    I'm a "Degree 4" on this scale.
I think it's fair to say I've never had faith, as far back as I can remember. My parents enrolled me in Talmud Torah day schools and after my Bar Mitzvah I was quite observant for several years - from about 13 to 16. I kept kashrut and Shabbat strictly, davened daily and was externally frum to all appearances though internally did not believe in any of it. I was miserable. I kept thinking I'd "find" faith by observing the rituals. It was never there to be found, for me. I slowly stopped observances and have been a happy and content atheist ever since.

scandal reacted to Saddle Bronc in Is the US Declaration of Independence illegal?
As answer: Given that Americans were already in a state of rebellion as of 1775/12/31, it's unlikely they expected that Britain would take that Declaration as binding/legal. In 1781, Britain had no choice but to accept it as fact--after their top general, Cornwallis, got clobbered at Yorktown. Britain (which still had delusional George III on throne) DID try reversing it 1812-1814 in retaliation for tiny President Madison's failed attempt to evict them from the REST of North America--and got a SECOND clobbering at Baltimore, which sealed the issue forever.
Anyway, the US saved Britain's butt twice (1918 and 1945) in 20TH century--demolishing any locus-standi it imagined having about the Declaration's legality!

Something doesn't add up. Have you been able to determine you are the biological father ? Have you had a DNA test to make sure ? Why wouldn't she show you the baby on cam ? Is there some reason why she would want to hold on to you ? Are you that special ? There is something missing from this equation because none of this makes sense.

Silly boy, I follow HIM and no one else. You comments are irrelevant, as are you. You amaze me, your version of "Islam" is practiced by the lunatic fringe, yet you continue to do it. Do you realize what that makes you? All you ever do is badmouth ANYONE who disagrees with you. Calling me a hypocrite, using an Islamic term is cute, real cute. Ad hominem attacks? PULEEEZE, you never do that, EVER.

First of all I never claimed to be anything. I am a child of GOD, period. Now the proper Muslim term of respect is Muhammad (PBUH) or Muhammad (s.a.a.w) and the proper Muslim term of respect for Jesus Christ is (PBUH) you should know that as a Muslim, but what do I know. I don't normally deflect criticism by trying to point out other's wrongs, that your technique. The Crusaders were azzholes and Idi Amin was good, pious Muslim, whatever. As for faith, this is VJ not your personal Dawah forum. If you want to preach your own warped version of Islam, do it in front of the local transit terminal like you normally do. The best way to deal with the kufarun, as you like to call them, is to be a better person. Instead of being a good person like a Muslim is supposed to be, you come across like some vengeful, hot-headed maniac who twists everything to such a perverse extent that not only is the point lost but then EVERYONE think all Muslims are psycho. NOW THAT'S HYPOCRISY.

This was in the OP. I don't know how anyone can read something like this and not be somehow affected, not feel just a little sick to their stomach. Maybe this might be a thread to just show a little human compassion, or if not - just pass it by and not post? But not on this forum. No, here every bit of human misery is just another excuse for another slag-match thread, ####### for tat, blah blah blah. Carry on.

It's fairly apparent that no one who responded on this thread actually read David Frum's piece in the OP. I can't say that I read every article posted here, that's for sure. But if I post in a thread I usually like to at least know what the thread is about, no?
The topic is abortion, yes. But it's actually a comparison to the temperance movement, the passionate debates of a century ago between 'wets' and 'drys', and the similarities between the effects of the 'drys' on politicians and politics of that era and the anti-abortion movements of today.
    It's worth reading, imho.
And, here is the comparison to abortion politics in the GOP today:
And, some thoughts on the fate of abortion politics ...
Curious? Scroll to the top and read it

I thought you were the guy who doesn't have health insurance, thinks it's not necessary, and doesn't understand why mawilson and others claim they'll be paying for YOUR healthcare costs due to your lack of insurance.
But now you're telling us that YOU are paying for others health care.

Someone posted a story about her husband being in the US and them getting married after his VWP visa had expired. He got himself into some trouble with the law, and was currently under arrest for drunk and disorderly conduct.
Several people (myself included) were banned from that thread by one of the moderators because we were being judgmental. Seems like the moderator is being judgmental too.
I think if you read the discussion (I can't access it otherwise I'd provide a link), it's clear the OP would benefit from some honest feedback on the entirety of the situation. If we get to a point where no one can offer critical comments, someone asking questions is quite possibly going to be in a situation where they have no clue whatsoever how it comes across in the real world.
I can see moderating out specific insults or threats (but there weren't any), but a dose of reality administered to a poster who seems to be in desperate need of it is no grounds for moderation.

LOL. Thanks for proving my point "Charles!"
If you guys can't stand any public discussion about your arbitrary moderating practices, perhaps you should shut down all commenting on this site and just have it be a timeline tracker. I realize that petty power trips are often comforting to those with no life, but it's annoying when an otherwise useful internet resource is taken over by such clowns.
