I thought I read somewhere ... or was told by an attorney some time ago ... that after your spouse gets here on their K3 ... after a 90 day wait, they can get a work permit.
Is this right?
Thanks
EDIT - never mind ... I found my answer ...

Awesome ... I need to shake your hand and rub a little of that 'good luck' off on me

Congrats! Hope all goes well

I wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to all who contributed to this thread. I know that we'll make it through this whole screwed up system, but to share with so many others going through the same exact thing, it helps to know that I'm not alone. We spent 3 hours on Skype today ... and even though it can't replace being together, that program is truly a godsend
Lindsay - when you were talking about your husband, you were describing me to a 'T'. Ksenia seems to do such an amazing job of seeing our future and has no worries about being back together. She does miss me very much, but thankfully her family is close to give her support. I however have that same 'live in the now' mentality that husband has. I guess this whole process will be a 'learning' experience as well.
Once again ... a big thanks to everyone ... I really appreciate it! My hope and wishes are that you all are reunited with your love as soon as possible.

I know the hurt I feel is intensified because my wife just went back to Ukraine and the wound is still fresh from losing her by my side until this process is finished. Was feeling kind of ok today, then just going to the local grocery store (where we used to shop) this avalanche of pain and emotions just crushed me.
Then I think of the others here at VJ, who have been waiting for months and months ... and my heart sincerely goes out to you. To go through this kind of pain for so long has to effect you emotionally, physically and mentally.
I know that some of the pain might ease up a little as time goes by and 'regular' life, going to work, etc. goes on ...
But I was just wondering what advice or tips can some VJ members offer who had a long wait or are still going through the process ... How did/do you cope without being with your most precious one?

My wife has a 5 year old girl from a previous marriage. When filling out the I-130, question #17 asks for info on your alien relative. Should I list her as my 'daughter' or use the term 'step-daughter' ... or does it matter?
Thanks

If going K-3, then you could file I-130 now or later when adjusting status from K-4.
Wouldn't that put us off to a later date?
I don't mean to sound stupid ... thanks for your patience ... so, if I understand correctly, I file an I-130 for mom ... when I get my NOA1 ... I file the I-129F (or do I file two, 1 for mom and 1 for stepdaughter) ... Then when daughter comes over on K4, THEN adjust her status with an I-130?
Adding a child into the mix makes it more confusing since the guides I've found don't really give a clear direction when a child is involved.
Many, many thanks

Saw something in another thread about needing to file an I-130 for my wife's daughter (5) too ... is that right?
If so, is there a different form, do I have to include paperwork like previous divorces, etc. even if it is for a child?
I take it you send both applications in together ... correct?
Thanks for your help ... I really respect those that have traveled this path before me ...
Eventually, either for a visa or to adjust status if the child arrives on K-4
Thanks for the reply ... but not following ...
Do I need a I-130 for my stepdaughter?
If so, do I have to submit all the paperwork that I am submitting for mom?
Thanks

... does that kill the I-130 too? Or is there still a chance?
Haven't filed yet (next week) but looking ahead at any and all possible outcomes ... thanks!
Depends on why the K-3 was not approved.... or do you mean the petition and not the visa?
I'm filing the I-130 next week ...

We are hoping to file the I-130 before she leaves (which we have been told we can do).
Question is ... on the I-130 (Question #14) it wants her departure record (3 numbers - a dash - then 8 more numbers). How do we fill that in if she hasn't 'departed' yet? There are no numbers written on the form from her arrival ...
Many Thanks

Just added my wife to my accounts with Wells Fargo ... all they needed was her passport and a copy of our marriage license (notified document).

Filling out the I-130 ... Question # 14 asks if your relative is living in the US, provide the I-94 information.
I don't mean to sound stupid, but what if she is leaving in a couple of weeks ... do we still supply the I-94 info?
Don't know if it makes a difference, but she did overstay ... but is returning under the 180 days ...
Thank you

Sending the I-130 on Monday with the $355.00 ... suggestions on best way to send payment?
Also, the I-130 form says send it to a Chicago address ... but I was understood that there were only 2 processing centers now ... California & Vermont. I guess Chicago re-directs the petition to the right center?
Thanks for your input ...

In filing the I-130 and then K3 (if going that route) what kind of background checks, if any, to the do on the petitioner?
-
Thanks guys ... sounds like you file the I-130 ... then the K3 ... then pretty much hope the I-130 gets processed along the same time line as the K3 ... it looks like a better way to enter the country. Can you actually trace the progress of the I-130 and compare it to the K3 ?

Does anyone have advice/experience with either?
Without all the long details, my wife has to return to Ukraine and I have to file paperwork for her to return. I was told to file an I-130 and then a I-129F ... but then some attorney said there is this other option of filing an I-130 and then getting an immigrant visa.
Help please .... and thank you from a new member ...
How do you get an actual person on the phone ?
in K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures

Hello everyone,
I have called the USCIS phone line and always get stuck in a loop ... None of the options are what I am looking for.
I have a specific question I need to ask about the K3 I am going to be filing hopefully next week (if the NOA1 from the I-130 arrivals per normal time). It is of a personal nature and am reluctant to post it here.
If anyone can help me hook up with a 'real' person, it would be greatly appreciated
Thank you,
Steve
