  1. Great, now I've got something to fret over...

A Lookout Hit or Red Flag Hit can be generated on a visa petition, among other reasons, for any the following:

    *Past arrest record

    *Past criminal conviction record

    *Past firearms record

*Past record of domestic violence or sexual offenses

*Past fingerprint record with any law enforcement agency

    *Past visa or immigration history

    *Watch List or Pending Charges

I've been printed numerous times for employment and professional licenses in more than one state.

  2. IF you're filing your initial petition, then your fiance normally would not HAVE an ALIEN NUMBER YET. UNLESS, she was once here in the US on a work permit, possibly. SO, with no number...just type the word 'NONE' in that spot.

Hi i had seminar already here in cebu..no need appointment just go there early morning dont forget to bring 2 identification and the followings:

    Birth certificate..photo copy

    marriage certificate...original from NSO

    passport both .....photo copies

    pictures

Hi Katy. My fiance' plans to attend in Cebu. She has her CENOMAR, NSO birth cert., and passport. Photocopies of all that are enough? Her only photo ID is a voters' registration, plus her non-NSO birth cert and baptismal cert. You think that is enough? Does she need original passport for some sort of initial stamping that she has attended it?

WHAT kind of photos does she need to bring? I don't understand that one. Thanks.

  4. IF your connecting flight is PAL/Air Philippines, you won't even have to leave the new Centennial terminal at the airport. IF you have a connection to Cebu Pac, or other carriers, then it involves a bus-ride or long walk to the other terminal, from what I understand. Just keep your wits about you, and you'll be fine.

Very likely, someone who's done it a time or two will be there, and might lend you a hand with your confusion or questions. While the RP officials I encountered were not necessarily 'cordial', I didn't find that they were at all rude. Just very matter-of-fact, businesslike comportment.

  5. In what she was explaining to me, that was in inquiring about a job as a sales clerk in the department store. She didn't mention the contract, but perhaps that was what the employer was talking about.

Yes, I think there ought to be plenty for her to consider without having to sign any sort of contract. Still, we're hoping our NOA 2 won't be much longer than 4mos away, so it would be a temporary job.

  6. My fiance wants to stay in the city to have ready access to computer and mail, rather than go back to her village. She's thought of getting a job. However, she was told even to be a sales clerk, you are expected to committ to the job. IF she were to quit before 3mos of service, that they could "take her to court".

I asked her if what they mean is that she might owe them for training her, or the costs of processing employment. However, she seemed pretty clear that they were telling her it was some sort of civil {criminal?} penalty.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

  7. I have been VERY pleased with Startec...

NO connection charge, and 16.9c min. to the cell with 11.9c min. to land-line. Here's my Feb. tracking so far. We've been using a lot of YM, so that's why the durations are limited, LOL..

That last one is from my cell-phone, which bills directly to my home line. Pretty slick. Of course, I still pay the per-minute cell charge as usual, in addition to their's.

  8. I'm with everyone else who's told you to wait a couple extra months. However, the issue of her age is more for the CFO. For their purposes, I put together a letter with language similar to this.....

    To Whom It May Concern:

I {father of fiance} am the father of {beneficiary}. My family and I approve of our daughter's decision to marry

{USC Petitioner}. She has our support and blessing in her new future in the United States.

    Sincerely,

    {father of fiance}

I left room for her dad to sign it under the salutation. Then, we photocopied dad's voter ID card which has his matching signature. I not saying it's the only solution, it's just that when it comes up in your case it's comforting to have on hand with you to present to the officials.

  9. You have to travel to her THERE, then return to the USA and file from HERE. It's not easy.

I'm assuming you know that she's worth it. So, suck it up and get busy planning, LOL.

Seriously, I've never been out of the country, and I had a fantastic time over there with a "tour-guide" whom I want to spend the rest of my life with.

Just a thought....Perhaps the folks people saw at the USEM were those who returned to be with their fiance' through the medical and interview process?

  10. I would choose the one on his BC. HOwever, I would also include a response to that question on the same page as you answer your question #18. Or, perhaps a separate page wouldn't hurt, just to point out the discrepancy and that his Gov't nadvertenly transposed the wrong info on his passport. :)

  11. [We were paying a lotttt of money just to pay some glorified form filler who add to our problems/high blood pressure ;)

My friend used one also, and it was the same result. He was LIVID that the lawyer never told him about the G325A forms, and the NEED for the fiance's original signature. Thus, more delays, and money in FedEx fees to get the docs there and back quickly.

I read everything I could, and posted a few questions. Did it myself, and feel confident that the didn't screw it up.

Even if I get RFE'd, I don't see that adding any more time than I would've needed in hiring someone.

I would encourage YOU to feel confident also. Afterall, that money you would budget for an attorney could be better spent enjoying your time in the RP with your loved one. In 11 days, I was able to spend over 2K, and that was without being too extravagant, IMHO! Remember, unless your fiance' is a professional career person there, or from a wealthy family, expect everything to be on YOU. All lodging, meals, transportation, gifts {not just for her, but immediate family}, etc. Plus, you may find her family with a 'need' or two when you arrive that just tears at your heart. Your fiance' may not have told you, either, out of pride or shyness. A leaky roof, or a broken refrigerator, or even something as simple as a nice foam mattress to sleep on may pop-up. Trust me, if you find that you really do love her, you'll want to help out within your means.

  12. Yes, Barrio Fiest is right behind the I-HOP restaurant. It's sort of hidden from view as you go east on Elliot, just past Alma School. So, turn into the parking lot at I-Hop, then you'll see it right behind there.

I ate at a Barrio Fiesta inside the Ayala Mall in Cebu. It was NOT GOOD. Thankfully, this one right here in Chandler is VERY good. I've had their kare-kare, garlic rice, and fried squid. All yummy.

  13. For dinner, if you like seafood, I liked the Su-Tu-Kill houses at the Lapu-Lapu Memorial out on Mactan Island.

Fresh seafood, cooked as you like, right on water.

After dinner, consider another side-trip. There's a famous viewing overlook there known as 'Tops', as in the top of the mountains. My local guide suggested the alternative of Mountain View Park, instead. WOW! That's the best memory of Cebu that I'll have forever.

You drive up the side of the mountains, and it's fairly steep, and my ears popped...so you know you're climbing. At the top, it's all set-up as a 'lover's lane' experience with romantic benches, swings, tables, etc, all overlooking the north of Cebu and Mandue. Absolutely gorgeous. There's a refreshments vendor, with drinks, and a clean CR up there also. It's at the foot of a giant cross that's all lit-up, I'd say about 60' tall. IIRC, the security man collected about P400 from us on the way up as an entrance fee. There is limited parking, so you may be dissappointed if you go too late!

BTW, what makes it different than TOPS is the seating, refreshments and CR. It's not simply an overlook.

  14. I personally go through LBC as they have a low rate for their air pouch and envelope. As for money, if they needed it so bad, go through westernunion or luckymoney or again through LBC.

WOW! I guess so far that I've been very blessed in my mailings so far! I have not personally asked my fiance' about EVERY letter I've sent, but based on what I have asked about, she appears to have gotten them ALL. Several cards, including Christmas cards, and several padded envelopes also. Plus, she couldn't possibly live any further east in the Visayas, and it all seems to have arrived there in 3weeks, give or take a day!

I was also told by some local town coucilmen that the PO there is privatized, so the mail-carrier is not a government employee. That makes it even more scary, IMHO.

Okay, can the poster quoted above please tell us a little bit more about LBC and how it works?

  15. Driving school, IF at all possible, for a couple of reasons.

One. We're men. We're stubborn, and we're naturally a bit concieted. We DON'T know it all, and that includes the rules-of-the-road for driving, defensive driving tactics, traffic laws, etc.

Two. We ALL have bad habits, or perhaps at least habits which aren't the most efficient or safe behind the wheel. No need to pass them on to our spouses.

Three. It's a FACT that it's naturally more difficult to learn from a loved-one than from a private party. You have certain expectations to please your loved-one, and expect certain sympathy from him/her. You don't have this bond with a private instructor. Only the desire to learn it properly, to pass the exams, etc. Less hurt feelings and the possiblity for causing some pain in your relationship.

    Hope that makes sense?:)

  16. I have no idea what the temp or humidity was on Cebu when I landed on 1/20. However, I looked out the airplane window to see a porter hustling out a shopping cart with umbrellas. Since the sun was beaming, I asked WHAT the umbrellas were about. My fiance' said, "It's hot here, honey.".

I've spent 13 summers in Phoenix, and I grew up near Miami, Florida. I'm feeling Cebu was hotter.

I don't think she, nor any other pinay will have ANY trouble with our DRY HEAT here, LOL. :)
