  1. Our case was transferred to CA in June and nothing since then. Just got email from CRIS tonight that it is now "pending." I guess that means that before now it was just sitting in a vault and now someone may actually look at it.

same here! i had my biometrics june 16 and received my work and travel document last july 2. I received an email from cris that my papers was transfered to california june 25 and since then i haven't received any news...i am hoping to be able to receive my green card before the 2nd of december since i will be flying back to my country to fix my other wedding ceremony there.

  2. Oh, I am so aggravated right now. Went to the license office here in St. Louis to renew my driver's license and showed up with everything: all my NOAs, my passport, my SS, my marriage license. They wouldn't renew my license! She wanted an "approval" notice of the I-485! I tried to explain to her that those things take a long time, but she just shrugged and said there was nothing she could do and asked me to call Jefferson City. I just went online to look at requirements for renewal and it says on the DOR site that for "applicants of adjustment of status" you just need immigration document indicating status (the NOA!) and either an EAD or passport. Either one! I'm going to call up a different license office and PRINT OUT THE PDF FROM THEIR WEBSITE and take with me. Today I'm really not enjoying being an immigrant.

As for what I miss from home? Food. I've been here almost three months now and I cannot get used to the food. I miss Thai food on the streets. And I miss my mom a lot.

hello i don't know if this would help but i already have my MD driver's license..i went to MVA to change my name to my married name already. i just told them that i lost my driver's lic and would like to get a new card and have my new name on it..i just presented them my marriage license and in 30 mins i was out of the office. the clerk told me that i also need to have my ssn change to my new name and days after i was able to change my name on it without any problem.

  3. just had my follow up tetanus shot...i went to Dr. Chopra of Arundel Medical Group in Glen burnie. I did not go through my physical exam anymore as i told him i had my medical in the Philippines before i went here. I only paid $75 for the consultation fee and $35(for the TD shot) + $15 for the service fee. I recommend for people living nearby Baltimore to visit his office since he knows what to do already...He gave me the I-693 on a sealed envelope. I also had my driver's license and my ssn changed to my married name already...just need to print my pictures and just waiting for my husband's employment certificate then i can already send out my AOS packet.

  4. Hi there!

I got two question, which might be stupid, but I am totally overwhelmed by all the stuff right now.

    1. On form I-485, Page 3, Question 12: I had a J-1 Visa 3 years ago. I had the 2 year foreign residence, but I obtained some waiver visa when I went to see my husband. So I have to check yes. Is that correct? It is so confusing, because I think the 2 year foreign residence is way more important than obtaining a waiver...

    2. On form G-325A, First line: What is the File Number? There is an A already printed. Do I have to put my Alien registration number in there?

Thank you so much for helping me out. :)

Hi there!!! is there any chance you got the answer for Question number 1? i have the same problem also hahahaa lol i don't know what to answer if its yes/no... i had my 2 year residency rule but got a waiver for that already.

follow up Question..is the Alien number the A# written on my k1 visa and on my I-94 ?

  5. Thanks Pete, yeah i have posted about that already in AOS but til now no good reply yet. If i do get some info i would share it to you coz i know you would be looking for a civil surgeon somewhere in baltimore area also soon.

I have read about exemptions since you would have already had the medical exam within the past year and same with the vaccination record. You might want to post this in the AOS board or do a search.
  6. Hello count me in! but i am about to submit my AOS papers its just that i need my vaccination record done. does anyone know a civil surgeon around baltimore who would just give me the vaccination shot and sign the papers...i dont kneed the medical/physical examination anymore and all the doctors that i've called said that i need to undergo the medical exam before they would sign my vaccination supplement record and its ####### coz i need to pay about $200 for the doctor's fee instead of just the Tdap vaccine that would only cost like $50

  7. hi everyone!!! its tough here in usa coz of the bad weather in baltimore...when i arrived it was drizzling and then few days after it was sunny and hot, after a few weeks of vacation with the change of weather from sunny, rainy and the cold i got the flu but its good it just started with the spring allergy and now i'm almost well but its not the H1N1 or swine flu hahaha coz i don't have any fever its just the common colds.

Has anyone started with the AOS i have been having problems with the civil surgeon around my area coz they wont give me the vaccination follow up i need unless i go through the whole medical/physical exam and it would cost like almost $200. I read thru the websites that i need the I-693 form and only need to submit part 1, part 2 (vaccination section), part 5 (signature of the civil surgeon) but i've called almost 5 already and they said they would only sign unless i go thru the whole medical thing.

  8. Hi Everyone! i miss reading some posts here in VJ specially this october thread....i've been very busy since i arrived here in Maryland and got married last April 16 in the courthouse in annapolis MD. It was a very simple one we just had lunch at red lobster after the ceremony wherein it was only me and my husband, my parents, his parents, and my sister in law with the boyfriend. Then the weekend after that we had a small party in our house wherein we invited our Filipino friends and family members who live nearby. We and my parents have been traveling around the area..I already took them to Washington DC and Baltimore Inner harbor, and right now i am in Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City and then spending the a week in NJ,NYC and Boston...A week left then my hubby will be back to work after his almost 3 week vacation for our wedding =)

I hope everyone is almost done with the interview and stuff...after the vacation i will then file my AOS and another journey of paper works hahaha

  9. Most flights to USA stops at an asian country as a connecting flight...i think it is okay to stay for like 3 nights before entering usa as what i did when i travelled to usa using my tourist visa i stayed in korea for 2 nights but it would be a hassle coz she would be bringing in her 2 50lbs bags with her to the hotel where she would be staying..i wouldn't recommend it all. And if she is a Filipino she wouldn't need a visa for most asian countries if she would be staying for just a few nights.

  10. try to check www.jetcombo.com. they have a direct flight from Manila to DTW

Are you sure about the direct flight? I don't find any direct flights from either Detroit or Chicago to Manila. Has anyone seen a direct flight via Chicago or Detroit? Thanks.

If its northwest i'm sure it would stop at japan then proceed to detroit or minneapolis before going somewhere within usa.

my flight is korean air.. mnl-korea-washington dc.

  11. My fiancée was able to get her medical and police cert done yesterday. A woman at the hospital was also getting her medical for the visa, though she had already had the interview. She did not speak English, so there was a Thai translator and my fiancée said one of the questions asked of this lady was "When was the last time you slept with your fiancé?" I told my fiancée to be prepared for some abrupt questions. She doesn't seem to mind at all though.

Congrats Johan and Ann!!! All the best winifedbee. .

    Whoa

yup they asked me that question during the medical but it was something like "did you have physical contact for the past 2 months? "and you also need to know the 1st day of your last menstrual period. The last thing was the immunization and they gave me mmr and tdap and while injecting it to me the doctor said that i must not try to be pregnant for at least a month coz of the live vaccine she is giving me. And both my arms hurt for like 4 days because of the medicine but injecting it was not painful.

Congrats ruby_mtl for your NOA2 !!!! wuhooo!

  12. Well I got my Packet 3 today. Kind of anti-climatic as the UK one is just a letter with links on how to download the forms and book your medical.

So that is what the packet 3 is hahaha i thought that would be called packet 4 but whatever it is....that letter arrived so late! i did my research and was able to schedule my interview appointment and go for my medical with just the EAC# and the MNL# and without that letter. My interview appointment was march 11 at 7am, after the interview i went straight home coz i was so sleepy and that was about an hour drive from my house because of traffic and then the letter just arrived delivered by DHL i opened it and read the letter and said useless letter coz i already passed the interview and would just need to wait about 3 days for my visa delivery. If i would have waited for that letter maybe by now i haven't gone thru everything.

  13. yup you need NBI clearance and police certificate from other countries if the person lived there for more than 6 months.....

if the person lived in usa NO NEED police clearance from any usa state..got my police clearance from the state of MD coz i inquired and called up usem and that was the answer i got "that i need a police clearance from MD coz i lived there for 19 months" but then the pre screener during my interview said they don't need it and that i wasn't supposed to get that coz usa does their own background check i told him that they should give correct info when someone inquires over the phone.
