  1. I would ask the call center to have an officer review your document..

In the meanwhile, just to stay on the safe side, I'd try to get another marriage certificate in original language, and get it officially translated..

Soo I received my RFE notice in the mail today. They are requesting a translation of my marriage certificate even though its an international marriage certificate...Could they have possibly made a mistake? Can I call them and tell them to look harder at the certificate and see that its translated into 5 languages?? BTW what woudl be the number to call them at or should I email them? and where?

I just spoke with an agent and she said I should see an immigration attorney b/c I told her that my marriage certificate in english as well so idk how I would get it translated and she gave me a website to go to and find an immigration lawfirm in chicago...I'm still confused though...b/c the marriage certificate is in english as well its blatant really...

  3. It's not really that difficult to change your maiden name. I did everything in a couple of hours. Changed my SS, Liscence and ID. I'll change my passport after my case is completed.

I believe you are the USC, so its not that difficult for you.

I am from India and if I decide to change my name now, I will have to change my SS, Passport (which has US VISA stampped on it) and the most importantly my GC, that would take around $400 as I am being told.

Yeah I am. Aha it would be more difficult for you then. Why $400?

  4. I was reading the instructions on the USCIS webpage for I-864A and it says that "The signatures on the I-864A must be notarized by a notary public or signed before an immigration or consular officer." Have any of you notarized this form?

Yes....the I-864A has to be notarized, but not the I-864.

You only need an I-864A if you're using a joint sponsor.

By whom should the I-864A be notarized?

  5. I sent my I-130 Sept. 20...received NOA-1 on Sept 25. Question is on the cover letter I stated that I was applying for a K3 visa...I have since decided that I want to pursue the CR-1 route because it appears to be a faster route..what do I do now? Also, would this be advisable to do? Could I apply for both at the same time?
