At my interview several years ago, they asked which language we communicated in and the beginning of the interview was in English. The interviewer asked which language my husband wanted to be interviewed in he responded Spanish. I do not speak Spanish so she switched back to English to give us the good news. Don't worry this wasn't a big deal.

My husband received his interview letter today. It was dated June 4, 2012. His interview is scheduled for July 9, 2012 in Raleigh NC.

As WrightFamily said, "front loading" seems to be the trend. If you can, try to send some evidence from before & since the wedding as well. Keep in mind that you are basically proving that you did not go into marriage for the purpose of immigration. I know with some religions it isn't customary to have a courtship before marriage, but proof you met and spent time together before the actual wedding day would be helpful for your petition. I sent a small book went I sent in my I-130. I couldn't believe how big it was when I saw it again at the interview. When I submit paper work now I just send the basics (tax returns, bank statements, car notes etc) but nothing in excess.

Just curious if anyone out there has some experience with Peru? Information on wait times? I know this embassy deals with Visa's from various South American Countries so the wait times can be a little longer. Anyone have any good info on what to expect once I get my interview at this embassy?

Check my info below for my timeline. What will happen at the interview depends on a lot of factors such as age of couple, circumstances of the relationship, and visa. My husbands interview was very easy although I had a ton of proof and our case was not complicated. They interviewed him in spanish. Asking him basic questions. The only things they asked me were about my employment, why my family was not at the wedding, and for my taxes (our interview was in March so they wanted that years taxes even though they were not due yet). They told us he was approved and we asked to pick up our visa at DHL. We picked it up the next day.

Just want to know.. If there are any other members that are December I-130 Filers From Peru? Any Updates? How long does it usuaaly take for people from Peru? Any Experiences would be Greatly Appreciated...

I just mailed in my husband's N-400 today. Our Field office is Raleigh, NC and we sent our forms to the USCIS Dallas/Lewisville, Texas Lockbox. Looking forward to finally getting citizenship for my spouse!!

I am filling out paper work for my husbands naturalization. I am working on question 8 part b where it asks for my last name. Do I put my maiden name or my current married name? I filled for the initial visa with my maiden name and once my husband got to the United States I changed it to my husbands name.

Unfortunately this is common for the Lima Embassy. Contact jm&mcs. They had a similar experience about 5 years ago. He is about 20 years younger than her and they gave them a terribly hard time at the interview. Lucky she was there with him and they just stuck to their guns and eventually walked away with the visa. As far as I know they are still happily married.
If I was in your shoes I would bring proof my mother's illness. Perhaps a letter from her doctor stating she needs personal care. Letters from family and friends. The fact that you have not seen each other in 18 months compounds the age issue. When you go in there have everything with you to prove your marriage is real: phone records, letters, pictures, affidavits, receipts for sending funds to him. You have to prove that even though you have not seen each other in 18 months that you are still very much a couple. You will both be taken two separate rooms where they will grill you. Make sure your prepared because they will try to break you.

During my visa interview a couple of years ago, my husband and I saw them interviewing the people for the tourist visa. They take a bunch (maybe 5) in a room and spend about 30 seconds looking at their documents. Like everyone said it's hard to know if you have enough proof that they will return to Peru. All you can do is try.

We requested to pick up my husbands visa at the DHL office. I think it took 2 days. So if your in a hurry you could ask about that.

Full-brothers = both parents in common
Half-brothers = one parent in common
Step-brothers = no parents in common
Step-brothers do not have a parent in common. Their birth certificates would list different mothers and fathers. A marriage between their parents creates the step-brother relationship. No marriage = no step-brother relationship.

My husbands half-brother (same father) can apply as well? The half brother parents were never married. -
The parent's marriage certificate is not necessary. It doesn't help establish that your husband and brother are actually brothers. Their birth certificates showing a common parent establishes their sibling relationship. What he needs are his birth certificate and the birth certificate of the brother he is petitioning for.
So why can we not petition a step-brother whose mother was not married to my husband's father? Sorry not sure I am following. If the marriage certificate is not important then won't the stepbrother's birth certificate and my husbands birth certificate be sufficient?

Hi all! My husband is applying for his American citizenship in January. We are taking a trip to Peru in a month and need to get all the original documents we would need for this process while there. My husband has 7 brothers and one step brother. So we are looking at a variety of scenarios. It's just easier to get everything at once. We are not applying for visas for all of them (probably only one or two) but want to understand the process. Is their a limit to how many people we can apply for or is it only based on income? Do we need the marriage certificate of my husband's parents? For those of you who are ten years into the visa process, do you have any tips or anything I need to be thinking about?

If the parents were never married then that would make it rather tough to produce a marriage certificate, wouldn't it? Birth certificates may be enough if they clearly establish that both siblings have at least one biological parent in common, but it depends very much on how reliable a birth certificate is as evidence in that particular country. In many countries, getting a false birth certificate issued by the local government is as easy as putting some cash on the table. A DNA test may be requested to confirm their biological relationship.
I meant would my husband need a marriage certificate for his parents for the visa application for his full blooded brothers.

5. What is the current waiting time for Peru? 10 years or more?
6. What documents will we need? I think I need my husband's and immigrating brother-in-law's birthcertificate. Do we need their parent's marriage certificate?
Sorry for all the questions, but I was unable to find the answers anywhere else.

My husband got that letter for when he applied for school, but for some reason it took about 6 months to get. Good thing he applied early!

Thanks for the info. I have actually been to Peru about 7 times, so I am pretty familiar with booking online and how to find savings. Recently some friends of mine have done international traveling and used a travel agent and were able to get fares that are not published on the internet which saved them several hundred dollars. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good travel agent. Worth a look!
Did you take the bus on your trips throughout Peru? Which company do you recommend?
