We met in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua, outside of the capital Managua in January 2007. Sarah was volunteering at a sustainable development NGO where Yader worked.
We started dating in May 2007. Engaged September 2007.
We started the arduous process of 'making Yader legal' in September 2007 when Sarah returned to the US and we applied for a visitors visa and were quickly turned down in October 2007.
In November Sarah returned to Nicaragua and began exploring how to apply for a fiance visa.
December 2007, Sarah back to the US.
January 2008, we decided to hire a lawyer to save sanity and we began collecting legal documents, which took until July 2008!!!!
We finally filed the K-1 in Aug 2008. We were approved in Jan 2009. Interview and visa granted in Feb 2009.

Yader has been in St. Louis since February and culture shock is abundant! But it's still a great adventure and one I wouldn't want to take with anyone else!
