  1. Thanks BeanTownBabe!

    Needed that.

It is just so painful to be counting days and then to have arrive 12 days late, not the form I was expecting, but a form that will probably delay an additional two or so weeks. So almost a month back. It's like ####### are these ####### smoking? They cant make a 3 min call to the person who spends a hundred hours gathering all sorts of very hard to come by material, and who pays thousands of dollars, and wait endlessly and patiently! No bloody wonder there are so many illegals. They damn well desirve it cause whoever put together this #### show might at well be the designer of the indian electrical grid.

I will post what the form says tomorrow afternoon and hopefully can get some additional helpif anyone is in the know. Thanks for the pick me up though

  2. Hi all.

Well I had a depressing day. Pulled up to my mailbox and freaked in excitment as I saw what I thought was my biometrics letter from USCIS.

    Nope.

Instead a nice yellow RFE regarding my i-485. Apparently, my joint sponsor who is a real estate agent and friend who makes well in excess of 125,000 per year, is not adequately above the poverty line. At least this is what I am to assume, as the yellow letter is some generic piece of mail back garbage with three boxes which USCIS has checked all three. And the description next to each box is about a vague as it gets without any case specificity.

I feel like swearing and slamming my hand through a window. I am SO frustrated. I spent WEEKS checking and rechecking that material not to mention I am on such a time crunch although I know we all are ;)

What I dont understand is what I am missing. Of course it is Sat today and the office is only open Mon to Fri so when I call I get nothing.

I included for my wifes affidavit of support, and for my joint sponsor, a photocopy of each of their most recent tax refund statements (whatever its called.) My wife is a bartender so her on paper income didnt exceed 125% of the poverty line this my friend's joint sponsor who far exceeds the limits. The year before he made near a quarter million.

Anyway, not sure what I may have been missing. Any clues? And if I call Mon does an actual human with at least a tiny brain answer? Here's hoping.

    Blah, I'm going for a beer. ;(

  4. Hawkeye, I am just really working on the citizenship for a crack at a new program in the US Army that expedites training for qualified special forces applicants called 18x.

There may be a few other benefits when creating a biz or something similar, but again, that endless tax is the primary issue/concern.

Beantownbabe, thanks for the good wishes. Yet again, nothing in my mailbox. ;( I wouldn't be so upset about it but to see you all getting yours in 3-4-5 days and I am going on 10, just makes me wonder. I was reading another thread and someone said they're wife hadn't got her Biometrics letter for 3 months. I can't believe that. It that happens to me I'll go nutzo.

Like I said yesterday, there is always tomorrow.

  5. Thanks for the uplift. I am feeling like I should get my biometric letter tomorrow but who knows. I am going to do the walk in, and if you say the afternoon (for Boston) is a better time to try, then the afternoon it is! Maybe 1 or 2 ish?

I didn't know that the RFE and Biometrics letter were independent of one another. I foolishly thought it was a whole linear process, where one delay caused others.

Another interesting fact which I have just learned and is applicable to all if not most people here...

If you are let's say Canadian as I am, you can leave Canada to reside in another country and claim yourself as a non-resident. If you meet all the requirements, you effectively retain your Canadian citizenship, without benefits say health care, and you are exempt from paying your income tax. This is different than the foreign gains, or foreign income law.

This is not true with the US. So once we all accomplish our dreams of finally becoming US citizens, we are in effect financially glued to the state for ever. So if me and my wife were to move back to Canada, or Britain, or anywhere for that matter, we would always be paying our taxes in the US. Just thought it was one of the few negatives to becoming American when other than that, all I see is positives. Interesting.

  6. Were all still here ;)

I am just waiting in frustration for my biometrics letter. I mean #######?! Each day I open the mailbox and nadda. I am feeling like an RFE may be headed my way (knock on wood). Just frustrating. I was hoping for like a 4-5 day wait after the NOA's. Looks like the average wait time on this forum from NOA to Biometrics Letter is 3-4 days. Should I worry?

I guess there is always tomorrow. ;)

  7. Thanks all.

Let me quickly clarify my concern.

It is not so much about her (wife) not being there for an interview, or travelling against regulations. I am really just concerned with how it may look to the USCIS official when the interview actually comes about. I mean, what if they ask, when did she leave the country last or similar. And she says a month in Feb.

I dont want it to look odd that I sent/let/waiting/separated (whatever term) from my wife for a full month without me going. I am thinking will she/he take this as a sign we dont love each other or some scam is going on.

Am I over worrying? Obviously I would be going with her if I could but as it stands, I cant leave the country till this goes through or gets denied. Kind of trapped here and I really want her to take this trip before she turns 25 and it costs a ton more. Not to mention a good time slot has opened up for her allowing this.

    So, worry or dont worry?

    Thanks all. Worry wort. ;)

  8. Hey all.

Question. I am on a tourist visa which then unplanned became a marriage and AOS filing. Every person and lawyer then said, DO NOT leave the country until after it is approved or denied. So as you can see by my timeline, I am in that process and waiting for biometrics next.

But, I had promised to take a trip on my wife's month off work in Feb to Europe. I realize now I cannot. She found a girlfriend she wants to go with if I can go, and I still want her to go and have fun. She is 24 and can still get the youth rate on Eurail but only till March so I figure what the hell, get out there and experience stuff. I am fine to stay around the house for a month, although not happy. ;)

I am wondering if USCIS will ask or frown on this when interview time comes around. Like the fact that she took a month holiday and I was stuck here. Or will they not even ask about her. What do you all think? Tnx.

  9. Yes! Got my 3 NOA's today telling my the biometric schedule letter is coming. It said I had to bring the NOA's in to the biometric appointment cause of the bar code on them, just as you all said, so I am wondering if I can now go and try the walk in. Is there also a bar code on the appointment letter, or just the date and the NOA forms are the form you need.

On a side note, I received a letter from the f*%#ing IRS for the very same day I get my NOA's, which was today. HAHA Classic America. Wasting no time and getting their hands in my pockets. Dammit. ;)

  10. Cool thx Beantownbabe. I'll wait till I get the letter then try a walkin. I am actually in Nantucket so it is a hike, but worth it if it saves even a few days. I am on a major time crunch. I still didnt get my NOA today. So I am hoping Monday. I am assuming from this thread you all got your biometrics letter almost directly after. I was also trying to find what the second NOA means. Is that to let you know you've actually received approval, rather than just then receiving you package?

  11. For those who are doing or have done the biometric 'walk-in' attempt, I am wondering if that is only after they recieve their NOA or their Biometrics scheduled appointment. I am wondering if there is any point in trying a walk-in prior to recieving the letter. Prob not huh? Just racing the clock for the army SF deadline which I am trying to meet, so any extra time is a massive plus for me.

And what is up with still no NOA ;(. That damn thing better show up soon, I'm loosing my mind trying to confirm that my package even made it to the right address seeing as I am the only person I have seen that had a different lady sign for my package...Chiba. Man this waiting game gets ya, huh? ;) (And this is just the start)

  12. Not sure if we all post our updated details as they occur here, or make spreadsheet changes on our own.?!

Anyway, my package was received and signed today by Chiba, and I guess I wait till I get a NOA in the mail correct? I created an account on the USCIS.gov site under https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp so I am assuming that is where I monitor the progress. I was also thinking that I may try and do a 'walk-in' at the biometrics office in Boston next time I am there as I read a few others did on this board, to save time and speed things along. I mean, what can I lose right.

  13. I just filed via overnight with UPS to the Chicago Lockbox. I guess the first day of the rest of my life. haha How dramatic. I guess I can officially start my timeline.

Anyway, I want to give a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to every person on this site who compiled an example form, a guide, responded to a thread, created a thread, just overall to the whole visa journey staff, owners and community. It helped immensely.

Also, although I checked about 500 times my package before mailing, I am wondering what the process is if I forgot a photo, or to sign something, or similar. I mean I am sure people occasionally neglect a blank or something. Do they call me or send the whole thing back? What is the process for errors, missing info, forms, etc. OK. Thanks again all!

  14. He all.

I have an issue reading a few recent threads that have made me about as nervous as I can possibly be about my situation. All I have for adequate proof really is two NON NOTARIZED affadavits which friends wrote, a few copies of past phone bills including one month from 2005, a joint bank statement and the marriage certificate. We got married in Vegas and did it at a drive through, haha thats us though, and even only have a few pics. She (my US wife) couldn't prob get me in a suit if she tried, and we got married spontaneous while on holiday but haven't told her parents.

Anyway, I wanted to know if this is enough to prove our real marriage. I am nervous we are going to get the shakedown of all shakedowns as it is not a 'normal' church wedding with family and friends. Anyway that is a wayz away. Someone said I could get a lawyer for just that interview day. So do you all think I should include more stuff? Thanks

  15. payxibka...Thanks for that UNBELIEVABLY FAST reply.:thumbs:

Wow, I guess that is 12 pages of G-325a. What happened to the saving paper act. haha

So much repetitiveness in all this. So should I go in and refill out the g-325a with my wife's vitals, rather than just her signature I am assuming?

I want to point out fast how great everyone here is to us form newbs who are just beginning the process. As I add to my time-line and learn I hope to help others as my knowledge grows. You guys really are great and its very much appreciated for those with limited cash. ;) Thanks again.
