WOOOOHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! WE HAVE BEEN RELEASED!!!!!!!! TODAY!!!!!!! SEVEN WEEKS EXACTLY!!!!!!!
Hang on everyone, around 7 weeks is the timeframe!!!!
THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!
-
Thanks for info Shefell and Dodoma!!!
Soon~tobe: I really hope you get some answers this week. My heart goes out to you....I hope they find your case and get it out of NVC within two days like I've seen a lot on VJ doing......don't give up....stay strong and positive.....this process can be very disheartening at times....but remember that God is ultimately in control and His timeframe is not always our timeframe....but, it is always best.
-
CONGRATULATIONS CDNEH!!!!
-
Hey Jaqi!!!
Still here......we are still waiting for our case to leave the NVC.....Monday will be 7 weeks there!!!! But, was told it should be leaving there soon.....we got caught up with a group of files just before the holidays that got stuck there.....My fiance is just waiting for the word that it is on the way to the embassy so he can travel to Nairobi for the medical and interview.....so....hopefully within the next week or so he will be on his way there!!!
I see your interview is coming up......I'm excited for you guys......and also thanks for the details on the medical.....any and all information is so helpful.......
Oh yeah...I do have a question....in the packet that you got from the embassy, did it specify which papers you have to turn in with the I-134 for supporting evidence?
It was good to hear from you!!!!
-
Did you put down that the embassy you would be going to is Nairobi, Kenya?
-
Hey All........another week huh?
My well wishes for your interview CDNEH!!!
As for me.......I called today to check if my case was still there...(today makes 6 weeks and 4 days).....a nice girl answered and told me it was still there.....then I said "Wow, on Monday it will be 7 weeks, that sure is a long time"....then she asked me if I wanted her to ask a supervisor to check on the case.....I said "that would be GREAT".....so she put me on a hold for a long time and then came back and said that the supervisor was going to follow up on my behalf and it shouldn't be much longer until my case heads to the embassy......so, I asked her if I could call back Tuesday and she said sure.
So, that was bad news and good news.....bad - it is still there, good - a supervisor may be checking on the delay........
I really hope to not be the one to break the 7 weeks 3 day record.......actually, I hope none of us have to!!!!! So, hang in there all......let's see what next week holds!!!!!
-
Hey Everyone!!!!!
Just checking in......we are still "stuck @ nvc" but hope to get out this week as most people that are stuck are getting released between six and seven weeks.....so, Monday makes six weeks for us.........
Anyhow, I was going to send the doctor information in an email and when I went to the embassy website, they added the original doctors back in......so here it is again.......

NO OTHER MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS ARE ACCEPTABLE TO THE U.S. EMBASSY IN NAIROBI
NOTE: The applicants are required to carry along with them on the day of appointment and assessment the following:
• Valid Passport
• A letter indicating date of appointment and case number from the US Embassy
• Two recent and color passport size photos
The correct medical examination forms (DS-2053) are available from the U.S. Embassy. The doctor will require two photographs and the Embassy will require three more photographs. Applicants will therefore require a total of five photographs. Completion of the medical and all related tests require at least one week. Be sure to schedule your medical appointment well in advance of your visa interview date.
A blood test for antibody to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is required as a part of your medical examination. HIV is the virus that causes the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). AIDS is the name given to a group of illnesses that may occur in persons affected with HIV. This defect leaves people vulnerable to serious illnesses that would not usually be a threat to anyone whose immune system is intact. This test does not diagnose AIDS, but detects antibodies to the virus.
The results of your test will be provided to a consular officer. Also, it may be necessary to report results to the health authorities in this country.
A positive test result will mean that you may not be eligible to receive a visa. A positive test result could also have other local consequences on your day-to-day activities in the country.

Congrats Teejay

Congrats on "GETTIN' OUT"..........Natan and Barenaked!!!!!
I called today.....we are still in there.......but, Monday is the six week mark for us.........so, you all have given me hope that I can call next Friday and have good news.......I make an oath right now not to call until then!!!!!
Also, for those of you who have gotten out before, how long did it take before NVC sent the letter to your home stating that your case was on the way to the embassy? Cuz, you know they always tell you when you call, that they will notify you in writing once your case leaves NVC......have you found this to be true?
-
Congrats jbmail and furious biscuit!!!!!
I am tempted to call as well, but will wait until either Thursday or Friday night!!!! Hope this is a great week for us all!
-
Hey All.....
We are still stuck @ nvc.......however, I really feel for those of you that have not received you NOA2........hang in there!!! It should be soon!!!!
-
SheFell....Congratulations on your case making it to the embassy without great delay!!!! Keep us posted!!!!
Soon~tobe.....have you tried posting a question out to the general forum to see what may be the reason that NVC can't find your case? Have you actually talked to people there? or are you just plugging in the number to the automated system? because the K1 visas don't show up in the NVC automated system. I hope you get good news soon.
-
Congrats Talyss!!!!
Well....we are at 4 1/2 weeks so......it looks like 1 1/2 more to go.......atleast we have a tangible mark to shoot for....good luck with the rest of your journey!
-
Just called NVC because I noticed that a package was sent to my embassy this evening.....but it wasn't mine..
However, the lady was extremely nice and thorough and although she basically said the same stuff, she said in a way like she cared and wasn't reading a script.
She did say that many people were calling tonight and they are aware of these cases needing to be expedited because they have time limits in order to get the visas.....so she said try back Friday or Tuesday but keep in mind that the delay might have been because of the holidays and don't forget that Monday is a holiday too.
So.....let's all keep hanging in there!!!!
-
Soon~tobe: I've received three letters saying that they have my case and it will be sent to Nairobi within the week....unfortunately the letters were dated Dec. 18, 19, and 23....and our case was still at NVC as of last Thursday. Also, when I called them, they do have our case in the system. Are you talking to a live person? Because it will not show up on the automated response at all.
SheFell: I hope your fiance gets well soon. I've never had malaria but am sure he is not feeling well. I was able to avoid it the two times I went to Rwanda....but I remember the pills making me nauseated.
-
Hey Guys......
Well, I called the embassy and the lady said the following:
1)No, they have not received our case.....(I tried just in case it was a fluke that NVC didn't know our case was gone......well, I should get an "E" for effort at least)
2)We have to wait until we receive the appointment letter from NVC to pick up the packet and do the medical because she said the medical will expire, so we have to wait. I asked her if we can call there once we know the package made it to Nairobi or do we have to wait for the letter from NVC and she said we would probably receive the letter before the package arrives there. Not sure about that........ARK1 and MADWOMAN Please Advise: Did you guys receive the NVC appointment letter before you called?
3)I asked about the change in doctors.....she said that they just changed them and the old ones are only good for the next two months, so, it may be best to just use the new ones.
So, that was the information that I got......let's hope we all leave NVC this week!!!! We will get through this together.
-
ChuckandGrace:
Well, if they told you it was sent, than it probably was.....so, yeah, I think your best bet is to call the embassy or if you want to be sure first and save money, call the NVC again and see if you get the same answer, then if so, call the embassy.
Why is it so expensive to call the embassy? is this a fee that they impose? I use an online calling card through Enjoyprepaid.com and I just looked up the rates and it says 12.5 cents/minute for Phillipines.......if you decide to use it get the emerald plan. I also use CTAcard.com....but the difference is, with CTA you have to use all the minutes in one call or you lose time.......but with enjoyprepaid.com, you can call back as much as you want and not be penalized. Of course, I am calling to Rwanda and not Phillipines, but it may be worth a try.
-
Chuck and Grace:
Reread your letters from NVC carefully.......do they say it HAS BEEN forwarded....or do they say that it WILL be forwarded within a week?
I have received three letters with different dates all saying the same thing....that it WILL be forwarded.....but tomorrow will make 4 weeks at NVC.....they said they will send a letter once it is sent but I haven't received that yet.....
So, it depends on which wording is in your letters.
-
Wow....soon~tobe and shefell......we are all thinking alike!!!! My fiance and I just discussed this same thing on Friday. So, I asked on the August thread and some people said it is up to the embassy. So, I looked up embassy info and someone had posted that you could show your NOA2 to get in the embassy and pick up the packet.
We are going to call the embassy in the morning and find out since he is in Rwanda and would have to make the trip. I also would like to clarify the doctors since there is a different list now than just a few weeks before, but maybe they are listed in the packet.
So, if the embassy says he can come with the NOA2 and pick up his packet, then we will also call for a doctor's appointment.
We are going to call as soon as they open in the morning, so I will post what I find out.
By the way, we will be at NVC for 4 weeks tomorrow. Hopefully they are trying to save money and are holding all our Nairobi packages together in order to send them at once!!!!
-
CONGRATULATIONS to all those who got out of NVC this week.....it gives us all hope!!!
miss_jane: I believe the call center is open Monday-Friday, 6:30am - 12:00am Eastern US time.
On Monday, we will be at NVC 4 weeks.....the last time I called was Thursday morning. I think I am going to wait until the 15th to call again. Man, I really can't take hearing them tell me our case is still in AP......it is so discouraging even though I know it is a process. But atleast seeing others get out this week gives me hope that things are getting back to normal and are starting to move.
-
MADWOMAN..........wow.........CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I am so happy for you guys!!!!!!!!!! What a great interview story. Thanks for the details and the renewed hope!
-
Congratulations for all approvals and scheduled interviews this week!!!
For those still waiting on NOA2 or Stuck @ NVC.....hang on in there!!!!
I, being someone stuck @ nvc, was wondering if my fiance can do his medical exam now since we do have our case number or does he have to wait until our file is received by the embassy? Is there somewhere to download the medical forms?
-
YEAHHHHHH!!!! Congratulations ARK1.........I'm very excited for you guys!!!!
Soon~tobe: I have the same dilemna......I really want to go to the interview for not only support and something memorable for us, but I don't want my absence to be judged......but I work for the school system and the way everything was initially moving, we thought we would be having our interview during winter break.....now our case is stuck at NVC......so, our schools are back in session.........if it drags out until Spring Break....maybe I can attend the interview......if not, he will be attending by himself....I know he will do fine.....he knows us.......but, just don't want to be judged by interviewer on the one point of not attending.
ARK1....can't wait to hear interview details.......
-
Well....against my better judgement I just called NVC......our case is still there......so, this lady said it usually takes about four weeks......so, today is just three weeks for us.........so, decisions, decisions.....call back Friday or wait til next Monday......guess I will decide that later......
In the mean time....I will just finalize all interview material......and of course, call my baby and talk about how much we love and miss eachother......
