  1. To add with your burden, when your fiance come here in US, he will still undergo TB test. They don't trust the SLEC, and they will have their own test.

    What are you talking about?

When did they start requiring another TB in USA.

My Fiance arrived in August last year. She never had to do another TB test.

I think you are giving inccorect information................

This is CORRECT information. For those who had medical problems in SLEC once they get here they will need to undergo to another TB test. both skin and Culture test.

  2. Nope st. lukes doesn't accept regular patients it is strictly for visa applicants only. if you have a problem with your lungs The sputum test is most likely to be inevitable.

I suggest, you take an xray from a hospital so that you'll know what to expect and be ready for it..

    Good Luck!!!

  3. do you really need to have an experience as a nurse in the PI before you can apply for a job here in the US??

And also any agencies that y'all guys can refer for my sister to apply for a nurse post here in the US??

Im a new graduate from philippines.. bacth 2008.. i have zero experience.. just focused on my NCLEX-RN.. now i work as RN in a hospital full time n part time in a nursing rehabilitation.. they will train you if you have no experience... (its hard at first but you will get used to it) and different institution have different requirements... but the most basic they need is the CPR/ BLS for healthcare provider given by the AMERICAN heart association or American red cross..

She eyeing for a nurse position in Texas, Can she apply directly to the hospitals there?? You think she can have a good chance of getting a post there??

Can we do (my other sister and I) anything to help her??

I really appreciate all this info guys.. Thank You very much!!!

  4. If she is not a registered nurse in the state where she is situated, it is difficult to find a job as an RN.

I am an RN too but they would not even hire me as a nursing assistant without being registered as a CNA here so I had to take the course and state board. I am working as a CNA now and also reviewing for my NCLEX.

First step is to have her Philippine nursing license registered here in America.

    Goodluck

Yep, she's already registered and evaluated and now will take NCLEX. the thing is she doesn't have an experience as a nurse??

After the NCLEX exam, can she apply directly to the hospitals here in the US?? or does she need to apply thru an agency in the PI?

thank you so much for all the replies it is really a big help.

  5. It would be much better if she submit applications on different hospitals or nursing homes rather than getting an agency.

Getting agencies that would sponsor her in coming to the US on a work visa are slim, since it's still recession here in the US.

how about in texas?? I've been there and seen all the hospitals, you think she can apply there? she's still in the philippines can they hire my sister directly without using an agency??

Appreciate all you response, Thank you very much redglasses, cezychic,DEDixon.

  6. I've flown PAL to las vegas, and never had any problems.. maybe because we had a business class ticket.

Good Luck to all of you!!

Yeah, if you can fly business class the service is well worth the extra money, not just on PAL but all of the airlines. It can get into your pocket quick though when you upgrade.

We got that ticket for 2k for the 2 pax.. cheaper compare with other airlines for business class..

  7. Sorry to hear that.. I've been to that same road and I know it's not easy, but we just support each other, and as always the end of the tunnel is the sweetest.. Good Luck to the both of you!! ;):)

    Thanks....ccndyeth

I am going to research it.....see how long and how many times...she will need to go thru this....

you are right is has not been easy from the start....and we hope it all being worthed at then end.

I think just once if her sputum culture turns out to be negative. however if it's positive it will be a 6mos medication and another 2 mos sputum culture.

  8. seriously, if the cat is real lethargic you might want a vet.

I went to the vet today.

Same as a doc, get a second opinion. Gotta watch out though, they will try to take you to the cleaners. You live in a big city so the chance of getting some tool box vet is very high. Talk to freinds.

Yeah, I suggest get a second opinion my dog died because the doctor diagnose it as a flu too, prescribe antibiotics then he got better for several days and my poor dog just collapsed.

We went to other vet and was diagnose as distemper, and the antibiotics the first doctor gave us only made it worst.

    Good luck to your cat!!

  9. wow thank you so much for your replies... It really helps my sanity and think more clearly what to do next. My husband and I argued last night but we are ok now... still not into cuddling and talking mood.

We decided to sit down and reduce our expenses

*i removed his data plan from his celphone which is $15 per month

*removed his $2.50 yahoo messenger plan

    * I reduced my netflix to one at a time for $8 a month... it used to be $40 because we get 5 at a time

    * we also removed our blu ray subscription $5 per month

I am planning to also remove my gps subscription in my celphone and just buy the real gps.

(we don't have cable subscription thats why we have netflix)

Next step maybe just hang our clothes instead of using the dryer. About our rent.. well can't really do anything til our lease expire in 2010 but my husband and I will try to negotiate with them. Maybe that would help.

He'll get his bonus this October it's not a lot but it helps, and i get paid 3x this October.

But i am pretty sure he will be reported to the collection agencies. If that happens, can we still continue paying the debts? Whats gonna happen after hes being reported?

Thank you so much! I never expected a lot of good suggestions!

I think it's gonna affect his credit score.. or both of your credit score since you're married..

If my memory serves me right and anyone can correct me if Im wrong you since you're married anything happens to his credit score will also affect yours..

Good luck to the both of you.. You'll surpass this Im sure.. You're husband is fortunate coz you're patience is really long.

  10. Do like a friend did. Get as many cards as you can, max them out and go bankrupt!

Lots do so but it sucks as it affects straight shooters big time.

Is this really a responsible thing to be promoting here??

That's so irresponsible thing to do.. :hehe:

  11. if only life was that simple :crying: st lukes will not honor nor accept results from other hospitals, not even their own st lukes main . only results from st lukes extension clinic will be honored by the us embassy. if the immigrant has an abnormality in the xray, she will be required to do the 3 day sputum tests, no matter what. i suggest she does the medical exam as early as she can.

I understand your response. However this is not what I was suggesting.

What I am saying is to get a sputum test 3 months or so ahead of the SLEC medical just to see if there is a problem in the lungs, and if so, Pinay can take meds and get cleared up prior to her SLEC medical.

Like taking a practice test, before the real test. Are sputum tests expensive at a private clinic in Phils?

    Cheers.

I don't think that is possible. the medication takes 6 mos to clear up.. if it clears up.. sometime the bacteria leaves a scar and if so SLEC will still has to do a sputum culture test. Even if you declare that you undergo a medication SLEC will not it, they would need to do their own sputum culture test.

  12. YOu can call the USEM and schedule your interview now.. no need to wait for the packet 3.

then when you schedule your interview, you can get the clearance and other documents since your gonna present all of it during your interview.

at least that's what we did before. I don't know if the procedure already changed.

    Good Luck !!! ;)
