  1. Don't need to take it. I didn't take mine, they never asked nor when they sent me a list of what to bring was it on that list. Didn't want to be walking around with that big thing.

  2. and the only real downside to working in Canada while living in the U.S. is that there is a higher likelihood that you'll have to pay taxes in both countries.

I do believe that there is a tax treaty preventing the paying of taxes on both sides of the border. I think they would only pay tax to the U.S. as that is where they would be living. Must be someone on this board that would know for sure.

  3. As for banking..I thought I had read somewhere on here that people use Paypal to move money from their Canadian accounts to their U.S. accounts.

There are alot of smart people on this site and maybe one of them remembers this also and can give you more details.

Good Luck with your move and all the best to you in 2010 !!

  4. I like strippers and yes I would go see them and have. Some strippers are working their way through school and some are, well just working....

Would I go lots... no way but once a year with a buddy and have a beer yes.

Would I want a stripper to do a lap dance or dance at my table..no way..my face would way too red..

    Anyways that's my dollar in the G-string responce..for what it's worth........have a nice day...

  5. Truckerbob, are you saying that you went to activate it 6 months after issue? Did you go 12 hours after the 6 months were up?

I went 6 months after it was issued to me however I arrived at U.S. Immigration to activate it and I was 12 hours late..it was the day after..June 16th had to activate but I arrived the morning of June 17th.

  6. I was talking to my lawyer about doing the exact same thing and also U.S. Immigration they both told me that when I activate I am moving to the U.S. Should I continue to work/live in Canada to make sure I put that on my U.S. tax return but my visa could be in jeopardy as I did not take up residence.

The whole thing is mute anyways as I showed up 12 hours after my expiry date...so here I am in Canada with "Cancelled Without Predudice" stamped on my visa...in case anyone wonders what they stamp on an expired, unused visa. Needless to say I had some explaining to do to my loved ones....

  7. First remember to relax and take some change if you want a coffee or something as there are vending machines up there on the 19th floor. Many say this is the easy part and you will find everyone friendly. Don't forget to take a moment and enjoy the view of Montreal. The best of luck to you!

  8. Relax...there is alot of great people here that will help you through this.

I do know the envelop is large and that because they send all your papers and passport back to you after the interview so you just put your address on the TO: portion and they will put their address on the FROM part. Just remember to write down the tracking number, so you can track it on the Canada Post website.

  9. I went to the RCMP the computer was down..went back the next day and had it in 20 minutes...no charge because the computer was down and they said they were sorry for the problem..no charge to make up for it!!

  10. Being a man and supervisor of 23 women and 15 men I have to say you women are the hardest to handle and other supervisors that do not have any women often ask me how I handle the day to day drama that is created in my department. Not long ago there was a leak in the ladies washroom and a couple of ladies stopped by my office to let me know..I said I will call maintenance. Two days later the leak still was not fixed as the maintenance guys are a busy bunch but when I came in the next morning I had 23 seperate voice mails complaining about the leak. Sometimes I will get 5 women in my office to bitc...er I mean to complain about some other poor girl then each of these five ladies will return indivdually to complain about the other four that were just with her. This stuff goes on day after day....so ladies either deal with the problem and put it behind you or just get over it, but more then anything...get back to work!! Thanks I feel so much better now....

Sprailenes..I would be documenting those comments and have meeting minutes because those kind of comments and the way she treats you is total uncalled for...

  11. MORE QUESTIONS FOR THE BIG DAY!

    1. Do I fill in the mailing label for the Xpresspost envelope before I submit it? At least the TO: area? Or will they do it for me? Or give me a chance to fill it out? What do I write for FROM:?

I waited until I was at the Consulate to fill it out. But I was dumb and forgot to write down the tracking number. Make sure you keep a copy of that so you can check when your visa is in the mail. You can probably just put your information on the To: part, but I'd wait for them to write in the From: part since they may have a particular mailing address that they use.

Cat is right..don't fill out the FROM part, only the TO part. I filled out both and took the copy so I would have the tracking number...that did not go over well and they let me know it. They ended up covering up the FROM part with white-out and putting in another address..opps

    Good luck!!

  12. I went last fall to Toronto and all they did was a very quick check under the hood to make sure I was really a male.

Except for checking around your neck and pressing on your belly area that is about all the touching there was.

    Good Luck
