I just took my wife here. We went to the one in Garner. They were very knowledgeable and we were in and out in 25 min. Total cost was 150 dollars. 15 for paperwork, 25 for the transcription and 110 for the chickenpox vaccine.

  2. I just started my own business as of Jan. 4, 2010. I'm a 50% partner in a LLC. I don't have a set income and not sure what I'll make this year. What should I say is my yearly income?

I also cannot send the last 3 years tax returns as I was living in Thailand for 2007 and made zero income. But I can send 2008 and 2009 where I made over the poverty line. Would this be sufficient? I also was thinking about sending a copy of my business registration/papers to use as an asset? Any ideas?

    Thanks a lot.

  3. Same thing happened to me. I called a few times and was always told that I had to pay the fee, there was no other way. I'm about to go through the AOS process now. I plan to send a print out and send the e-mail saying the petition was approved and a letter stating that the NOA2 never came, I tried to call, etc... and that is why I'm not including it in the AOS package. Some people have done this and it worked. If it doesn't work, I'll get an RFE then I'll pay the money. If it does work I saved 340 bucks.

  4. Where is the experts people I have one question, I hope you guys can help me. Me and my fiancée we communicate on the phone I use calling card phone from CallingCardPlus.com, but it don’t show her phone number it just show only transactions how much I purchased is that good proof? what you guys think.

    Appreciate your help

I also called my fiance using a calling card. If you contact the calling card company they can provide you with a list of the phone numbers you have called using the card. I was able to request the information with my calling card and wasnt a problem. Are you using a rechargable card with the same pin each time? So just provide them with ur calling card number, and pin number, and they can email you all the activity on your account. Yes the k1 requires proof of meeting, but you should also show proof of an ongoing relationship. If you are unable to get a complete list from your calling card company I would provide it anyhow. Does hurt your process in any way so why not?

I put about 50 used calling cards in a zip lock bag in the packet that was used at the interview. The interviewer pulled the baggie out of the package and handed it back to my fiancee and said that this was not proof and she didn't need it.

What I did was once or twice a month I would call direct, that way the numbers were on my cell phone call logs.

  5. First mistake was bringing nmarriage certificate. You don't need it and it confuses the pig. Hre is the secret to the SSN as has been posted like 1 million times...

    1. Apply for SSn immediately (the day after you arrive) you do NOT need to wait two weeks.

    2. Apply in your name exactly as in your passport

    3. Your passport is one form of government issued ID, your visa is the other.

Youwill have your card within a week from when you arrive in your MAIDEN name. AFTER you get your green card, change your name at SS.

If you run into untrained clerks that give you a hard time, insist on seeing a superviosr. DO NOT LEAVE until your application has been accpeted. Call or go to the office the NXT BUSINESS DAY and get your SS number. You do not need the card anyway and the number never changes. The "system" generates the number overnight, and may have even in your case. Check with them and see if you have a number yet. If you do, the card itself does not matter, nor does the name on the card matter. I lost my card in 1973 and have never found a use for the thing since.

I totally agree with this. But I have one question. Why wait until after the greencard arrives to change your name, why not after the marriage?

  6. I also never received a NOA 2 and was wondering what to do about this as I really don't want to pay 340$ on top of the 1000+ for AOS.

afisher, has your petition been approved online? You can check at www.uscis.gov.

If your case hasn't been approved and it is outside the processing times (60 days?),

then you can start an investigation by calling the USCIS 1-800 number.

That is exactly what we did. AFTER the investigation, the petition had been

approved online, and was approved months after they said they approved it.

I'll let you know what happens when we send our request in a second time.

Sorry, I should have clarified this. Our petition was approved and she is here in the states with me now. Her I-94 expires on Nov.4th so we'll get married next month. I did call USCIS 2 weeks after I got the e-mail stating that the NOA2 was sent out. The lady said to wait 30 days and if it isn't there by then to call back. So I did. Then she said to pay 340 dollars. Doh! What if I pay the cash and this one never comes? has that happened? I figure I'll print the e-mail out and write a letter explaining that it never came. Worst case is I'll get an RFE and have to pay, best case is it'll pass. Obviously the Noa2 was issued because she got the visa. Thoughts?

  7. call the card company and request it, let them know you need it for immigration purposes and you should be ok.

I started using phone cards the first month after we met, but I stopped using them shortly after since I couldn't find one with decent quality. Regardless, I used two different phone cards, and both companies refused to give me any call records w/out a court order. Along the same lines, my cell phone company won't give me a list of incoming call numbers without a court order either.

I mostly use phone cards, but I saved all of them and am going to bring them for evidence along with a letter stating that it is cheaper, more convenient, etc. I can get a 5 dollar card and talk for 7 hrs off it. But I also call her without the cards every once in a while, that way her number shows up on my phone bill. I can't seem to get my missed calls documented (from her) but all of her SMS show up. That plus e-mail, some packages sent both ways, pictures, and the fact that I'll be there should be plenty to get this visa. That and positive thinking!

  8. :jest::jest::jest::jest::jest::wub: APPROVED APPROVED APPROVED APPROVED

  9. One last thing before I pass out. Here are the docs I created for Chada and I along the way.

    Post NOA1 Checklist

    Chat Log Template

    K1 Packet 4 Instructions

    K-1 Interview Questions

I hope they can be of use to someone else. OK I need an hour of sleep before work.

I only clicked on the last link, but it appears these are not accessible to anyone who doesn't have an account on your google apps hosted domain...

    same here

  10. 2600 dollars!!! I just bought a one way ticket for 739$ I also got a free 60 day tourist visa. I've always flown to Thailand on a one way and never been asked about it by the airline, but there have been a few times when immigration asked about my return ticket. I simply told them either that it was cheaper to buy it in Thailand or that I was flying to Singapore in 30 days. Those excuses always seemed to work.

It's quite possible that they won't even ask about my return trip in Chicago or in Bangkok, but I agree with a few other posters that it's better to be safe than sorry on this one. A tourist visa costs $35 from the embassy nearest where I live, so eating a $20 fee to get the $2600 tickets (which I will promptly get refunded once I get to Bangkok) is actually the cheapest and safest option.

It's over tomorrow, but the Thai Consulate has been giving 60 day tourist visa's for free for a while now. It's their way of stimulating the economy.

  12. Is it possible to go to the embassy and ask if they received the documents or is only emailing permitted? I know they received mine on May 23rd due to sending it registered mail but they have chosen to lie that they haven't even though I have the tracking number and know who signed for it. I don't care about whatever stupid reason they have for lying, probably to mask their incompetence, I just want them to acknowledge they have it.

They got our Packet 3 on May 12th. Last week they told us via email we had missing documents email and then POW the interview is scheduled for Thursday. Its a total ####### shoot but you could here something soon. It seems like everyone is getting interviews now.

There is no rhyme or reason in the order people are getting interviews. After all this BS about missing documents and them not sending me a NOA 2, then all of a sudden an interview is scheduled? I wonder what is up their sleeve for the interview?

  13. I think we will be flying back on July 3 or 4 bnot sure have not locked down the return tickets yet.

I think this is quite optimistic. It usually takes 3 days for them to issue the visa, which would put you on Friday, and the embassy is closed on the 3rd for Independence day and also closed on the 6th for a Thai government holiday. Just food for thought.

I arrive the 25th at 3:30 am with one stop in Kiev, Ukraine. I plan to stay 3-4 weeks.
