  2. hey guys

    short question

in the interview letter stands that they want tax income returns w2 from the recent year

so when i filed august 2008 i gave them the stuff from 2007...

when i go to the interview in march, should i bring from 2008 now?or is that not necessary?we dont file the tax stuff yet?!?!?!?

I believe it says "most recent tax return' not "most recent year tax return"

just give them the latest one you have

  3. Hello evebody I have a question .I came to USA and my I end up overstaying .When I go fill it out the forms .They ask questions like :

When your I-94 and your visa should expired ???.Should I put the date expired anyways .or just N/A ???Thanks !!

mine expired like 8 years ago and that's the date that I put in there

  4. So me and my wife had our interview this morning.

It was scheduled for 10 AM and we had to wait till 10:30 to get called.

Both of us are russians and we managed to get a russian-speaking immigration officer!!! which didn't help us a little bit.

He asked us all the standard questions from the application and asked for pictures and documents together. Most of the 30 minutes in his office we were silently watching him going through some paperwork, making notes and remarks.

At the end he welcomed me to the US and wished us a good day.

  5. oh btw i have one question

what means certified copy of a marriage license..is it not enough when i make a copy and bring the orginal mariage license with me to the interview??i already sent with my aos a copy of the marriage license???

    @jeraly..no AP..dont need one hehe

I got a certified copy of my marriage license from the City Hall. It was $5 and it looks like a bad photocopy with some official seal and clerk's signature.

I now some ppl who actually got delayed because they didn't have the "certified" copy.

  6. Hi J-1 Guys.

So my interview went good and bad. However, I did pass I guess. I got to the place around 20 minutes early. I waited until thirty minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Then I was finally called. My husband and I followed our adjudicator through to his office and he made us raise our right hand and swear to tell the truth. We then gave our passports and some documents for photocopying. He asked the questions like had I ever been convicted of a felony etc. He copied the things and that was fine. The problem I had was that the doctor had not completed the medical correctly and USCIS had thrown away my father in laws copy of his tax return. My husband and father in law have the same first name and they thought it was a duplicate copy. What I have to do is obtain another copy of his tax return and get the doctor to fix his paper work and return it on Friday and then everything will be fine.

I produced a few copies of things that prove we have a relationship but he didn't look at many things and didn't look at any photos. So it was very quick and painless.

    Good luck!

    thanks for the info!

  7. Hi, everybody!

Had difficulty in finding someone adjusting from J-1 visa . glad i found you :-)

i have a question. i entered U.S. as a J-1 visa holder with no actual intention of getting married. But we did get married after all :-) and it`s been 3 months now but we haven`t sent AOS package yet. I`m waiting to get my medical records from Russia for the medical exam. Does it matter how long we wait before applying for the GC? Does it affect the process in any way? and do i really need my medical records for the medical exam?

pls, give me some advice. i`m just all mixed up about the things we need to do. Can i apply for EAD after all this time? i read somewhere you can only do it within 90 days of ur arrival or smth like that...

    i would appreciate any help!!!

зачем ты ждешь свою медицинскую карту из россии если все прививки можно сделать сдесь дешевле и быстрее?

    у меня все заняло неделю.

не тяни резину - чем бысрее подашь, тем быстее получишь!

  8. Thanks everyone for the help. Does anyone know who's name appears on the EAD envelope. Im nervous now that I might of missed it or something. I just hope its on its way soon because I have jobs lined up but no way to work. Its pure frustration waiting. Also, does anyone think I should make an infopass appt? Ive been told to just wait it out b/c of the RFE.. but im very impatient as to what is going on.

your name will appear on the envelope.

and yes, you should make an appointment with them

  9. I'm with the June 2008 fillers.

Our interview was on 12/5/08 and most of the June 2008 fillers still have not received an interview notice. Most of them who received notices are set for a January interview.

USCIS is just moving a little slow, but they will get everyone eventually.

We filled for the AOS in the middle of June and our interview was about six months after the I-485 was submitted.

So I'll be forcasting interview letters to be comming out for majority of August fillers around February for March interview.

By the way, when we received the interview letter in the mail, it just showed up.

There were no updates nor touches in USCIS website. So if you guys are wondering why are there no touches since biometrics, dont worry. We were in the same boat.

    Thanks for the info, Doc!

  10. Actually according to the filing instructions for the application to lift conditions there will be no second interview.

    where did you see that?

    ok

I guess I made it up

my point is it doesn't say anywhere that there will be a second interview

none of my friends had it

as the matter of fact it says if for any reason you get divorced anytime after getting your temporary GC than you don't have to wait for 2 years to apply and you will get your 10-year-GC obviously without the interview.

  11. I think they say "initial interview" because there will be another interview for lifting conditions.

Actually according to the filing instructions for the application to lift conditions there will be no second interview.

Also my friends and people who have gone through the immigration process lately report that people rarely get a second interview.

I think they use to require everyone to go through the hell with multiple interviews long time ago, but now they wave this requirement due to the heavy work load.

  12. I was hoping I would get my intertiew letter this week...so I made and info pass for Friday.

I also scheduled InfoPass appointment for this Friday, however I'm not sure is they are going to be able to help me. My only issue is that I've moved to a different apartment since I submitted all the paperwork, but they keep sending everything to my old address (like my EAD) even though I've let them know my new address. So I guess I'm just desperate to get my GC and willing to waist some immigration officer's time to see if I could get some more information about it.

They also require some Service Request ID Number. Any idea what that is?

  13. Hi everyone.

I entered US with J1 visa in 2001 (no 2 year HRR).

My visa had been expired for over 6 years when I got married last summer.

I submitted all the paperwork in August and already received my EAD (please see my timeline)

I do believe that the process is different for different types of visas.

For example those who arrived here with K1 (or any other kind of fiancee visa) sometimes skip the interview here because they had their interview at the embassy in the country of origin. J1 holders are destined to be screwed in the ### a little before getting the GC.

I do not have my interview letter yet and hoping for the best.

    Good luck ya all.

  14. The approval occurred very quickly anyway. Is this a normal amount of time if an interview isn't required? And why do they sometimes interview, and sometimes not?

From what I understand those, who come into the country as K1 or any other fiance visa holders, sometimes do not have to go through the interview process since most of them have already done the I-130 interview in the past.

On the other hand those who came here in any other way (ex. J-1, traveling etc.) will HAVE to go with the interview almost for sure since this would be their first time talking to the immigration officer.

    Any thoughts on this?

  15. Guys

So according to the uscis website my EAD was approved on October 7.

Right now online status is "On October 15, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I765 APPLICATION"

I haven't received anything in the mail however I moved a couple of weeks ago.

I did the whole mail-forwarding thing and I called uscis to let them know my new address.

Is there any chance of my EAD being lost somewhere in the mail? Has anyone experienced anything like this?
