May want to also think about school records. Not so easy to get once in the US.
Even High School records are good to have.
My wife had one instance where she was required to show proof of graduation from High School for a job application.

I have written my congressman - no reply....
I may write again....
Get them on the phone!!
Emails and letters are easy to ignor but upset person on the phone is not so much....

Should have paid the $165 fee before she left the Phils, green card won't arrive until that fee is paid.
When Mom-in-law arrived, we got a letter from USCIS about 30 days after arrival with instructions on paying the fee.
I was expecting the same this time arouns as well.
So far its not arrived.

Hello everyone!!
My sister-in-law arrived in the US on a I-130 visa on Oct 26th.
So far no Green Card.
Any idea how long it should take before she gets the letter from USCIS so she can pay the fee?
Its been almost 2 months now an that seems like too long.

Why would they need to "reacquire" their Philippine citizenship if they're natural born citizens of the Philippines?
I might be misinterpreting this but I'm not sure:
http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/consular%20services/conserv-dual.htm
What is Republic Act No. 9225?
Republic Act No. 9225 otherwise known as the Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003 declares that natural-born citizens of the Philippines who become citizens of another country shall be deemed not to have lost their Philippine citizenship
You need to include all of the law:
RA 9225 does not apply to dual citizens, i.e., those who have both Philippine as well as foreign citizenship not acquired through naturalization.
“..Natural –born citizens of the Philippines who have lost their Philippine citizenship by reason of their naturalization as citizens of a foreign country are hereby deemed to have re-acquired Philippine citizenship upon taking the oath of allegiance to the Republic.” (Section 3, RA 9225)

Any Philippine citizen who takes the oath to become a USC, MUST file with the Philippine government to reaquire their Philippine citizenship.
My wife just went thru this last October.

When you enter the Philippines you must show both the US and the Philippine passport.
If you enter on the Philippine passport how would you leave?
You have no visa in that passport to enter the US.
If you show your US passport you will be asked where is the entry stamp?
I know this as I was given a very stern lecture by the emmigrations officer when I tried this very thing with my daughter, who is a dual citizen.
You MUST submit both passports when you enter the Philippines.

vaccinations are INCLUDED with the medical. Don't have to do anything special.
This is only true if they have not run out of any specific vaccine as happened with my Sister-in-Law.
She still has 2 to get over here now because St Lukes was 'out'.
I suppose she could have stayed in the Philippines for a few more months and waited for them to come back into stock...

My wife met 3 other Filipina ladies on her flight to New York, who were going there for the same reason as her. No need to worry.
Thats good news, she is just worried about making the connecting flight out of Tokyo.
Having never been in a plane before I can understand this concern.
She will not change airlines so I am expecting it will be a snap.
We would be meeting her at POE in Minneapolis.

Hello Everyone,
From what I have read and heard about CFO is that now you set up an appointment and there is none of the 4AM waiting in line anymore.
But...
I just registered my Sister-in-Law on the CFO web site and found this statement:
Schedule of Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (first come, first served)
First come First served sure sounds like waiting at 4AM so what gives??
Is there a site I need to go to, to actually get her an appointment or want??
I am also seeing:
No Reservations Required for CFO PDOS

Doubt she will be required to get the shot as the green card will be issued as soon as she clears POE (and the fee paid)
Maybe... she has already received a call from the embassy about getting the shots in the US...
-P
-
Thanks for the info!
She did call and setup an appointment but only for one of the 2 that she was missing as that 2nd one was still 'out of stock'...
Does anyone know if she will be required to get that missing shot before she can be issued a green card?

Hello,
When I Sister-in-Law had her medical she was told they, St. Likes, was 'out' of 2 of her required vaccinations and that she should call back on Oct 9th.
So she did.
And was told that they only had one of them in stock at this time and she could schedule a time to come back and get that one.
I do not see any others commenting that they were missing any vaccinations from their medicals...
Any ideas on what is going on?
She was told that she could get them here in the US and while that is true, we paid for them there at St.Lukes and getting them here in the US will be pretty pricy...
Is it normal to be 'out' of meds like this?

I would start here:

Visa was delivered today and ticket it being booked!
What a long strange trip its been...
-
For me it means the actual visa is issued (the sticker they put in your passport) and they are processing (cross checking the visa and the passport and the address to send it to) before it is delivered.
What other 'status' besides ISSUED could be displayed?
It could display REFUSED but I doubt you'd get/want that. For you, the last status is ISSUED.
I was thinking maybe 'Administrative Review' could be one that could still happen...
-P
-
Well the ISSUED date that will show on the visa is the date of that notice on CEAC, and yes it has been issued... just not delivered... you know... check is in the mail.
I hope so. This has been a long battle for my wife and her family. Many heartbreaks and tears.
End of next week would be the delivery date then.
Will the status change again?
Like maybe 'In Transit' or 'Out For Delivery' and such?
-P
-
Yes that does mean actually issued, and that is the issued date.
It still needs to be printed, packaged and pickup by 2GO, but it has been issued.. just not delivered yet.
I do not agree... Just because they have authorized the visa to be issued does not mean its actually issued.
I view it like the IRS, just because they authorize a refund, it does not mean the check is cut.
-P
-
I see that https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx shows ISSUED.
I know this simply means "We have authorized issuance of your visa", which is good.
I understand this means its not actually issued.
How do I discover what the "issuance date" is?
What other 'status' besides ISSUED could be displayed?
Thanks!

Sister-in-Law had her interview Wednesday and was told to go home and wait for her visa in about 10 days.
they kept her passport, only asked 5 questions, Do you have a new CENOMAR, whats your age, who filed for you, what does she do in the US and.... I forget the last one...
They did not require a new CENOMAR just wanted to know if she had one. She did not.
Now we wait 10 days and see what shows up in the post.
Anyone know how long it takes before https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx updates?

Just make sure the name matches on all paperwork.
my 10 years greencard in hand after 54 days of my arrival in America

Your wife can apply for citizenship after 3 years.
Unfortunately you must spend big bucks to get the 10 year card even though you only 'use' a year of it.
You can also, not apply for USC for 10 years if you want...
My wife just went through all that.
I also reccomend that your wife re-apply for her Filipine citizenship as well.
You never know, it could be useful...
