  1. I am new to the forum, and have also filed through an attorney in late August... The case is still pending at the MSC, as we just responded to the RFE letter with detailed income tax returns (as opposed to a summary). What have your experiences been working with attorneys and/or their legal assistants? :hehe:

Before I filed all my paperwork by myself I went to a local immigration lawyer office and asked him straight up: " what is it you have that I don't?" he told me - experience. So I went to this website, spoke to a couple of my friends who have already gone through all this and saved like $3K.

Thank you for your reply. Actually you are absolutely right. My experience hasn't been up to my expectations, especially for such a straight-forward case... I didn't want to bother doing all the paperwork, so I chose to hire an attorney... Looking back, I definitely should have done my homework and just trusted myself doing this. Sigh.

Knowing how it works in New York there's a chance that your "lawyer" is not actually a lawyer, but someone who knows how to fill out immigration paperwork and had done it before. Sorry :(

  3. Mmmm82, have you put in a change of address notice with the post office? You should do that anyway. If you do that, anything USCIS sends to the old address will still reach you. I am looking at the page on their site that explains address change with the A-11 and I am confused.

####### do they mean the address will not be changed for your pending application? Isn't that sort of the whole point?

I know this is very common--lots of people move during the process. You might want to try a VJ search or start an OP. I wouldn't worry about it, but you do want to make sure you have it covered. Chances are anyone here who has dealt with the address change knows more than the person who answers the phone at USCIS.

    Yeah

I'm also confused very much so.

Anyway I did setup mail forwarding with USPS and also submitted the online AR-11 form so hopefully it's gonna be enough.

  4. Well guys I moved last weekend and according to the USCIS website I have to submit AR-11 form for the change of address (by mail OR online) and also call the 1800 number to change address for every application individually. So I called them this morning and got through right away with no wait whatsoever.

OMG those poor representatives! Their entire job consists of 95% of general statements and only 5% of actual answering questions.

Anyway she told me that since I have already submitted the AR-11 online I didn't have to call them. Apparently I'm gonna get official confirmation letter in the mail within 45 days. Is this true guys?

Also my case number is still unavailable online and when she checked it for me I don't think she got anything either. She just told me the general BS about waiting 180 days and calling again.

    I'm so frustrated, so disappointed!...

  5. Well guys, I did a walk-in for my Biometrics. I went to my local office, walked in and asked if they could do it. Since there weren't many people they took me in. Took only about 20 minutes, my hands tend to sweat alot so they had to re-do them a couple of times. Took my picture and told me to expect my Work Permit in the next 30 to 60 days.

I was scheduled for next week! hehe

    :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Thank you for the awesome idea, Jjsr !!!!!

I went to the fingerprint office this morning and asked them to do my fingerprints.

Even though they were like a dozen people in line somehow I managed to jump them all and was done within 10 minutes.

    This is totally worth trying.

    Good luck everyone.
