  1. i had no idea what a ESTA form is till you mentioned it and then i googled for it...ii didnt do anything like filling for a ESTA...maybe the thing is that romania is not on that list with people who have to fill the ESTA form...

here is what i found out about ESTA:

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. In order to use the VWP as of January 12, you will need to get ESTA travel authorization. If you are traveling to the U.S. for purposes other than tourism or business, such as to work or study in the U.S., you need a visa and you are not eligible to use the VWP or ESTA.

i dont know if that applies to you too, since you did get a visa... and then there is this:

Which countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program?

Citizens or nationals of the following countries are currently eligible to travel to the United States under the VWP:

    Andorra Iceland Norway

    Australia Ireland Portugal

    Austria Italy San Marino

    Belgium Japan Singapore

    Brunei Liechtenstein Slovenia

    Denmark Luxembourg Spain

    Finland Monaco Sweden

    France the Netherlands Switzerland

    Germany New Zealand United Kingdom

On Nov. 17, 2008, the United States expanded the VWP to include the following countries:

    Czech Republic Latvia

    Estonia Lithuania

    Hungary Slovakia

    Republic of Korea

As of December 30, 2008, the United States expanded the VWP to include nationals of Malta.

Eligible citizens or nationals from these new VWP countries may now travel to the United States under the VWP provided they have an e-passport and an approved authorization via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

the idea is that i didnt need any ESTA form...

Natan congrats!!! You are finally there!!!

One question though: we do not need to fill out the ESTA thing online since we have a visa, right? And all other forms are given to you on the plane?

I am so anxious to fly. I can't wait. The closer we get, the more nervous Dan and me get. He is calling every night asking when I will be there.

Kiwie, don't worry. I felt like a wreck too just before the interview because I always thought something was missing. But the good thing is: even if something is missing you won't have to go again to Frankfurt. You can just send it in. Follow the guides and you will be totally fine.

I wrote Frankfurt an email asking whether they got my medical report (i just wanted to make sure I am not waiting 3 weeks and they actually never got it). They said yes they got it Fri 13th and that my visa is processed and will go out today most likely. All you need is to write them an email to FrankfurtIV@state.gov (thats the immigrant visa section). Put your case number and both of your names in the subject and you will get a reply soon. They wrote me back within 3 hours. :)

  2. hey guys...

i just got here in US... first of all congrats panterchen...you made it...:) stepha, it took me almost 2 days to get here from Craiova, my city, cos first i went by car like 10 hours to Oradea, a city still in Romania, but close to the border with Hungary, then i stayed there for like 6 hours at my uncle, got back on my feet, and then traveled for like 5 hours (cos it was ice on the road) to budapest airport, then i waited for like 4 hours for my plane. Then i got to JFK, and then to LAX... Oane31, on the plane i was given 2 forms (a blue one or a green one as i saw that others had, and a I-94 form, that i had to fill them)...and by the way, on the plane the stewardess gave me a blue one at the start and then i called her cos i had one question to ask her and when i told her that im a k1 visa holder she gave me the I-94 form too. Fill the entire I-94 form, arrival and departure, altough you will not come back to Romania any time soon, that departure part will be needed later when you go on with the getting aos and all that stuff...by the way i told the first lady there to which i gave my passport and the yellow folder that i was told to ask for EAD but she didnt seem to know what that is, but lucky me that she was suppossed to pass all the k1 visa holders to another guy in a private room...She told me to follow her and she led me to this room, where i seat for like 20 minutes and then that guy just called my name, and handled me my passport telling me that i got EAD too, without me even having the chance to ask for it yet (to this guy), and then i asked him about my documents from the yellow folder and he told me that they are going to keep that and forward it i don know where...and then just to be sure i didnt forget anything i asked him that if that's all,,,he smiled at me and said YES SIR:)...he was a cute old man...the lady before him wasnt that social with the people before me but when my came turn i started smiling and chat with her and she was cute...i think i started the chat with something like: "I hope it's you the one i have to handle this yellow folfer to and not someone else:) "... anyway, i was blessed i guess, cos i would totaly give a 8 grade out of 10 to the level of harassment... on the other hand the people from budapest are very unfriendly and bored and yeah... as long as you smile you have good chances of the people being friendly with you in US even though for them you are just another immigrant...

in jfk i kinda missed my bag and looked for it 30 minutes and then i asked a guy who showed me all the bags from my flight that didnt find their owner and there it was...i was very late to pick up my bag because of all this k1 visa check and 2 guys checking on me...so i had to run to catch my NY-LA flight...still i managed to get it and even got on board since i was flying with a stand-by plane ticket...this time i didnt give my second bag to check-in since it was only 15kg and i was allowed to take it with me on the plane...beside this, i was allowed also to take my back pack with me on the plane where i had my laptop and a bunch of documents and some other stuff... for the one wondering how much weight are you allowed to take with you here is what i know Delta allows: a maximum of 18 kg bag and a personal item like a purse or a back bag... also you can check in no more than 2 bags of a maximum weight of 23 kg per bag... but i dont think you will need like that much, cos as my babe said "you can find better looking and cheaper clothes here"... so ;)

hmm let's see, is there anything else that you should know ??? hmm... well, if there is any other question that you might have just write it here or just send me an email to my visajourney account...

    im praying for you guys...

  3. thanks panterchen and oana31 for your reply... im asking this because when i went to the embassy they asked me to turn on the laptop and even type in the password...they said they have to check if it's a real laptop and not just a simple laptop box...anywhoo...panterchen, i dont know how you look like, and im sure you dont look like a terrorist...when i look in the mirror i dont see a terrorist eighter, but still i have a goat tee so maybe that will not help me :)... and shaving my goat tee for them it doesnt worth...

well guys, i kinda have to go now..my family is driving me to a city closer to the border with Hungary and then ill take a bus to budhapest, get on a plane there toward JFK and then to LAX...that's my plan...with God's help ill get to see my babe in 2 days after a long 7 months no see...and other 8 months before that... that much of an engagement period... i told her ill make it up to her and have like a saint valentine's day like every day...i dont need a special day to tell her how much i love her...

ok...really have to go now... talk to you soon...

  4. hey cdneh... i cant seem to find a good thread about what's to be done now after i got the visa and before i go to states and after,,,i will be leaving in 5 days and i gathered some documents that i found out that i need...i have a new birth certificate written in romanian, french and english...and i have a proof that i had no car accident in last 12 months so i can drive my fiancee's car... you know stuff like these...

We finally have a real interview date! April 8th at 10:30.

The embassy lady actually called me today on my cellphone to, basically, tell me that she had rescheduled our interview and... her vacation days... to make it all work. Or I assume so, considering our first today's conversation..

    Congratulations

  5. hey panterchen... i cant seem to find a good thread about what's to be done now after i got the visa and before i go to states,,,i will be leaving in 5 days and i gathered some documents that i found out that i need...i have a new birth certificate written in romanian, french and english...and i have a proof that i had no car accident in last 12 months so i can drive my fiancee's car... you know stuff like these...

Stepha, did I understand this right? Where will you get married? Not in the States???
  6. it sounds like the embassy there has a lot of work to do, and the doctors too... cos when i did my medical 2 weeks ago they told me to come back for the results like in 4 hours, and the package was all done and stuff. and then at the embassy after my interview they told me to wait 15 minutes so they can glue the visa on my passport... hmm, oana31 that's good news for you... i pray and hope you will come here soon and let us know that you got out of uscis...

well guys, looks like there are not so many people on this thread anymore but ill keep on checking in here until u all guys that i kept in touvh with get ur visa: kiwie, stepha, panterchen. evian and you oana31... who knows, maybe we'll meet one day... (actually i know we;ll meet one day if we keep the faith, and guess what: the good news about it is that we dont need a visa to get to heaven ;) )

  8. hey guys...

good news, good news: I GOT THE VISA... yeap, yesterday... Beside the fact that they kept me waiting for like almost 4 hours there and beside the fact that i was the 3rd one in there from over 30 but i got out of the embassy the last one, everything went fine...so dont worry about it, since i know your relationships are real. Just have all your documents with you and that will do it...

PS: dont just print 5-10 pictures as they say there, print more than that and put it in an album if you can...

  9. Hey guys...

i justed wanted to tell you that my package arrived to the embassy and i already scheduled my interview: it will be on february 11th...so pls, dont forget to mention us when you pray...oana31, once you get out of nvc it will take the package 5 days to get to romania and if you go to the embassy and pick it up yourself you can schedule your interview right away in like 7-8 days... but you;ll have to have 230 first part already filled from back home,, the same with 2 copies of 156 and 4 photos... when the lady there saw all the documents that i came with just to schedule my interview she even told me that i would have had the medical done too, then i could have simply have the interview that day... but i think she just joked about it, still she was nice (the lady at window nr 4),, cos there was also another lady at window nr 5 which was like so in a crapy mood and like not nice at all... i read over the forums that we should avoid that window as much as possible ...anyway, guys im praying for you, and just know that you are almost there...soon you;ll be in the arms of the one you love...

    blessings..

    Nate

  10. Nice Stepha..nice words...you are right..altough right now we look like we are helpless in front of USCIS, NVC or the embassy, this will end soon...As im writing you im listening to Hillsong and there is this song "Forever" and one verse that keeps on repeating is "i will worship you my Lord"...it's kinda hard sometimes to worship and thank God when things like these happen but His plan is so much better than ours..

every morning i talk with my fiancee but the last 2 days she's been feeling very sick and tired and worn out, and like that was not enough her boss called her to come to work on Saturday too and she worked for almost 10 hours in a row, and tomorrow her boss told her to come again to work,,,and she planned for this weekend to work all day long to do the wedding invitations but i guess they'll have to wait...it's sad like how some people treat other people, and my hands are so tied and i cant do anything about it...I know how you feel Evian, like not being there for the person you love...but i choose to trust God He will take care of my babe, and your fiance...

    Oana, fii barbata...Stepha be strong...panterchen, what's new ?

Natan, Panterchen,Oana, Stepha...your words make me feel so warm, thank you guys. We called USCIS this morning, but the one answering the phone dosn't know too much about the reason why we got stuck. My fiance will have an operation in these days, he needs me thereto take care of him, we asked for expediating, but not sure whether it will work or not.

Oana, the touches means they're working on your case, I'm sure you'll get the NOA2 soon.

Stepha, hang in there, for our case, I heard from Chinese visa forum, if we get so much investigation andreviewing before P2, then the other steps, like NVC checking, consulate checking, it will just take very short time.

    Evian,

I'm sorry to hear about your fiance's operation, I hope there is nothing too serious and he'll be fine. It's sad we can't be next to our love ones at least in the difficult moments but spiritually you'll be there and he knows it. It's not the same but we can comfort ourselves this way, otherwise we get mad.

I hope you're right about the shortage of the rest of the journey , after we get out of these long wait for NOA2.

  11. today my embassy received my package (it took them 6 days to get it...weird...) anyway, monday ill go to the embassy and pick it up myself and do the medical too in the same day and scheduale my interview...

evian, so sad to hear that...it's so weird, hmm... evian, did u set your wedding date yet ? pray first and then ask your fiance to start giving phone calls: his senator, his congressman, to ask them to talk with a uscis supervisor...ill pray that his senator and cogressman will have an open heart ready to help you..

    keep you in my prayers...

  12. thanks cdneh... i was about to write you and thank you for the number but then i was like ill call the embassy first...and thye told me that it just got there today...so ill go on monday to pick it up myself (i dont trust the post office,,,i have some bad experiences ) and to do my medical...

Thanks again cdneh, and may God be with you at the interview...

    blessings from

    Nate

This one is going to Romania..you can track by that number. It won't be identified as yours per se...but I think that's at least where you are waiting for one to go to?

  13. come on oana, give us a good piece of news...praying for you cos i can imagine how you must feel...

aa and one more thing : does anybody know how can i track down a dhl package since i only know that destination? i tried that track by reference but it doesnt work...

any news? mine was forwarded on 23rd and still no news... my babe sent me some documents a while ago through dhl and i got them in like 3 days...

    Hey....

I just wanted to check in to see who is still here!!!!!

Our file has been forwarded to the embassy on the 22nd! I really hope that everything is going to go a little quicker now.

    How are you guys doing????

    Natan? Oana????Panterchen?

  14. Hey everyone...

I also got out of NVC last week and right now i just pray i will get my interview set as fast as possible...

PS: i guess im the only guy left on this thread, but it was really enlightening reading about how you girls go to gym, take massages or go running...i consider it cute and it just made me smile (like in a good way), it's a selfless centered thought when you think like that so you can "shock" your fiances,,,good job girls, my respect

  15. hey everyone...

what's new about your cases? with God's help i got out from NVC on friday...that was the last day that me and my fiancee set for getting out from NVC or else we would have delayed the wedding...now, we still have hope...hope they will not delay us anymore at the embassy...hope this thread will be deleted soon since there will be no 2008 June filer without visa anymore...

    praying for you...blessings...

    Nate

  16. Thanks guys...

Thank you for your prayers and hope you will let us know soon that you got out from AP...

I read about some problems about the package getting to the local embassy, hope i wont have these kind of problems since i had like 2 RFEs and one NVC delay so far...and from a 3-4 months process i got to a 8 months long process...

    Keep the faith...
