  1. The snow melted enough yesterday for the buses to run again, so I could get into town and post my Packet 3 response. Woke up to see... it's snowing again, even harder <_<

  2. I know sweetie

We will get there in the end

Just send your packet 3 back PDQ, you never know we might even get the same interview date..........

That would be nice, I secretly hoped I would end up having the same interview day as a VJ'er. It'd make the apparently long-as-hell interview wait lighter :D

  3. how sweet

I hope my packet 3 was ok, well if it was not then I would not have got my interview..............or would I............yeah paranoia setting in hahahahaha

Even if we did screw up something on one of the forms, I think it'd still be alright because they ask us the same things 4732428482 times. You must be fine because you've been issued your interview :) I think they'd have given you an 'RFE' if you did anything wrong. Try not to worry. but, I know how it is when your happiness rests in the balance of getting everything right. This process is cruuuuuel.

  4. hahahahaha

Now you are making me double check everything, not a bad thing when I found out the other half made a couple of boo boo's on the affidavit when I decided to double check it yesterday. At least I have time to get a new one

Sorry! My paranoia is infectious. Haha.. I just had my mum sit with me for 30mins and check through the entirety of my packet 3 response :D

  5. I noticed that the DS-156 has a space for a passport photograph, but the London consulate website also says you need to take 3 passport photos to the embassy. Do I attach the passport photo now, or just leave it blank and take the photos with me?

I hope I don't have to attach them before I send Packet 3, because I think I only have UK sized ones

No take them to the interview I thought you only needed 2 and the other was for the medical..........

Oops.. yes it does say two, you're right :star:

  7. Couldn't get out today to post my Packet 3 response as the snow made the roads too dangerous to drive on, and couldn't book my medical because the bad weather made their computer systems go down (they couldn't schedule me an appointment) .. I moan all year that we don't get snow, because I usually love it, then as soon as we do get it, it delays my K1 progress a little

I hope I put my response together correct.. are you meant to send all of the forms in dulpicate to them? Is the one that says 'don't write below this line, the consular officer will help you will this in' the only one that you DON'T sign? because I signed the others when they prompted me too.

Argh this whole process is making me so paranoid about forms. I just want to be in the US with my boyfriend :(

No only the DS 156 is in duplicate and that is the one I told you not to sign so you are ok

I hope your fiance does not mind that you have a boyfirend

Haha I just hate that term :(:ot2:

The website said three of the forms need to be in duplicate? I'm confused

The checklist is in there too :)

  9. Sending back 'Packet 3' today. It says to wait until you have all of your documents.. but as long as I have them before the interview, will it be okay to just send it now? Affidavit of support documents will be in the mail soon, and police certificate is due here within a week..

    http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html

... 'Police certificates' AND 'Police Certificate for the United Kingdom' ? Do I need more than the one I just sent away for?

Never been arrested, or anything..

You don't send ANY documents back to the embassy.. right? You just send back the forms, and take the documents/passport/certificates/evidence/etc with you to the interview? I saw some people saying that you're not meant to sign some of the forms until the actual interview..? Should I leave any blank? (Sorry for all the questions..)

(I can't believe how many times they ask you for the SAME thing in those 4 forms.. I think I answered my name like, 5 times.)

Booking my medical today too. :dancing:

  10. For the question about my passport:

    Place of Issuance:

    City:

    State/Province:

What should I put? The only thing my passport says under 'issuing' is 'GBR' and I'm confused.

I don't know where exactly passports are issued. I've had this one for almost five years

  11. Um, I got packet 3, I think... only, it's more like a 'letter 3'.. it's a letter from the London consulate with a couple of web links for forms that I need to return to them. I thought they actually sent you the forms.. hence the packet? Did they just get lazy?

Our packet 3 was the same way this week too. They actually sent two identical packets (letters) with links to their website for forms to return, no forms inside the actual packet. It had instructions on booking the medical and the checklist sheet but that was it. We had already filled out the required forms so we are not too bothered by it, however it did leave us wondering the same thing.

Hmm, I got no instructions for how to book the medical/a checklist, just the letter with weblinks.. I hope just going to the website for the forms will be enough

  12. Does anyone know anything about bringing a bunny to the US?

I'm from Texas currently living in the UK but eventually we would like to move back to Texas. I now have a pet bun-bun named Starsky. I don't want to have to leave him behind just because we decided we've had enough of the cold weather and ####### Mexican food!

How could I leave this little guy behind?

I figure he's small enough for carry on and his poops don't smell, they might roll around the floor of the plane though :P Has anyone here tried it or heard of it?

    I know Airpets handle rabbits..

    http://airpets.com/index.html

Good luck  He is SO cute. I love bunnies.

  13. Still waiting for Packet 3. Sent away for police certificate today.

Apparently our case left NVC on the 12th.. should I be expecting Packet 3 any day now?

Our case left NVC on the 12th also, it just made it onto the embassy system today according to DoS, but no mention of package 3 being sent out yet

How did you find out?

  14. /edit x2: By the way, I think greyhounds are beautiful. They've got these big, soulful eyes, eeeee. I hope that me and Knight can get a greyhound mix or something as a companion to Bean (he seems quite friendly toward everything, including dogs).

I grew up around greyhounds and can't be without them :D If you went to a greyhound rescue and specified for a cat friendly hound, I don't think you'd have any trouble finding one. A lot of ex racers suprisingly can be de-trained very well :star:

    *convince*

  15. Hi everyone! I'm new to VJ. Me and my boyfriend are just starting to compile all the info needed together to file the I-129F and get things moving this spring. However, I have a dog, a labrador called Honey and have the worry of taking her over to the US hanging over my head aswell as all the other worries I'm sure you all know about. Does anyone have any experience or tale to tell about travelling over on their K1 with a dog in tow. Also any info about the process. Rabies shot, pet passport etc?? We'd all like to be fully prepared on the process. We'll be flying with Continental from Birmingham btw.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I sent my greyhound over before my actual approval.. was probably risky, but I would trust my boyfriend with her even if the worst happened with our case, and things here are stressful as it is. Here's what I did:

*Called the vet, arranged an appointment with a qualified vet to do a give her the rabies vaccine/pet passport/to be microchipped. Got her rabies-free certificate. Also got her some flea treatment just to be safe.

*Contacted Airpets, who would collect her from my house, house her in their kennels for 1 night (to make sure she had her meal, etc at the right time, so as not to soil her crate) The quote was £1500 total, which included her crate, (keep it, they're still useful after  ) the kennel stay, them picking her up, the flight, another required certificate (general health) that must be issued within 10 days of the dog travelling. It was expensive but definately less stress on both of us. My dog is 31 kilos - not sure if your lab will be any less, as they're a litter smaller/probably weigh less?

*Went to Airpets, measured my hound for her kennel, she LOVED the people which made me feel a lot better :star: Signed some papers, nothing too scary, just who should be allowed to pick her up at the destination, etc. I put both mine and my boyfriend's names, as I was flying out to visit him the previous day. They have to be 'naked' for their flight, but they can attach collars and tags to the outside of the crate and you're allowed to stuff blankets in to make it comfy.

She made it fine :) Peed in her crate, but I couldn't blame her because it was a new experience and the flight was also a bit delayed on take off, so the 8 hour flight became about 9. :( Poor girl. but she was so happy and wiggly when she got out and she loves America/my boyfriend's dog :D

Picking her up though was a NIGHTMARE... but only because we were silly and forgot where we parked :crying: When your dog arrives at the 'cargo center' you have to then go to the airport nearby to have some import papers approved.. which only took about 15min, but turned into about two hours thanks to us rushing in and not looking at parking garage signs o_o and when you know your beloved dog is a couple of miles away in a crate in a cargo center, it feels like the world is falling apart

    I probably missed something important..

but yeah, I heavily recommend Airpets, their kennels are right next to the runway apparently too so the pets don't spend longer than necessary on the plane :)

  16. I just got a letter in the mail saying they would be sending my I-129F to the Consulate within 4-5 days!

Great! Did NVC rep tell you when they shipped your I-129f to consulate? You can track on dhl website if you know the day they forwarded your file.

I've been trying to do this, but the instructions confuse me. NVC said they sent ours on the 12th but nothing shows up on DHL for any date

Try this, EXP 12 JAN 2009A

Then choose shipment date from 11 jan to 16 jan and track it. This should work.

Where do I enter that number? They have a lot of different tracking options

edit: nevermind, did it, didn't see anything for London though.
