Hi Friends!

I finally got a job, so I'm headed to Senegal on June 24 and Drame and I want to get married as soon as possible! I was looking at the embassy's website, and they say that we both need a birth certificate that says "issued in anticipation of marriage." The NY page for the board of vital statistics says absolutely nothing about birth certificates with that on it, so I'm at a loss. Will my original birth certificate be ok?

Also, I'm supposed to register the marriage, but it doesn't give any information for how to do so. And I don't know what "publication of the banns" is, but apparently I need to do that too.

Any help you guys can give would be great! And if I posted this in the wrong place, please let me know!

Where are you in the process? I'm about to graduate from college, so I'm trying to find a job for next year-- then I can go over to see Drame again and hopefully get married this summer!

CAn anyone give me some names of "reasonably" priced hotels in Dakar PLEASE! Less than $60 a night would be wonderful.

When I stay in Dakar, I use Hotel Oceanic-- its not too expensive, and the more nights you stay, the less the rate. http://www.hoteloceanicdakar.com/

It's right in center city, and they have breakfast downstairs included in the rate!
