  1. It's true. Nothing worse in the world than thinking, gosh, I must be the only one who struggles with this -- what a loser my friends back home would I th ink I was hearing the struggle this can be so yeah, it's really nice to read that someone understands all this too. It's comforting.

The wonderful thing about this thread, if there can be something wonderful about this topic, is finding that so many of us feel the same. We're all facing somewhat similar feelings and struggles. It feels very uniting.

    *hugs all around*

  2. Well, I have to say, i am reassured that I'm not the only one who failed the first time -- maybe I'll get a guy next time? well, i'm taking the test again at the same MVA and you know what I'm gonna do? I'm going to go and practice driving all around the area just so I know it like the back of my hand -- see if they can trip me up then!!!!

And Ashen, that's a BAD kitteh! very cute but very bad! My cat is way too fat, old and lazy for that kind of shenanigans My husband's cat would but she gets to go outside to rid her of her lunacy!

come to think of it...my first test..it was a women, i made her miss lunch, and she put me in tears and failed me......effing beatches

  3. Do NOT get stuck in it, Nev. For the love of god.

    :D

i gotta say, I have a couple of tops/dresses wtih side zips and when they're on, they look beautiful as it really gives a nice fit but they are a real PITA to get into and to zip up and get out of but... they really look lovely on almost all figures.

I know, I was trying to avoid the whole shopping experience, but I think I've learned my lesson, I'm going out this weekend to find a new one.

  4. Pffft! I just turned 40!!! And this is was my VERY first driving test and yes, I plan on going back ASAP to get it done -- I'll be the wiser next time, that's for sure -- I am a big baby when it comes to humiliation. i have another date scheduled but I'm going to try and find one that's sooner so I can just get this thing done. it's so awful, it's not like I didn't know what I was doing, it just didn't seem to make sense. Like I said, I'll be wary next time.

Thanks for the encouragement -- I'll just keep on plugging away. Good thing my husband was playing his patience cards today.

    ;)

  5. Ha! You got the refund!!!! GOOD job. God, I love t his story so much -- I laughed so hard when you told me last week. Same thing happended to me once right in the store and I just hung it back up and walked out I can imagine that they were wondering what the hell was going on in my change room with all the sounds of grunting and thrashing and such.

    Coolness.

    :D

So last week I decide to order this dress online - I have a wedding to go to at the end of the month and wanted something new. So I get it home, and its a zip up dress, and instead of waiting for my husband to perhaps come home and help me with it, I decide that I will try it on myself because I just can't wait! So I try it on, can't reach the zipper to do it up. So I decide take it off, zip it up and then try to put it back on, over my head. Well somehow the dress gets stuck at my shoulders, and my arms are completely stuck in this upright position. I couldn't move, I could just stand there and pathetically shimmy around a bit. My husband wasn't due home for another hour, so waiting for him wasn't going to work. Besides, I don't care how comfortable I am with him... I looked like a freaking moron trying to dive out of a dress that was only at my shoulders. Anyways, I keep trying to twist my out of it, I mean I was standing there in that position, for a good fifteen minutes and I believe my arms were starting to go numb... and I do remember my breaths getting shorter as well... but that could have been the anxiousness of being completely stuck in a dress and not quite knowing what to do. Finally I just twisted hard and I heard the worst possible sound I could have heard: "RIIIIP" yep... ripped that dress right from the zipper.

I was going to just fix it myself, and then I figured I could bring it to a seamstress, but I just said: "Ahh screw it!" and I threw it back into the bag, packaged it up, wrote a complaint: "Dress was ripped when it arrived! Fabric looks cheap!" and hoped that they would just give me a refund and not even suspect that an idiot tried to put it on the wrong way.

Today in my email... a letter from the store: "We're sorry the dress didn't work out for you" yea you can say that again! "Your credit card will be refunded... thank you for shopping with us"

    Thats my story. Bye now.

  6. *sigh*

Well, I'm here to vent. I took my very first road test this morning and failed it. Yep. I've been driving my car around for the past two months and I was feeling super confident and secure. I can parallel park, reverse back in and everything. Even my husband who is NOT an easy sell and a very harsh critic commended me on who good my driving is -- how safe he feels driving with me.

So today, take the test, do the field course no problem, park, reverse, 3 point turn, all good. We get out onto the highway and the trainer tells me to prepare to take a right hand turn. I see a right hand turn about 50feet or less from us but I'm not in the right lane and we get a red light, cars are stopped. So I assume she can't have meant that turn, must be the one past the lights. Um, no. It was that one. So, because we deviated off the course, it was an automatic disqualification, we had to pull into a parking lot so she could drive me back to the MVA.

Sucked so hard. What a crappy morning.

  7. Hey all... I've been here for 6 months and well, I can relate to a lot of stuff in this post as well. I don't feel like I've lost out or am losing out but I do mourn the life I used to have, my jobs, my ability to go about and do anything when i wanted. I miss the life I made for myself. Making a good one here is very slow going and a lot of work. The thing that keeps me here is my husband and my step daughter. Still yet? Everything is fraught with learning and failing and learning and growing -- sometimes I just want to sit back and not have to think so hard as to what my next step is, how I'll do this or that and such -- back in canada, I had all that stuff done an was happy and content -- I'm working hard to make myself happy and content here but there's a lot of work to be done.

And on that note, having to take the stupid driving test AGAIN as I failed it this morning. My first driving test ever and I failed it. So, there's some more ####### to have to slog through. In canada, where I lived, I had no need or desire of a car or to drive. Making my way here. Lots of work, all the time, ever day. My reward? My relationship is good and it too is work now that I'm in the midst of it every day. worth it, however.

  8. You're hilarious these days, Flames!!

Chin up Ashen, it all works out at some point -- your run of bad luck has got to end soon. We all have rough patches -- hope it picks up for you guys.

On a positive note---ur a lot luckier than that squirrel!! Hope it all works out for the best!

  9. Ha! Okay, I got it now! When I first read it I was like, geez, did poor flames have a stroke or something!

    ;)

  10. I am SO gonna go and see this!!! Those mother-bleeping- turkeys!!!

    you okay there, Flames????

    ;)

    Ge the gimp!!!!

  11. Oh my god! I am doing this right now! well, i'm on a break from the sun at the moment. I mowed the lawn at like 9am and it almost killed me and now I'm weeding the ####### patch at the front of the house. It's hard work and it's like almost 95 here today -- I am wearing black cotton yoga pants and the sweat stains on the front look like I've peed my pants. I don't care. i am covered in grass, dirt and sweat but I'm going to make it look like we're not white trash today!

    :D

PS I thought I would do all this in lieu of my run today but I swear I am sweating way more doing this.

    Plus I'm dirty.

I would love to know why I thought it was a good idea to work in the garden when it's about a billion percent humidity outside. At least it looks pretty. <_<

  12. LOL!!!!!!

    :D

I wish the cleaning lady would just stick to cleaning in the mornings and not talk to me.

    For real.

I have complained about this before, but I don't care about her son, or his girlfriend(s), or what he does... I don't care.

She's babbling on while I type this... she has no idea... she's standing there going on and on about her son, oh wait now she's going on about working and doing more than your share of work... or something like that... I'm really trying to tune her out here.

Do I look like I'm someone who cares? I don't.

I come in to work early to have my coffee and enjoy the silence.

    Shut. Up. Holy. #######.

  13. Woohoooo! yay to you nevada! See? you totally rock.

i too would also like a unicorn sammich? Mayo, lettuce and pickles please. Thanks.

and Huggles? #######, regarding your office mate. OH my goodness -- it sounds like a nightmare only to get worse. Keep us posted, will ya?

If not then heeeey theeeere new person, yes zombie spiders would be terrifying.

    :D

But what about zombie spiders? :jest:

  15. Thanks guys! I know right, flames... another illigal Canadian! But i just figure with all the reasons to bypass someone, this would be a biggie. So in my C.V. I put a small addendum on the bottom saying that i am able to work in the US, no sponsorship required. Same with my cover letters. Then this way they're not, "oh damn, no idea what to do with this one, buh bye....

    :)

    Thanks again...

    LGG

  16. state on your resume or cover letter that you're able to work in the US? I mean if someone looks at your resume and such and sees all jobs and education are foreign, wouldn't they put that resume at the bottom of the stack?

i'm thinking of stating that I can work in the US. What are you all doing?

    Thanks and good luck...

    LGG

  17. to get my resume ready in earnest and I was wondering -- all of my jobs and education are all Canadian based so, I was thinking that at the bottom of my resume of putting, "Fully accredited to work within the USA."

What do you think of that? I just think that when they look at my Canadian-centric based resume they'd wonder and thus, just slip to the bottom of the pile?

    Thanks all.

  18. Ew. Sorry to hear that. Is that legal? I have no idea how it is here in the US. In Ontario, it's a 60 day minimum unless both parties agree.

Sorry about that, Rob... hope you can get your stuff and selves together in time.

    :)

Well, as it turns out, my landlord is as big of an ahole as I thought. After I gave him 60 days notice, he calls back and tells me I better make that 30. Our lease was up in October 09, and we've been living month to month terms since then. This ought to be interesting getting my security deposit back.

  19. Awwww... sweet post kimbear -- happy to hear that. It's nice, huh?

    :)

I just want to say how nice it is to wake up in your first real home with just your husband and your pups, and have privacy, and be able to be yourself, and get sleep etc etc. :) I am finally feeling content and have nothing to ###### about..that is a first! lol

  20. Awww... poor pup! COngrats on getting the new place -- that must be SUCH a relief and at least there are fireworks like maybe twice a year! :)

Congrats on the new car, Huggles! What did you end up getting? Is it brand new? What colour is it? Hope I'm not being too nosy -- Just curious as I just bought my first car and now I'm all excited about cars and stuff. :) My car is not new at all and not the colour that I would have chosen but it's pretty nice and I'm totally happy with it.

    :)

    Ohh GRATS Huggles!!!

So this weekend in the new apartment, we saw tons of fireworks from all the diff parks. However my dog lex had panic attacks, due to the noise bouncing off the buildings :( He ended up in mommy's lap a few times and on the couch hiding under a blanket. Poor thing. he does this with thunderstorms too now. And for once we had a solid week with NO RAIN..none nada zip whatsoever..omg thought i'd never see summer!! lol :)

  21. Hey Sprails,

My sister in B.C. saw us!!!! She PVRed it. That's too hilarious. I would like to NOT see it.

    :)

I don't know if any of you Canadians saw but lgg and I were on CTV last night! :D

They interviewed us at the embassy because we were so festive! :P

It really was fun and we went to Virginia afterwards for some poutine - which really was the crappiest version we ever had but it we still ate it.
