  1. hello everyone... i have the same case as nina except that my application was received early this month.

my AOS application was received on March 8.

the NOA notice was sent on March 13, and I received the letters on March 19.

until now, I am still waiting for my Biometrics appointment :'( I am worried that the letter might come in late and i might miss the schedule... any advice?

most of the people i know here have been scheduled to have the biometrics this week, and they submitted their application a week after I did :(

  3. What are the medical examination requirement for K1 during the AOS process? I already had a medical examination before I got my K1 visa from the Philippines. Do I need to go through another one for the AOS process?

Do I still have to prepare the I-693 form? Or will this be provided to me already - I am not sure if this is included in the Visa packet or not. I've checked from the USCIS website and it was stated that this is no longer needed for applicants with fiance visa.

Lastly, I had a previous pulmonary infection (minimal PTB) but passed all my sputum culture test. What should I expect when I arrive in the US? Do I still need to go through the same series of test before we can file for my AOS?

Thank you and I really appreciate all your help!

    Regards,

    LMY

  4. Hello,

I would just like to ask what do we exactly need to submit for the AOS application. I have gone through the list over the net but would like to check to ensure that we don't miss anything.

    REQUIREMENTS------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ** SPONSOR ----------------

    - Payment

    - Cover Letter

    - I-864 - Sponsor

    - I-864A - CoSponsor

    ** BENEFICIARY ------------

    - G-325A

    - I-485

    - I-693

    - passport photos (2pcs)

    - I-765

    - I-131 (optional)

    - marriage certificate

    - birth certificate

    - copy of K1 Notice of Approval (NOA2)

    - copy ofK1 Visa

    - Passport and I-94

    QUESTIONS------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. do we still need to submit a G-325A from the sponsor? or just the beneficiary?

    2. aside from the marriage certificate, do we also need so submit other evidences like pictures/cards/etc?

    3. do we still need to submit any personal document from the sponsor? like passport, certificate of naturalization, etc.?

    4. for the affidavit of support, do we still need to submit any documents like the income tax and bank statements?

    5. do we still need so submit letter of intent? if yes, can we just write one letter from both of us? or should we create separate letters?

And for the AOS interview, does the sponsor (husband/wife) need to be there as well? Or just the beneficiary?

Thank you so much and I really appreciate your help.

  5. as per Haole >> "I've seen where people were approved not meeting the income requirements when the beneficiary was a potential productive person."

i agree with this. i just had my interview today. my fiance is a full time student, no job since August 2007. I brought my co-sponsors documents but they did not accept it at all, not even the prescreener.... HOWEVER, the interview was totally based on me. the consul said, "so, your boyfriend is a student... and he is not working"... and then .. tell me about your job... and from there, i told her everything about my job...

we also talked about why co-sponsors are not allowed and she told me that some prescreener will accept co-sponsor documents but they (consuls) will never consider it, but instead, will ask questions to prove that the beneficiaries will not become a public charge, and are potential productive person in the U.S.

and yes.. same exact words as Haole :) hehehehe....

  6. kanedarwin - we're in the same situation, except that my fiance is still on his second year. i had my interview today and as expected, both prescreener and consul did not accept my co-sponsors documents. i insisted but they firmly said they will not consider it.

maybe some other prescreeners will accept it hoping that the consul will consider the documents during the interview, but in my case, they did not. i was worried so i told the consul about my situation but here's what she told me. it is true that they don't consider co-sponsors for K1 because someone should not petition another person if he/she does not have the money to support the beneficiary. she said that some may accept but they dont use it as a basis, and she also told me that it is also her responsibility to assess that the beneficiary will not become a public charge.. and that in my case, she did not think that i will be a burden to their country. the entire interview was focused on me and my work background which really made the consul assured that i will do fine.

make sure to find a way to shift all questions on you and your credentials. that worked for me. i guess others said they were approved even with the co-sponsors, but in truth, it was not because of their co-sponsor, it was because they were found to be potentially productive people once they arrive in the U.S. > at least this is what the consul told me :)

lastly.. it will be helpful for beneficiaries to have a job during the interview... its one of the biggest thing that they consider if the sponsor does not make enough. in addition, i dont believe that they're strict with the poverty line, they actually just want to make sure that the sponsor has a 'stable' job, regardless if that job started a long time ago or just a few weeks before your interview.

  7. Based on that chat log .. the 'joint financial sponsor' was not referring to K1/K3 visas. Note that the form mentioned was for other immigrant visas, not K1/K3. So this does not say that co-sponsors are allowed for K1.

In addition, if anyone would call USEM, they will tell you that they do not accept co-sponsor for K1. But then again, some interviews w/ co-sponsor went fine. I am about to go through the process myself, with my fiance not earning anything for a year now since he went back to school full time, living and paying all his expenses through a student loan. I do not want him to stop and find a job since he really need to focus to finish his doctors degree.

A lot of K1 beneficiaries, including myself have had a rough time after reading posts here regarding the denials, but in the end, it was a good thing coz most of us were made aware of what else we need to prepare.

Just the thought of it pulls me down each day... but now, since my interview is just a couple of days away, I have conditioned myself to believe that the decision is always at the basis if we, as beneficiaries will become a public charge once we arrive in the US. I just hope that the consul will consider my credentials since I have worked in the US before .. and even had to pay tax as well :)

... but as always, these type of interviews are subjective, and i have to add that their judgement may be impacted by their mood :) so I guess I need to combine prayers will luck on that day! I wish I can buy 'luck' somewhere :) hehehe...

  8. dear :) there have been several posts since yesterday regarding k1 co-sponsorship. and as per US embassy in Manila, they do not allow co-sponsors for K1. you may also contact USEM if you need more information.

however... there are cases that this is allowed but this will depend on your case. what are the basis? right now, only consuls know :)

you may also refer to similar posts down below this one.

  9. hi jodette - so talagang hindi nila tinaggap ang co-sponsor documents? kelan ung interview mo? baka hindi nila tinanggap ang co sponsor coz you mentioned that your fiancee just got a job and of course, this is to verify kung totoo nga talaga yung sinabi mo :)

baka pwede ka pa magkwento regarding your experience, it would greatly help us. my fiancee will not finish until 2 years from now pa, so i guess im in a very sad situation kaya help please :(

    thank you so much!

  10. jamesNrei - did the consul ask for the additional documents? did you mention it or did you just hand-in the co-sponsors documents along with your fiance's financial docs?

kindly let us know of your interview process.

    Thanks.

  11. to yankee -

someone just posted here, i think its papabear that she was refused a visa and the consul handed her passport back since co-sponsorship is not allowed. i guess this has caused a lot of us to worry.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=159962

maybe they have tightened their financial requirements now with the current economic status of the US? all these are just assumptions but of course.. better na na ready di ba?

for other's who may have some information here in Manila, please do share

  12. hello :crying:

i opened a similar post just a couple of minutes ago

i have also informed our lawyer about this. when is your interview? im just waiting for my medical result and if everything goes well, then i'll have my interview any day after the 19th of November.

i have asked around here and they said USEM will accept co-sponsorship but others say this is not accepted. maybe we just need to know how we should mention this during the interview. my fiancee is currently studying but he used to work already. we also have a co-sponsor and everything is ready, i just got really worried since i did not know that this is the policy in the USEM.

we had trouble sleeping last night just thinking about it :( so it would be helpful if anyone could share their experience on this.

  13. hello...

I have recently read a couple of posts here that most of the K1 applicants in Manila have been refused with a visa since co-sponsors are not allowed. has anyone gone through the same process?

my boyfriend has been working for a couple of years but decided to go back to school to earn his pharmD degree. our main reason was for him to earn more once we start having kids. he still has 2 more years in school and is currently supporting himself through a student loan. i will have my interview soon and i am worried. we have a co-sponsor and we have all the required documents.

Anyone from Manila who can advise me on this? if anyone can share their interview process and how they presented their co-sponsor's documents, please do. i have heard that they will not accept co-sponsor's documents in the pre-screening .. im just curious when the consul would ask for it, or if they even accept it at some point.... or should i mention it right before i hand in all my documents?

    thank you so much.

  14. hello papabear

how exactly did your interview go? what were the consuls questions? we would like to know and understand what really happened, then we will be able to give a better advice.

i have heard that they dont really accept co-sponsors for K1 for years now but they still do allow and approve some cases so I guess you may still be able to go back and check, but before that, let us know what really happened coz you may have just missed to answer something or maybe provide a supporting document or information to convince the consul to give you a visa.

  15. Done with my second day, and yes, the guard asked me to proceed to the TB lab floor and the receptionist handed me a note of my sputum test. So I guess, if you were directed to the results releasing area, mukhang OK ang result ng test niyo :)

I didnt even get to speak with any doctor, but luckily, the receptionist was kind enough to explain the result and the process. I was informed that they actually have multiple radiologist and pulmonologist who assess the results. She showed me three assessment from three doctors and all three ruled out a scar. Anyway, delayed din ang sputum collection since marami raw ang may x-ray problem so it looks like I may have to count 10 to 12 weeks before I get the result.

I just thought I'd write what happened to guide the rest who may just go through their medical and have the same case :)

  16. When you get there, the guard will ask for the following

    1. passport

    2. letter from USEM with case number

    3. a copy of the email with your appointment details

he will give you a guide that shows the flow of the medical process, then a set of form that you need to fill up. should only take awhile basta make sure you have the following info in hand - the rest should be all about you so madali lang

    1. fiance/e - name, complete address, contact #

once you're done with the paper, you need to have it verified by the receptionist and they will get your photo and encode your info in their computer system... the rest should be easy to follow, medyo malamig sa loob (or maybe because it was raining when I was there) so bring something to warm you up a lil :)

if i remember correctly, i think the process was xray, lab (urine, blood), vitals (check ng weight, height, eyes, blood pressure) , then a doctor will see you to check your immunization history (will check for evidence if you had measles so maghanap ka na ng scar, hehehe, i just pointed to something that looks like it :), then after that you will have to leave your documents at the 5th floor to queue up for the physical exam (where you need to disrobe, hehehe) pero this starts in the afternoon at around 1:30 so they will let you have lunch before that :)

and hwag masyadong magworry sa mga nurse and doctors, i think they're just too tired of the routine stuff so some of them are masungit pero most of them are friendly :) keep smiling and be confident!

    alrightie!?!

  17. thank you.. but u know what, WHAT IF! i got infected again? I went to see my private pulmo today and she said that we can get infected again even if we have been cured from our previous infection.

i seriously dont know where i got it since my family has been checked already. maybe i got it from the plane, i travel a lot and i could have gotten it from my trips that took more than 20 hours - super dirty raw kasi ng air sa loob ng plane kaya be very careful and make sure you are all healthy and have taken vitamins before you fly somewhere else in the world! or wear something to cover your nose and mouth, buti na ang paranoid than to get all these diseases :(

and another thing, i never had sputum test during my previous treatment. my pulmonologist just ruled that it is just a scar now and that i am already a ptb5 case. so medyo worried pa rin ako, but i already told myself that if i do get positive in the culture test, i would be very willing to take the treatment, after all, its just 6 months and it is less expensive to have it here than to go through those meds/shots in the US.

everything should be fine :) even if i had a lot of teary moments today but i managed to smile. my honey is sad but he's right, he wants me to be fine and healthy, and that's the most important thing.

for the rest who may go through the same case .. i will include you in my prayers :)

  18. No need to worry coz for sure you'll find other women during the exam. If walang family na kasama, malaki ang possibility na k1 or k3 :) so just try and ask around and you'll surely meet friends during the whole process.

I met a lot of nice girls and we all shared experiences while waiting for our names to be called. Dont worry, you'll be fine, just make sure you bring something to drink, I think they will only allow water, coz yung isang girl na kasama ko she was asked to leave her gatorade and some food outside. U might want to bring sandwhich just in case :) kasi hindi ka nila papayagang lumabas for lunch until you complete a certain step, i think before the actual Physical exam.

    Good luck!
