard copy also. I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.

  19. It looks like Driade, DesiDon and myself are on the same schedule. I got my DS-3032/AOS fee email tonight also and just got done taking care of both. I'm going to mail the hard copy of the DS-3032 to them tomorrow also. BTW, thanks again Holliday for answering my question and saving my a$$. It's great to have Holliday and Carlish a week ahead of us. If I get lost, I just follow what you guys are doing, so don't screw up! Just kidding of course. :star:

I do have to throw an extra comment in regarding the IIN. Much like the discussion earlier, I was also confused by this (until Holliday straightened me out), but I believe it's because of the way I read the shortcut. In the shortcut, it stresses over and over that you have to get your IIN as soon as possible and you're screwed without it. It refers to pestering operators over and over until you can get it and in reality, you don't really need to do that. Since it shows up in the first AOS fee email and the AOS fee is the first thing you can pay, there's no point to even calling NVC to ask for it. Make sense? Is it just me or is the shortcut a shade misleading? I know, it's probably just me.
