I would wait another month to apply if i were you. San Francisco office is very quick and most likely you will have your interview about a month before your anniversary date if you apply now. That means additional waiting time to be approved and then more waiting for the oath ceremony. If you apply around 60 days before your anniversary, most likely your interview will be after the anniversary date and you will be eligible to be approved right away. You should check the other SF applicants' timelines.

It's 10/21, almost one month away. So, I don't expect to hear anytime soon. However, knowing San Francisco office is very fast, my oath date should not be any later than November. Good luck to you on your wait, too.

Thank you for your good wishes Aminesbaby,
I had a very easy interview today. The actual interview lasted about 10 minutes. The total time I was in the building was 32 minutes including the waiting time. The IO was very friendly. After swearing in I asked him to update my application since I answered 'no' to the question if I ever received citation. I had couple of traffic tickets in the past. He let me updated and said it's not a big deal. He didn't ask for proof of payment for the citations.
He didn't asked to see any of the documents I brought. He said the evidence I sent with my application was more than enough. He went through the application package and asked some of the yes/no questions. After I signed the application he did the reading/writing tests. I read "How many senators do we have?" and write "We have one hundred senators."
These are the civic test questions I was asked:
- What's the name of the national anthem?
- Why there are 13 stripes on the flag?
- What happened on 9/11/2001?
- What's the name of the ocean on west coast of the US?
- What's the rule of law?
- How old do you have to be to vote for president?
He said everything was well but he couldn't approve me today because my three year anniversary is not up yet. but, I should expect the approval letter in the mail soon after the anniversary. I assume my oath date will be either November 9th or 30th. I would prefer October 25th but probably there is not enough time to receive the oath letter in time for that day.

That was fast! If you're lucky, you might get the Sept 15 ceremony
the same date I am shooting for.IMHO, Sept 15 oath date is unlikely. Assuming the application was sent exactly 90 days before the 3 year anniversary, a September ceremony falls short of the 3-year rule. So, an October ceremony is more likely.
Now the question is, if Sept 15 is scheduled and oath is given, assuming again the three year is not complete, would that cause any legal problems?

USCIS and IRS definitions of "resident" are very different. You maybe an illegal alien according to USCIS definition but still be a resident for tax purposes.
H&R Block or other tax mills are not the best places for even a little complicated tax returns. Most tax preparers work there get minimum training before they start working there. You can do better yourself with a tax software. I suggest you to go to a CPA or an Enrolled Agent.

I check the uscis website today and i found this message after i got the welcome letter 2 days ago :
Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On October 29, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.
So i got a little confusion, what the difference between the welcome notice and the approval notice?

I'm still confused about the differences, if there is any, between IR1 and IR6.

The welcome letter I received says IR6. Does anyone know the difference between IR1 and IR6? Could IR1 conditional, and IR6 10 year classification?? The USCIS codes lists both as "spouse of a US citizen", but doesn't say anything else.

Hi!! everybody ....I just had my AOS interview last week oct. 22, 2008 and we were able to pass the interview. it wasn't hard for us because we were prepared. all the documents the USCIS needed was with us. tey only ask our ID, passport, and a little personal questions.
i will be receiving my conditional green card within 2 weeks.
Goodluck to the rest who will have their interview soon. Just be prepare and everything will be alright for you too.

Thank you all! No, she did not mention or offer any stamp in passport, nor did we ask for it. BTW, do you have interview in the morning or afternoon? Somebody mentioned morning ones are the really simple ones, so they go through the approvals very quickly. That appeared to be the case while we were there.

I read that topic, too but I believe every case is different. I think everyone should take that warning with a grain of salt. I had an afternoon interview. It couldn't be any easier for me. I saw couple of others who had their interview before me. My impression was they were all leaving with a big smile on their faces. Although I didn't see when they were all going in for the interview, I know for a fact that at least one other couple had a very short interview, too. They were called less than a minute before us and we saw them again in the elevator when we were leaving.

You can do either way. If I were you I wouldn't worry about it. The copy of the amended return is all you need for 2009. If you are worry though you can have the amended return stamped in your local IRS service center. To do this, print out two copies. Take both copies to your local IRS service center. They will keep one copy and stamp the second copy as "filed". Good luck!
