  1. What things should I know about the K-1 visa for Perú? Are co-sponsors allowed? What are the approval/denial rate? What things hurt the approval? I haven't started the timeline yet, but what papers do I take to have her fill out? Do education factor into the visa? I just want to know what things could possible effect our chances of approval.

  2. I was looking at the approval for the K-1 visa for Perú and I noticed it was pretty much 100%, seeing that gave me lots of hope. I was wondering though, will someone sponsering her for me effect the visa approval at all? What papers should I take with me when I go visit her so that she can sign and I don't need to mail. What things effect the chances of approval? Does age? I am 18 and she is 22, but I will be 19 by the time I visit her. Thanks for all those who answer.

No one is going to be sponsoring her for you, as YOU are the primary sponsor. Someone will be CO-sponsoring for you though, assuming that's what you meant (that you are getting a co-sponsor).

If so, you need to make sure the US embassy in Peru allows co-sponsors. If they allow co-sponsors, and your co-sponsor meets the financial requirements then you will be fine.

In order for us to answer your questions about what papers you need to take with you when you go visit her, you need to fill in your timeline so we know where you are in the process.

No, you have no problems whatsoever with you being 19 and your fiance being 22. If you were 19 and your fiance was like 65 then obviously that would raise some red flags.

Yeah, I meant co-sponsor. I haven't actually started the timeline yet, but someone told me there is a paper I should take with me and have her sign so it helps the process.

  4. Your joint-sponsor needs to be a USC. You will need to sponsor her regardless of your employment... if you don't meet the requrements then you will need to get a joint-sponsor that will fill out all the same documents and supply all supporting evidence that you do. What you're trying to do is insure that she will not become a public charge on the U.S. ... so it must be a USC.

A spousal visa to the U.S. is not going to be any quicker unless you've resided in that Country legally for some time and can file directly with the Consulate there. Marrying someone abroad does not mean you can just bring them to the US..otherwise we'd all be doing it. ;) K1 is your fastest route right now.

Well, I didn't want my parents to know since I'm young they wouldn't be very happy. What am I supposed to do cause I am going to be in college soon so I won't be able to have a good paying job to support her but she would be able to live with me. I don't know anyone over here who would sponser me cause I'm young and they will tell me it is too early to do this. It looks like my parents may find out if I will be getting some paperwork back but I don't know if they will sponser her. And can you please explain the guidelines in simple terms.

I will try to clear some things up. I'm 18 and I will be 19 by the time we try to get married and she is in her 20's. I will be going into college soon so I will not be able to get a great job to be able to support us. My parents don't know about her yet but I will tell them when I go to visit her and I'm not sure if the would be fine with me getting married at my age. What are my options?:

  5. You only have a short amount of time to edit your posts.

Here is the flowchart so you can see how it works. Your best bet is to go over the K1 Guide step by step and just be sure you have everything included.

We would probably be getting married in her country but I didn't really want my parents to know about this since I'm young they probably wouldn't be too happy. But would her parents be able to sponser us or would it have to be someone I get? I will be meeting her soon and I will keep the passport stamps and I will take pictures.

  6. First, welcome to VJ! :)

Second of all....that is not crazy AT ALL! There are hundreds of us on this amazing website who met the same way as you did...including me! I met my soon to be husband on an online video game!

It's not unusual and infact, getting to be pretty common.

First you should start with the Guides here on VJ...

Begin at the top where it says "BEGIN HERE" in red letters. ;) Read the differences between the different visas available to see what would be the best fit for you and your love.

Have you two met in person within the last two years? That is a requirement.

Then there are guidelines for each type of visa...the K1 which is a fiance visa, K3 or CR-1 visas which are spousal meaning you are already married.

The K1 is probably the best fit for you and the K1 Guideline is very easy to follow, just read and follow what it says. There is also a K1 Flowchart that shows you step by step what to expect.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask...you have honestly found one of the best resources on the net about Fiance/Spousal visas.

    Best of luck!

I met her on a game aswell. We would probably be getting married in her country but I didn't really want my parents to know about this since I'm young they probably wouldn't be too happy. But would her parents be able to sponser us or would it have to be someone I get? I will be meeting her soon and I will keep the passport stamps and I will take pictures.

  7. Now I know this might sound crazy but I met a girl online who I love very, very much. I have known her for a while now and I have talked to her almost everyday for hours and I have never been happier. The thing is she lives in another country and I want her to be over here with me. I want to be with this girl and I know I'm a bit young but I would love to be with this girl forever. Now I heard that you need to have income tax and properties to get married and I don't have any of those yet cause I'm still young and about to start college. Is there any possible way around this? I really hope there is cause I want to be with her so bad. If you need anymore information to help me work this out that isn't too private feel free to ask.
