  1. Joanna -- You and Adrian are all Roy has been talking about since last night. He thinks the same thing....just calm down and everything "soon come!"

The Embassy is the Embassy.....don't ever expect them to do what you think they should do. We are all here for you and none of us are going anywhere....you just go ahead and vent whenever you feel the need!!

    Thanks Mindy and Roy :D

I guess I was just tired and having a bad day yesterday, I am better today. I am going to try and call the embassy today and see if they have put it in the mail.

OK ENOUGH ABOUT ME WERE ARE YOU GUYS PICTURES...MINDY AND ROY!!!!!!:whistle::ranting::lol:

sjb1221 - Welcome back, did you have a great trip?

Well it looks like I will be going back to the Island for a couple weeks to get the call center in New Kingston back up. Now to call the embassy and try to get an interview for my wife while I'm already in JA. Should be a fun one, if I can even get through.

  2. I had hubby email me the DS-3032 Choice of Agent, signed it and mailed it off in a package I was already sending to him via Fedex so he could mail from the US. If you hava a look HERE there is an example of emailing the NVC in place of sending the DS-3032. It seems to be working for members doing it this way. NVC usually confirms within a couple of days.

NVC will accept an e-mail from the beneficiary in place of a DS-3032. Quite convinient.

  3. eric,

since you have been through this before, I was wondering if you can answer a few questions for me about your experience. my case was completed February 23, 2006 and shipped to JA. I was wondering if you may have any idea when the interview will be set. how long after your case was completed did you receive an interview date? also can we request an earlier interview if needed. what type of questions did the CO ask your wife? I notice you decided to go to the interview with her this time around, why? Do you think it is better for the husband/wife to be at the interview?

My previous time, was with the K3, at that time the interview was scheduled online. Things are quite different now. Though I see you know have a date, thats great. There is no particular reason I plan to be at the interview this time. I just think it may help.

Hopefully my wife will get one around the same time. If so I may luck out and get my trip paid for. It looks like my company is going to open their Kingston office back up in 3 weeks, if this turns out as it appears I'll be in Kingston at the end of March for work.

We never really discussed the fist interview, due the the denial for ganga the rest of the interview seemed unimportant at the time.

Eric, May I ask what company you work for?

TeleServices Direct, the Jamaican branch is TSD Jamaica LTD

  5. HI,

I am going for the K3, but doesn't it seems like everyone is doing a K1. I have not even filed as of yet. I am waiting on the return of the G325A and pics.

Good luck on your journey. (L)

    Hi,

It may seem as if EVERYONE IS DOING k1. But you are not alone. I just sent in the I864 and Ds230 (I hope everything goes well) so if you have any questions I will try my best to help answer them. This site is really helpful. You will find a lot of good information on it.

    later,

    Simone

It took a little over 2 weeks to receive the notice from the NVC that they have completed processing the IR-1 case and have sent it to Kingston after both the I864 and the DS230 were sent in. In my wifes case this happened on the 23rd of last month. The K3 process went smothly back in 2003 until the interview/physical. She tested positive for Ganga. Hoping for an April interview. I plan to attend this time.

  6. SJB~ Fortunatly the racism thing hasn't come up to much...and the rules and manners  Working on that

I think one of the big issues is the fact that we are now on my "turf" and not on his.

my husband is exactly like that. welcome to the nature of jamaican men. over all they are very loving but pride will kill them.

    Not just the men... :)

you are right. god knows i tell my family all the time that pride will kill us all.

Temper too, I always thought it was a family thing until I started spending more time on the island. One of my biggest fears is when my wife gets here someone will make a pass at her and she'll knock them out...

It's going to be a big adjustment for her. I hope she can handle the adjustment, I couldn't adjust to living in JA.

  7. SJB~ Fortunatly the racism thing hasn't come up to much...and the rules and manners  Working on that

I think one of the big issues is the fact that we are now on my "turf" and not on his. It was all good and dandy in JA where he knew how to shop, get transportation, handle all sorts of various issues as they would arise...he got to show off his stuff so to speak. I wasn't completely helpless but to a certain extent (especially on the first few trips) I didn't no ####### and I was very naïve. I was the one that everyone (Andre included) joked about because I did something out the norm, or the way I said a word in patois, the outfit I chose to wear, the way I did my hair...granted it was all in fun and friendly laughter...not really laughing at me but it was towards ME. They were joking about my naïve self and the way us "white girls" acted.

That’s the key. Now that Andre is the one that the joking is towards it is not ok to him...all of sudden its not ok to laugh anymore because it's about him. He is now the one that people joke about...the way he says slang in English or the way he perceives certain things, nothing that is serious or a real problem...again its amongst family and friends (even the friends he has made on his own) and its all out of love but he takes it so personally...especially coming from me. Like he thinks I am out to sabotage him or make him look stupid in front of people. What he doesn't realize is that it is exactly what happened to me when I first got to JA. It was me learning to fit in and adapt...joking was part of the learning process...and I agree at times what I did was funny and I even laughed at myself. If I were to have taken things so seriously I never would have made it through my first trip. I have talked to him about it many times and have been as sensitive as humanly possible...but there comes a time where he is being ULTRA overly sensitive and he isn't even fun to be around. Honestly this is the biggest struggle. This has caused many fights and many shed tears.

Anyone else experience this kind of thing?

my husband is exactly like that. welcome to the nature of jamaican men. over all they are very loving but pride will kill them.

    Not just the men... :)

  8. He wants the dang Razr cell phone soooooo bad and we got into our 1st big argument the other day about it....finally I told him fine then go get it and waste our money that we have been saving...he does not realize that in the US you have to buy a cell phone from the company that you have service with or the phone will not work...

Razr are certainly a Jamaican desire, a status symbol thing. My wife wants a Pink one (the most expensive). I told her I'd get her one, but will not have her get one in JA. They are over 30,000J there. On Ebay you can get an unlocked one for about $250US, which can work with any SIM Card. Funny thing is, I found a better phone (More features) Motorola MPX-220, which is an MP3 player, and can play video's uploaded from your PC. She still wants the Razr.

She'll get it when I go down for the interview.

  9. eric, i wish you luck on your case. did your wife receive an interview date yet?

Not yet, I just received notification of the case going to Kingston today dated the 23rd. If I recall correctly they usually schedule the interviews at the beginning of the month for the following month. If this policy is still in effect we should here something soon for a date in April.
