  1. I had bad experiences bringing a fiance here to the usa and also a fiance that i married. I am going to move to cebu and live there for a year. Are there any people here from cebu or living in cebu? I would like to know what I can get an apartment for. My girlfriend in Cebu says we can get one for 5,000 pesos. My problem with her is that she doesnt speak much english. So you may ask why the heck I would move there. Well thats my problem. I am going to teach her english when I get there. What would I expect to pay for food for one month? I am talking about going cheap. I dont think its easy for an American to get a job there. I understand after you are married, that it would be easier and not require a work permit. I understand the pay is much less in the Philippines. I dont have a lot of money, but Im working and saving to take enough money to live there until I get a job. Ya im crazy, so what. So if anyone from Cebu would like to throw in any advice about getting an apartment etc. ok thanks

    Food will be cheap there...no worries....as long as you don't go out and eat out everyday :lol: As for jobs, maybe you can start a business? Anyways...God bless on your decision and good luck !!

  2. Since I'm snowed in today I'm going to tackle our game room. It's a mess! :blink: There's ps2 and wii games out of their cases just laying around, wires everywhere, the gaming systems are on the floor since I have no space for them in my tv cabinet because that's chalk full of old vcr tapes and dvd's. Then there's the microphone for the kareoke game, the guitar hero guitar, the numchucks and controllers..... :help:

    Do any of you have an organized game room? In this day and age there must be a system out there which can contain all of these items and more right? I googled it but can't see anything like that.

    Mmmm

    VCR tapes: either trade them to Rasputin records for cash or sell through craigslist :lol:

    I recommend the container store..you might find a trunk or crates for all those accessories...the ps2 and wii should be easy to place since those take up a small space.

  3. Claudeth starts driver training in nine hours :blink:

    Mmmm you should have let her do the driver's training in the Philippines...after that driving here should be easy :lol:

    I'm from Sacramento. I took my road test at DMV Carmichael branch last Nov 18. It just took me like maybe 10 minutes. The instructor didn't asked me to do anything. No parallel parking, no 3 points turn. I just drove around the dmv area. She just told me to make a complete stop on the "stop sign" and scanned the intersection before turning left or right.

    Evelyn

    Wow :blink: ... I think that's probably the most easiest driving test I've heard off ^^;;

  4. This is what happened to me and a few minutes later I get an email that said APPROVED!

    So keep an eye on that!

    That is a sign of good things to come!

    You were right! Oh, my god. Oh, my god.

    I just checked my email and that touch we got yesterday was someone approving our petition! We're approved! I am SO floored, I can't believe it!

    ..My fiance isn't answering my frantic IMs because he's busy with work, but.. hopefully, he'll see me freaking out and respond to me! Haha.

    Congrats !! :thumbs:

  5. Mmm some people should be happy to see that democracy is at work....Let me see this guy live in the Philippines and hear and experience the daily news of government corruption, people being killed for their opinions, the politicians turning a blind eye to the poor. I got a coworker that hates Pres Obama and he just into day 1. -_-

  6. Thanks for the replies. I'll be taking the test in sacramento so not sure how tough they are here?

    My wife says I've already perfected the californian stop - the one where you kind of roll of to the stop line half think about stopping but don't! And my foot can be a little heavy, 25 just seems so slow. I'll have to try hard to be on my best behaviour for the test!!

    Guess I'll also have to practice my parking just in case.

    Ah hehe...yes the california stop...can't remember how many tickets I've been issued for that all these years -_- but yes just make sure you do complete stops....the person administering it may stop the test and fail you on the spot...as for the speed limit...just drive maybe a bit lower than the posted limit...just check your speed once in awhile during the test. Not sure about Sacramento dmv so sorries ^^;;

  7. I have heard that in some cases the IO says after the interview that we can't take a decision about the approval yet and you will be notified in mail later. And then people wait for months and hear nothing from the uscis. This has happened to atleast 1 person I know and his fault was that he didn't notify the uscis of his change in addresses during the last few years. I didn't do so either, and now I am worried that I might have to go through the same thing. Anybody has more info regarding this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Well the IO will give you a white sheet with the pending decision checked over and it states that to allow around 4 months (I think) for them to decide on your citizenship. If it goes over the number of months you can call them or set up an infopass to follow it up. IMHO, a change of address is not that big of a deal but you might have to check on other immigration forums and see if someone also has that similar situation.

  8. Hello, so finally I've managed to get my driving permit (the lady at the DMV didn't even look at my EAD and didn't seem to care that my I-94 had expired months ago! so who knows?!).

    Just wondering if anyone out there has taken their test in CA and give me any tips on what to expect. Its been *ah-hum* a few years :whistle: since I took my driving test in the UK and have probably fallen into some bad habits. I'll definitely have to try my hardest to stop at stop signs! not speed!! and it still seems unnatural to turn right on a red light.

    I'm mainly interested in knowing whether their are any manouvers involved in the test because I really can't parallel park for s**t and might need to practice my 3 point turn!

    Thanks

    Hi,

    Just wondering where in Cali are you taking your test?? some places would be more harder (depending on the location of the dmv). Just remember...full stop on stop signs, you can turn right on a red light, but still u need to stop fully before turning, or unless a sign says you can't turn right on a red. Some places like San Francisco might require you to do a parallel park. The 3 point turn seems to be mandatory on all dmvs.

    Good luck ! Oh..you might have to go early also since the places gets pretty crowded ^^;;

  9. It's nearly 1 AM now here in Cali.....can't sleep...don't feel like playing my PS3 so I've just been browsing the boards and on my other forums lol.

    Just seeing what others are doing hahaha... I see 4 users, some guests :clock:
