The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'.
They went on to complete the marathon together.
Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together.
One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.'
To which, his father said 'Yes' too.
For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever.
The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike

The Mayonnaise Jar and the Beer
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the beer...
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, ordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the class if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.
He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He asked the students again if the jar was full. They said yes.
The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up the rest of the space. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students said yes once more.
The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and poured the entire contents of both cans into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things, your family, your children, your health, your friends, your favorite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car.
The sand is everything else---the small stuff.
If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your spouse out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house, and fix the sink.
Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. "The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented.
The professor smiled "I'm glad you asked, it just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers."

IT’S ALL ABOUT HOPE
What does Resurrection Sunday mean to you?
A big sigh perhaps? After the long vacation it’s back to work tomorrow?
There’s a sign in a San Francisco wholesale florist shop that says:
“If you don’t believe in the resurrection of the dead, you ought to be here five minutes before quitting time!”
Maybe it has brought a smile on your face as you really spent quality time with your family. And it’s a good thing. It’s memory creation and you cannot put a price tag on it.
Resurrection or Easter Sunday means something else to me but first let me tell you a couple of old funny stories and materials taken from that wonderful book entitled: Illustrations Unlimited.
You may remember the story of the long and rough Atlantic crossing where the seasick passenger was leaning over the rail of the ocean liner and had turned several shades of green. A steward came along and tried to cheer him up by saying, “Don’t be discouraged, sir! You know, no one’s ever died of seasickness yet!” The nauseated passenger looked up at the steward with baleful eyes and replied, “Oh, don’t say that! It’s only the hope of dying that’s kept me alive this long!”
It’s not exactly the right kind of hope this passenger is talking about.
Here is another story.
A man in his middle years was on a Caribbean cruise. On the first day out he noticed an attractive woman about his age who smiled at him in a friendly way as he passed her on the deck, which pleased him. That night he managed to get seated at the same table with her for dinner. As the conversation developed, he commented that he had seen her on the deck that day and he had appreciated her friendly smile. When she heard this she smiled and commented, “Well, the reason I smiled was that when I saw you I was immediately struck by your strong resemblance to my third husband.”
At this he perked up his ears and said, “Oh, how many times have you been married?”
She looked down at her plate, smiled demurely, and answered, “Twice.”
Now that’s an optimistic sense of hope.
Resurrection Sunday is a message of hope.
Psychologist William Marston asked three thousand people, “What have you to live for?” He was shocked to discover that 94 percent were simply enduring the present while they waited for the future–waited for something to happen–waited for “next year” –waited for a “better time” –waited for “someone to die” –waited “for tomorrow,” unable to see that all anyone ever has is today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow exists only in hope.
A lot of people do not understand the power of hope and a lot of people are living in a state of despair. Thornton Wilder says: “Hope is a projection of the imagination; so is despair. Despair all too readily embraces the ills it foresees; hope is an energy and arouses the mind to explore every possibility to combat them– In response to hope the imagination is aroused to picture every possible issue, to try every door, to fit together even the most heterogeneous pieces in the puzzle. After the solution has been found it is difficult to recall the steps taken–so many of them are just below the level of consciousness.
Someone came up with the 7 Characteristics of Hope:
Hope lights a candle instead of cursing the darkness.
Hope opens doors where despair closes them.
Hope looks for the good in people instead of harping on the worst in them.
Hope discovers what can be done instead of grumbling about what cannot be done.
Hope draws its power from a deep trust in God and the basic goodness of mankind.
Hope regards problems, small or large, as chances to discover new blessings.
Hope cherishes no illusions, nor does it yield to cynicism.
The empty tomb is the great message of hope. Death has been conquered and when faith is place on the death Conqueror then life is found.
Resurrection Sunday reminds us that God has the last word.
So don’t give up hope.

I received my noa(i-797c) for adjustment of status last jan. 09,2009. Until this present day i didn't receive any other mails or updates. Is it really this long for some applicants like me to have a schedule for biometrics and fingering? I'd read timelines of other applicants here in vj and it seems they had an early schedules. Any ideas for the delay?
Can anyone share an advice on what to do?
Thanks!

Hi everyone. Me and my husband is about to file for AOS and we have a small question- What is I-94 and how can I get the I-94? This is one of the requirement to adjust status. I appreciate any help or answers I can get. Thank you and God bless:)
The I-94 is issued to you during your flight to US by a stewardess. You have to fill up the form and the immigration at poe will then check and stamp it with your date of arrival. Then they will staple this to your passport beside your us visa.

what i did was i went to the public health clinic and brought with me the copy of my vaccination record from slec..i was given the 2nd doses of the vaccines that i had in PI..in fact it was the public health nurse there, after reading my vaccination record, who decided that i should have all the 2nd shots..then i took the copy to a uscis designated civil surgeon who then transcribed it to the I-693...
I went too to the public health hospital and brought with me my med'l. record and it seems the nurse can,t decide which shots I'll have. So I decided not to have one by then.
i think that the incomplete ones are the ones that you will have...i was vaccinated for MMR,Tdap and varicella again to complete the requirements..the nurse was a filipina too so she kept me informed about everything..
All I remembered from St. Luke's was, I have one shot needed and maybe!!!! it's the tdap. Do I have to let a civil surgeon transcribe my I-693 even though my vaccination is complete?.........thanks

Claudeth had to have a tetanus shot because they didn't have it at St. Lukes.
Is this the Tdap? A checked mark was on my med'l.document and designated at the insufficient time interval and dated during my med'l. exam.
I hope this shot is what i need and which most of us lacks in the exams. in St Lukes.

I am preparing for my application of aos here in US. I had a problem with my vaccination requirement or I would say I forgot what immunization I needed, due to lack of sleep and too much fatigue during my medical exams. at St. luke's. I wasn't able to listen carefully to the doc. or nurse who administered the immunization. I only needed one immunization to complete here in the US and since I have 3 unchecked vaccine from my document worksheet given by St. Lukes (Measles-Rubella, Mumps-Rubella and Human Papillomavirus). Is it ok that I mail my papers and just wait until i will receive an rfe? Since the US immigration received our packets with our medical reports on it and they know which immunization will be administered to me later. Will this suggestion on my part be a good move in applying for an aos? Pls. share some options or ideas on what I'll do... thanks!

Oh, Gosh i really want to eat Itlog na maalat... Sadly, i can't find any site who sell and deliver Salted Egg. I am in Lexington Kentucky and i just found a Philippine Store from Texas pinoygrocery.com who offers delivery but they dont have that salted egg. Do you know any site who sell and deliver salted egg? Thanks!
U r funny
But i can see how this is posted under this thread, hehehe... the salted egg really helps make food taste yummier and hmm "basic", as in bringing us back home.. The filipino salted egg is like already pre-boiled and the shell is coloured pink, di ba? The ones we have in Malaysia is sold with black mud covering the shell (i think that whats make it saltier than the filipino version), and ud need to wash off the mud and then boil it.
Try your local chinese sari-sari stores/mini market/grocery. They should have it i think..
All the best!
Hi! I think the filipino way of making salted eggs is just the same way as is in Malaysia. There is a process or part where the eggs have to be covered. with soil, but not an ordinary soil but with a soil that comes from termite house coz, it's more sticky. For a couple of days' the soil will be washed off and the egg will be boiled then will be placed on a hot water with color red.. When the egg cools off' it's ready for the market .
All the best!

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.
"What food might this contain"? the mouse wondered...he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning.
There is a mousetrap in the house!
There is a mousetrap in the house!
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you,
but it is of no consequence to me. I can not be bothered by it."
The mouse turned to the pig and told him,
there is a mousetrap in the house!
There is a mousetrap in the house!
The pig sympathized, but said, I am so very sorry, Mr mouse,
but there is nothing i can do about it but pray.
Be assured you are in my prayers.
The mouse turned to the cow and said,
There is a mousetrap in the house!
The cow said, "wow Mr. mouse, I'm sorry for you, but it is no skin off my nose.
So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap....alone.
That very night a sound was heard throughout the house...like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.
The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake
whose tail the trap had caught.
The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital and she returned home with a fever.
Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup. So the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard
for the soups main ingredient.
But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock.
To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.
The farmer's wife did not get well; she died.
So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.
So, the next time we hear someone who's having a problem and think that it doesn't concern us,
remember--- when any one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. We are all involved in this journey
called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.
TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER HELPED US OUT, WE LET THEM KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE.
REMEMBER....EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY.... OUR LIVES OUR WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON....

I received my visa this morning but suppose to be it must had been yesterday, but due to the typhoon rains the delivery man wasn't able to. I asked the delbros man why there were errors in there text replies and there websites shipment tracking information, all he said was computer errors. Somehow, I kept on texting them everyday and maybe they were tired of receiving such messages and was obliged to always check there data's. The delivery man told me the embassy released my visa last Nov. 4 and showed me his list. Maybe they have to collect other visas which will be delivered on the same route so it took more days to be received by us applicants.
My sincere thanks to everybody (vj family).

Is delbros telling the truth or just guessing or lying? Last Nov. 7 I inquired through text for my visa and the reply was "mnl... was released by the embassy and be delivered to you asap". This day Nov. 10 I follow- up my inquiry for my visa and the reply was "pls. disregard the tx you received that your visa was released by the embassy". I was so happy for the first message that finally and a few days from now, i'll be receiving my visa. But that excitement was paused, i just don't believed how delbros deals with us. They don't check twice or thrice there data before giving false or true informations. I hope nobody else from here encountered this experience of mine.
That is not very nice. Were you not under AR? When was your interview date?
No, i wasn't under ar.Sept.29 was my interview date and had submitted the requirement needed from the white slip. If delbros wasn't sure of what to text back they must first double check there data coz' me and family circle was in high hope of me receiving the visa. Tuloy lahat nalungkot.....But still hoping there will be a good news.

Check this website for your guide and just print the application form.

You have to send your application to Taipei City Police Department, It covers the whole of Taiwan. I worked in Chungli before and my application was addressed in Taipei.

What's the difference too from PRISM and SMEF-COW? Do we have to select from these 2 agencies to attend the seminar?
-
After the interview she will receive the white slip and her passport. Then she will be required to submit the police clearance and so with her passport and her visa then will be processed.

WIFE VS HUSBAND....
A couple drove down to a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position.
As they pass a barnyard of mules, goats and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "relative of yours?","Yup" the wife replied,.."in laws".

Oh no I heard that index finger scanning is done after the interview with the consul and the consul didnt let me. oh no..... what will happen now? please help...
The fingerprint scan is done after the pre-screening. No need for another scan in the CO's room during the interview itself. If in case you didn't go through the fingerprint scanning process, I suggest you call the US Embassy.
It's either before or after. My daughter was interviewed first {way back 2007}, then she was fingerprint scanned but then they have changed there routine. Now, it is before you report to the pre-screener. Call usem!!!!

Bring with you all the necessary important documents and don't worry.
I got lucky, because just as my name was called the consul was smiling and said to us that we were a fine couple.
He assured us at once before the interview that i'll get my green card but first he checked all my documents and asked little about us.
One thing that help us a lot too was having a daughter.
Then he just let me signed the papers and said i'll receive my gcard less than 8 weeks...
He advised me to do the next step, 3 mo. b4 2 years to apply for a 10yr gcard and or 3 years after i can apply for u.s. citizenship.
