Dianne- try to drink lots of water and eat food with lots of fibers. Also, you can drink prune juice. Never ako nag constipation when I was pregnant. Peru nong pagka tapos kung nanganak nag constipated ako dahil sa pain pills na iniinom ko. Uminom ako prune juice and it really help.

Hi princeandprincess! Hay naku, I've been reading the posts on here but di nakakapagreply kasi hawak-hawak si Maizy. She's in her bassinet now so I have some time (till the next breastfeeding). My incision is ok, kaya lang medyo nag-open on the leftmost side about 2mm with some drainage. Had Hubby check it kasi di ko makita without a mirror. Wala naman daw nana, which is good. Otherwise, sarado na, although di pa namin tinatanggal yung mga steristrips na nilagay. My postpartum check isn't till Tuesday so will see what the Ob says by then. My problem now is that it's been 15 days since I gave birth and I am still passing out some blood. I consulted with my cousin's wife who is an OB (in the Phils) and she says that it's unusual for me to have some bleeding till now . I thought so, too, and I remember when I had Alec it took just about 10 days for the bleeding to finally disappear. But this time around, may blood pa rin, about 2 tablespoonsful this morning in the bathroom plus I can feel it coming out. Cousin's wife advised me to rest more and increase my iron tabs to twice daily, and to not resume driving yet (which I welcome anyway due to the slippery icy roads). The bad side is that hubby has had to resume his weekend work so that he won 't be home from early morning till late at night. Meantime, I have the baby downstairs in her pack-n-play along with everything she would need for the day para di ako akyat-panaog. I have also decided to put off doing the laundry till when hubby is home.

Maizy is mixed-fed kasi kulang yung gatas ko. She now adds about 3 oz to whatever amount of milk she gets from me. Am having problems pumping milk; mahina yung production sa left ko kesa sa right. My right produces at least 2.5oz with the pump, yung left, wala pa yatang 1 oz. Don't know why but ganun din nung ke Alec. Maizy cries pag nasa left sya kasi di pa sya nabubusog, wala na sya makuha. Oh...gave her her first tub bath this morning; nalaglag na pusod nya yesterday. Kaya lang, after her bath, I fed her tapos nagpoopoo sya ng madami at kumalat sa lower back nya...e, she had a onesie on so kumalat pa sa buong likod nya. So...another wash...with another round of wailing

To those who were asking - I was provided with ready-to-feed Similac Advanced with Iron at the hospital as a supplement to feeding Maizy as my milk had not come in yet. But I made sure that the first feeding she got was from me. Sa recovery room pa lang pinadede ko na sya. In addition to that, I was given a diaper bag that contained a sample of Similac Advanced powder. That can has since been consumed. We went to WalMart to buy another can of formula and, my, how expensive formula can be! I looked at Parent's Choice and did a comparison of its contents to that of Similac and Enfamil and it is comparable, down to the DHA and ARA content . We bought that instead and let Maizy try it. She has no complaints about it and takes it in readily. Parent's Choice is WalMart's brand...is cheaper, too.

I have a schedule with WIC on the 20th. To those who received formula from WIC, what size cans of formula did you get and how many?

RR - I just had my postpartum check up yester. Akala ko now yung sked ko buti na lang tumingin ako nung SUnday sa calendar at Monday pala at hindi Tues ang sked ko Pinaganswer nila ako ng mga questions na nakasulat sa papel to check if i am having postpartum depression at wala naman akong ganung nararamdaman Ni check din nila yung uterus ko kung bumabalik na sa dating size at nakasked na naman ako next month for papsmear.

About sa feeding ng milk, mejo less na akong magbreastfeed now. Yung anak ko ang iniinom na gatas everyday is 1QT ng Enfamil Lipil Ready To Use. We tried one time yung powder kung magugustuhan nya pero ayaw nya nung powder eh. Sumisimangot mukh nya tas tinutulak ng dila nya palayo sa bibig nya hehe. Ang cute nga nyang tingnan pagsumisimangot kasi nakakatawa mukha nya Oo nga pala, pinapadede ko din cya every morning then 1QT nacoconsume nya na formula milk.

te Ady (frosty), Shiela, Marybeth - good luck sa inyong pag-ire. Nung una eh hindi ko alam kung paano umire natatakot kasi ako na baka poopoo lumabas at hindi baby lol! Ask ko lang kung sino ang nagbrebreast pump dito? I am thinking na bibili kami ng breast pump this month. Meron na ako nung Medela Manual breast pump kit" pero ang gusto ko kasi yung machine at hindi manual. I'll try to borrow sa WIC ng machine tom kung meron pa silang available tapos kung koomportable akong gamitin ang machine eh dun kami bibili. Ask sana ako ng suggestion kung ok ba yung nakita ko sa Walmart na Playtex Electric BreastPump?

I try to breastfeed as often as possible as I would rather that Maizy gets breastmilk...ang mahal naman kasi ng formula. Thing is, kulang pa rin yung amount ng gatas ko so that after an hour or so of feeding, gutom pa siya and i then have to give her formula. At 11 days old, she consumes about 3 ounces per formula feeding. I've only used the pump a few times kasi nga maya't maya dumedede si Maizy. Am using the Evenflo Comfort Select. Ok naman siya. If breastfeeding, kelangan pagtiyagaan...baby gets hungrier faster since brestmilk is easier to digest. Maizy feeds about every 2 hours, sometimes lesser time than that.

Maizy was baptized this morning during the 11am Mass. The priest thought it worthwhile mentioning during the sermon how appropriate the occasion was as she was born Christmas morning She slept throughout the entire thing, just flinching a bit when the first cupful of water was poured on her head. Prior to the final blessing, the priest took her in his arms and presented her to the community present. Of course, Mommy and Daddy couldn't be prouder. She wore the same garment her Ate Alec did 7 years ago It was basically a community event as some of the churchgoers took the time to wish Maizy well. It was also very nice having my cousins drive for 8 hours from Toronto to play godparents (even if the kids have school the next day). Nothing like having family around on such a special occasion.

Maizy's appetite exceeds my milk supply so that kelangan talaga mag-supplement minsan. She's now 9 days old and seems to have an attitude when she doesn't get what she wants right away...whether it be finding my nipple or getting her tushie cleaned or just getting attention...she lets out a loud wail just before starting to cry. Parang "ano ba!" ang dating. We have gone thru more than 40 diapers in 9 days I guess, getting an entire box is more economical than buying jumbo packs. Still needs work with the nightime routine. She is such a doll, though, and is all worth it :)

I really feel guilty na nagpastraight ako ng buhok today. It wasn't in my plan really. Sana hindi nakaapekto ky baby. Hindi ako mapakali..Doc Gracey, any advice?

Well, if it helps any, I had a semi-rebond done a couple weeks before I got pregnant so that yung gamot was in my hair during my 1st trimester...nothing bad happened

Ho-hum...just woke up from a much-needed nap. Maizy kept me up for 3.5 hours...and I had to be up early for her newborn check-up. She wouldn't let go of the breast...ginagawang pacifier ba. Ang sakit kaya So we had no choice but to give her 2 oz of formula kasi ubos na gatas ko. Still, she would not be appeased and finally slept with a pacifier in her mouth...she spit it out eventually and slept on. Check-up went well, will be back in 3 weeks for her 2nd Hep B shot. Came home and within an hour, I was wanting to take a nap so I took her upstairs and into the bed with me. Awakened by her Daddy, taking her downstairs...kahit tulog pa. I swear...he's going to spoil her silly. Sya na nga nagpaligo ng bata tonight, and he'll hold her in his arms whenever he feels like it (which is quite often). Something special between little girls and their daddies

My MIL will be going back to Thibodaux, La in 2 days. Wish she could stay longer and enjoy her two grandaughters longer. Then i have relatives coming in for Maizy's baptism which is set for Jan 3rd. Tapos nun, Alec goes back to school. Wish she could stay at home longer. I feel kinda guilty kasi I missed her 7th birthday last Dec 26th...I was still in the hospital then. Plus, I feel like I have not given her enough attention since coming home with Maizy.

So...another sleepless night is what I am looking forward to. Maizy is asleep right now and has been for about 2 hours now. Sigh...

hindi naman nakakaapekto yung caffeine sa baby kasi for me lagi akong umiinom ng soda...hay naku and actually huminto ako sa pag inom ng vitamins at ng iron pills...last refill ko ng vitamins ko was september and my due date was december and di ko rin naubos yung september refill...so naging pasaway talaga ako...di kasi ako nasanay na mag take ng any vitamins kasi sinanay kami ng mama ko na di maging dependent sa mga vitamins or medicine...and thank God okay naman baby ko. but im not telling everybody not to take kasi its for your own health and the baby too. i guess it depends on you lang.

Limit caffeine intake to 200mg/day. such a small amount won't affect the baby...larger amounts may result in a small baby I was a coffee addict but when I got pregnant, I've only been on the occasional decaf cup o' joe and caffeine-free, sugar-free soda.

About sa jaundice ng anak ko, ok na naman cya (I think) yung eyes nya eh hindi na mashado yellowish pati skin nya di na rin. Sabi ng Doc kapag tumaas pa daw ng 16 eh kailangan nya ng bili blanket pero thank God at hindi na nya kailangan nun

I am a breastfeeding mom. Sa umaga breastfeed si baby pero sa gabi formula na kasi asawa ko na nagbabantay sa anak namin para makatulog naman ako. May tanong po ako sa mga mommies.

Thanks Pink. Hubby spoils me...naawa nga ako kasi kung hindi si Maizy inaatupag nya, ako. I would like to breastfeed continuously. For now, Maizy spends at least 15 mins at each breast per feeding time. We use Similac Advance for supplementing. I do have a sample of Good Start and Enfamil. I got coupons by registering at the websites

We are now home. My hemoglobin is stable in the 7's but since di naman ako nahihilo, pinayagan kami makauwi. Of course, excited si Alec...she says dalawa na daw sila na princess dito sa bahay Hubby still attends to Maizy's diapers and getting her to me for feedings since I can't move all that well yet. My problem still seems to be going to the toilet...side effects of the pain-fighting mixture they put in with my spinal anesthesia. Am going to be drug-dependent for awhile. Good thing, too, at ngayon kami na-discharge kasi kung hindi, snow ang abot namin pag bukas pa.

Maizy's appetite increased dramatically overnite. She was at my breasts for more than an hour mga 1am and she was still hungry so that we had to supplement with the provided Similac Advance. She finally settled down after 3 hours, only to start fussing again a few mins after we thought we'd be able to get some sleep (my bowel problems ended at around 5am). Hubby requested the nursery to take Maizy for a few hours so I could rest, and she was returned to us at 10am on my insistence. She's made a lot of poop and had her first wet diapers. Feeling ko gutom sya lagi.

While waiting to be discharged, we had her photographed by the baby photographer contracted by the hospital.

Pink - physiologic jaundice occurs usually bet days 3-7. It's either bili-light or 30 mins plain ol' early morning sunshine...of course, you need to turn the heater up if you're going to take Zach's clothing off while exposing him to sunshine....if you do get sunshine.

(Belated) Merry Christmas to all!

Hay naku...yan na nga ba ang nangyayari sa naiinip...

Mazzelynn Eve made her debut at 9:52am Eastern of Christmas day She weighed in at 8.6 lbs and is 21 inches tall :) I had one strong contraction around 5am, went to the bathroom at ayun na nga...bloody show. Did not go to the hospital till an hour later when my contractions were 4 mins apart. Am currently still in the hospital recuperating, Maizy is currently seeking Daddy's favor...he just cannot not pick her up the moment she starts to cry. Ayun, first night namin pareho kaming puyat. I swear...pati recovery ko is far different from when i had Alec. Di ako maka-wee-wee after they took out the catheter at nag-spasm yung daanan ng wee-wee ko kaya they had to re-insert another. I've been able to relieve myself since then but the walk to the toilet is somewhat excruciating kasi nag-spasm parin yung pantog ko. They are still observing me kas my hemoglobin dropped from a 10.9 pre-op to a 7.6 post-op. Passed out a lot of blood clots kanina so i am currently awaiting the lab tech who'll be getting another blood sample for another blood count. The baby was observed in the special care nursery for a while kasi sabi malaki sya for her age in weeks. Everything turned out to be fine although they had to test her blood sugar every now and then. She is developing some jaundice on her face already and I would not be surprised if she becomes yellower tomorrow. She is purely breast-fed...nakakatulugan nga lang nya mag-dede. She as passed out meconium 4 times already which is good...needs to make wet diapers now

and good news din kasi nakapoopoo na baby ko kaninang madaling araw...pinanom ko sya ng tubig pero ayaw nya so nilagyan ko kunti ng breastmilk then he started drinking it pero parang nagdadabog hehehehe...then yun tinuhug-tuhog ko yung butt nya ng thermometer hehehehe...kunti lang naman then i guess yun ang nakahelp sa kanya na pagpoopoo...i dont know today kasi di pa sya nagpoopoo ulit as of now pero okay lang im just gonna wait. di ko muna sya binigyan ng formula...actually im not really breastfeeding but i just keep on pumping and di ko masyado syang kinakarga kasi baka masanay hehehehehe ewan ko lang baka sa ilang months na...di ko rin hinehele o dinuduyan kasi baka masanay rin...he has swing pero di ko muna ginagamit...pero minsan i try to make him sit para kahit papano maexercise nya yung head nya and neck.

brb muna rin ako kasi maglilinis muna ako hehehehe...

Well, breastfed babies poop easier than bottle-fed babies...it's the protein in formula that makes the baby constipated. Sayang naman yung pina-pump mo na milk. It's not too late to put him on breastmilk, you know.

Is good practice to not carry him all the time. Si Alec, di ko binibitbit lagi so that di sya mahirap patulugin at di sinumpong pag di kinakarga. I did not get nor wanted a swing. I was given a infant to toddler rocker though which I may just use to put the baby in after feedings para di nakahiga kaagad. I used a baby carrier with Alec. At 9 days, malambot pa yung head and neck ng baby...needs support at least till 3 months of age when he can hold his head up na talaga. Yes, he may be holding his head up a bit but his neck muscles aren't strong enough yet. That is where your mobile or whatever he can focus on comes in handy so he can turn his head from side to side and strngthen his neck muscles

Hubby is working Christmas eve into christmas morning, so I will be alone down in the living room in a little while. Going to call and "join" the annual family reunion occuring in the PHils right now

2 days before Christmas and here I am down with this stupid sinusitis. Cant breathe right, got post-nasal drip, sore nostrils, a very sore and highly-irritable throat. Thankfully, no fever, but I have not been able to sleep well the past couple of nights. Am now (on my insistence) on antibiotics but am quite impatient to lose these symptoms in time for Christmas day and for Monday's surgery. Not that they will postpone the CS; I just don't like being sick (i rarely get sick) and I would very much want to kiss my baby on her forehead.

Grabbeeee ang saya saya ko dahil kay baby! at sooooobbrrrang busy din ako at puyat at pagod pero worthy naman lahat by just looking at my son. Sencya na at hindi ako makapagbackread kasi sobrang busy pa me. Ngayon lang ulit ako nakahawak ng laptop sas sobrang kabusyhan kay baby. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng bumati at I am always wishing you all good delivery and healthy baby.

Yup, a baby is A LOT of work. Come to think of it, having kids is a lot of work. Then again, kids are our legacy and an extension of ourselves so that caring for them is caring for ourselves Anyway, enjoy his babyhood...mabilis dadaan ang panahon and you'll miss that

Riza-ok na ang eczema ni Jacob. I have this aveeno lotion with oatmeal yon yong nilagay ko sa ulo nya at himala gumaling.

RR-mas ok yan na punas punas lang kasi di naman madumi ang baby. Remember si Jacob non pinaliguan ng daddy kaya matagal gumaling yong pusod nya.

Oo nga...lalo at di naman mainit. At lalo dito whre temps are near freezing...punas-punas lang especially that di pa humihilom yung sugat nya. you can wash his head though, but every other day

Oopps sorry, got confused on the day. I didnt realize that christmas will be on this week hehe. Maybe I'm not ready for the holiday yet.

Lol...is ok. My MIL is arriving Christmas day kaya abala din ako preparing for her stay. She'll babysit Alec while we are at the hospital and will be staying till the New Year. Would be interesting kasi sabi ni hubby, baka sya mag-take-over sa kusina ko pag-dating nya We'll see...

Umm...it's the Monday after Christmas

Had my last pre-natal today Went over admission procedures, the birth plan, etc. Still advised about going into labor before Monday...hopefully Maizy cooperates and waits till then But if she doesn't, everything is ready. I don't have much to do anymore but go in and out of the nursery and check on things...and recheck. Sigh...nakakainip lalo pag alam mong konting araw na lang. Am looking forward to Monday than to Christmas And am getting excited with the passing time

The staff at hubby's place of work threw me a little baby shower last Sunday at his place of work. Got a few pieces of clothing and packs upon packs of diapers and baby wipes...I think Maizy's first 2-3 months of diapers are covered already Was really very nice of them, going out of their way to do this for us...and I don't really know them other than that they work alongside my hubby.

ask ko lang...kasi kung umutot baby ko parang hubby ko loud and stinky and whats weird is that they have the very same smell of fart...kaya pag nasa work ang senior farter eh ang junior farter ang nagwawasik ng lagim dito sa bahay...ganun din ba babies nyo?

and kahapon ko lang naperfect ang pagpapaburp hehehehe...

Eve - Nagka-eczema din pala si Jacob. Just apply aquaphor while it's mild. Yong kay Evie it started as mild din at dumami. No'ng dumami na we applied 1% hydrocortisone tapos aquaphor. Ina-aplayan lang namin ng cortisone kung reddish at bumpy. Right now tina-try ko liguin si Eve ng oat meal bago maligo. One friend from the church ang nag-advice sa akin no'n kasi nagka eczema sya nong maliit pa sya at oat meal ginagamit ng mama nya. Also avoid Jacob scratching his skin, kasi yon ang nagti-trigger sa rashes. Sabi nga ang eczema is "the itch that rashes" and not "the rash that itches." Try mo muna aquaphor, mas effective sya kay sa petroleum jelly.

it just does. Especially in those with a family history of allergies and/or asthma. Hubby had some form of exertional asthma in highschool and has morning allergic rhinitis so that I am extra careful with choosing Maizy's diapers, wipes, laundry detergent, even her baby wash.

about breastfeeding...naku me and my hubby are laughing about it kasi para akong nagpaboob job kasi lumaki at nanigas boobs ko hehehehe parang may kung anong bato ang nilagay sa boobs ko...actually minsan masakit yung sucking pero tinitiis ko lang para mabusog lang sya...pero kahit kunti binibigyan ko sya ng formula para makatulog naman ako...

yesterday and today me and my hubby went fishing...my baby likes being in the car kasi nakakatulog sya or tumitingin-tingin...meron lang kaming napansin sa mata ng baby namin kasi maypagka blue ang dating pero di pa masyadong clear talaga kasi most of the time he sleeps...sabi ko sa hubby ko naku di ako nakipagsex sa iba ha nah...hehehehe kasi black eyes ako then sya eh brown eyes.

talking about eczema...ano ba yan paano ba yan nakukuha...? kasi nagkaganyan din baby ni riza di ba...sana naman di lumalala eczema nya eve.

about the blue eyes, sabi ng kapatid ko di raw pwede maging blue eyes unless pareho kayong may genes na blue eyes. hehe. sayang! ung asawa ko ung daddy nya blue eyes kaya lang di daw mamamana hehe.

Actually, all babies will have somewhat blue eyes at birth. Will take a few weeks before the real eye color comes out Hubby has blue eyes, mine are black, but my father's were grayish (the Spanish in him). Hubby is the only one amongst his siblings with blue eyes; theirs are brown, just like my MIL and her side of rthe family. So, we'll see what Maizy's will be

We're from Ohio but are planning a summer trip to Thibodaux, LA to visit with my grandpa-in-law Hubby calls it "home". So we are planning a summer trip home Also, my Stateside highschool classmates are planning a silver jubilee in New Orleans around that time

Eczema...saang state ka nga? Weather-related? My li'l 4-month-old nephew has a bit of that and his grandad (my uncle) told his mom to try Aquaphor on it or petroleum jelly...seems to work. May history ba ng allergies/asthma sa family mo or your hubby's? It may be related.

2:34 PM - The baby was delivered through normal delivery. He weighs 7.52 lbs and 20 1/2 inches long and we have another good news! He had his ultrasound and his kidneys are cleared :dance: He still needs to see his Urologist though to have his KUB to make sure that there is really no more liquids in his kidneys.

I didn't feel ANY pain at all because they gave me Epi first before Petocin. My husband was with me during the delivery Tapos during delivery eh they were wondering kung bakit ako nagpupush sabay tawa LOL! kasi naman ala akong nafeefeel na pain eh nagexpect pa naman ako ng worst pain ever tapos feeling ko tuloy di ako nanganak hehe. Pero salamat talaga dahil ayoko ng pain hehe

I am soooo thankful to God about this wonderful blessing. Sarap ng feeling lalo na ng nilagay nila sa tummy ko si baby just right after he came out of my tummy. Tapos ang linis nya pa. Akala ko nababalot cya ng maraming dugo pero nagtataka sila bat malinis baby ko pagkalabas nya lol! kasi kaunti langyung dumi tas nung dumating nurse na magpapaligo sa kanya eh napagkamalan nyang napaliguan na baby ko LOL! Nagbrebreastfeed ako at medyo masakit nga sa umpisa pero kailangan tiisin for baby

I am still here in the hosp. salamat at meron silang WIFI at may pinagkakaabalahan ako dito hehe. I can't post his pic yet kasi may mga certain sites na hindi inaallow ng hosp. na i-open including na dun yung photobucket so siguro when i get home na lang on Sat ko post .

Princess - Congrats din sa'yo! halos magkasing bigat din pala baby natin and tama ka it is all worthy kapag nahawakan mo na baby mo. Sana gumaling na agad yung tahi mo at ang cute ng baby mo ha!

Congrats!!! Didn't think you'd have a hard time kasi 5 cm ka na the day before. Nakakapagtaka lang na even at 6 cm di pa nag-start yung contractions mo till they gave you Pitocin.

Kaya di masyado "madumi" si baby kasi term ka na e. And I'm glad that his kidneys are fine

Kakatuwa naman...sunod-sunod ang mga birthday ng mga baby natin Abala ako preparing the house for my MIL's arrival on the 25th plus the last minute stuff for Maizy's arrival. Di pa nga ako nag-iimpake samantalang sinabihan na ako ni hubby 2 days ago. Kagagaling ko lang sa Wal-Mart today Ewan...feeling ko kasi mabait naman si Maizy and she'll stay put till the scheduled day
