  1. Wooo, it snowed...I'll probably get sick of it in a while, but it's exciting right now. I went and made a snow angel :P, which is probably the first in front of the house in years. Wow, four inches! We barely got an inch in Surrey where I lived, and even then, it was gone within a few days. Snooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

Haha I sympathise, I also lived in Surrey and the most I ever saw was a pathetic layer that melted before I could even jump in it :( I can't wait for REAL USA SNOW. C:

  2. Sorry if there's already a thread about this and I'm just blind or something.. but can anybody recommend a moving company to me? I've been in the US since April and think it's time to move my 9-10 boxes of stuff out of my mum's house .. I think she's fed up with holding it :star: Luckily I have no furniture or anything.. it's all just books and my childhood things and etc. Are there any customs procedures or fees I should be aware of too? I have no idea how to get started and google just brings up a tonne of different companies. I wondered if anybody on here had a personal recommendation.

    :star:

  3. I think... I got approved o_o

On November 3, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

  4. Hi guys, long time no see :D

I've been so busy jobhunting and sorting thigns out and natrually everything that goes with immigrating.

I got my EAD on October 2nd after just 2 weeks when I sent back an RFE. (Forgot the W2s, oops.)

My case was transfered to CSC on 25th September... does this mean we're likely to not have to have an interview?

Civil ceremony, SSN, getting HPV shot and Biometrics went super smooth for me :) Yay.

  5. I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question... but I guess it's to do with the Adjustment of Status.

I haven't filed yet.. I have just under 3 more weeks before my K1 Visa expires, so I'm working on it tonight so I don't become out of status. I have a convention to attend in Colorado in August.. my flight and hotel are all paid for, and we can't drive there.. but I'm wondering how it'll work at the airport when I don't have a green card yet and will be on the Adjustment of status phase. I've never taken a domestic US flight.. I've only been on trans-Atlantic flights, so I'm not sure what to expect at the airport and what documents I need to have with me.. because obviously, I'm terrified of them getting confused about my status and deporting me

and I'd much rather drop the convention/flight/hotel alltogether than risk being deported and losing my right to be here with my husband.

  6. "if they take six months total... should I just file now without my vaccine info and wait for an RFE? Since I need to file AOS before 5th July.. "

My hp vaccine was $120. You only need the first shot of the vaccine to file for AOS, they don't ask for proof the second or third, so just get the first shot and file for AOS, you won't get an RFE :)

    Good Luck

Oh awesome. That's comforting to know - thanks for that :)

  7. I just had hpv last week in USA got my first of three shots to be able to send of my vaccinations transcribed with aos. One shot cost us $159 cos the medical insurance decided to find/create a silly loop hole so they wouldn't cover any of it. We went to my husbands normal doctor and as he didn't have it in stock he wrote a prescription for one shot and we brought it back to him. Got written proof from the USA doctor of what I had got from him and took it to the civil surgeon. Second shot is due in two months and third in six months completes the series. Hopefully we find somewhere where medical insurance will pay some of each shot so it's cheaper. Vh stands for varraciella history ie I had chickenpoxs as a child. Cost me $35 to get it transcribed by civil surgeon in Santa monica. Always check the forms before they seal the envelope the lady forgot to put my new shots on there. :s

If they take six months total... should I just file now without my vaccine info and wait for an RFE? Since I need to file AOS before 5th July..

  8. I'm sorry if these are stupid questions but I'm still confused and can't seem to find solid answers.

The first is the Affidavit of Support in the Adjustment of Status.. does everything I took to the interview have to be collected and sent in all over again? My affidavit information, including employer letters/tax returns/etc from co-sponsor and my husband were taken at my interview. Do we have to ask for another employer's letter and ask for the co-sponsor's papers all over again? I read that some people didn't send in affidavits to the USCIS with their AOS packets because their 'evidence was strong enough'.. and the checklist specifies for an affidavit to be sent in, so I'm confused.

The second thing is the vaccine info.. mine was marked as 'incomplete' and under 'Human Papollomavirus', they wrote 'K1 visa applicant' and told me I needed to have this one completed for AOS.. but where do I get this done? Do I call any doctor and say I need this vaccine done or do I have to go elsewhere? If anybody has had it done here in the USA rather than when they were in their home country, what're the fees like and is it more than one injection?

Also under 'Varicella', 'VH' is written.. what does this mean..?

Thank you for any answers... I have another month left to file before my 90 days are up and I've completed everything in the AOS packet minus these.

and again, sorry if these are stupid or have been asked before.

  9. Thanks all :) I'm almost done packing and I just picked myself a window seat. I hope British Airways flights are still serving their delicious chicken tarragon and pre-landing pretzel nuggets :9 Also I hope this one really rude stewardess won't be there, she was there on the last three flights I took with BA. Every time. Last time she threw a sandwich at me when I asked for one and spoke to her co-worker how I was spending too long in the toilet o_o

@ H&V: yep, Baltimore is my final flight destination :D The reviews on VJ for the Baltimore point of entry are nice and reassuring, and I've never had problems there either. Nice people.. I hope this continues for tomorrow.

@ Stinky Monkey: I will do, thank you for putting up with my paranoia (L)

@ Nich-Nick: AHAHHA yes I will instantly bloat out into a fatty doughy American biscuit. More like this though:

For the sake of staying true to the original topic, my X-ray has been banished to the bottom of my suitcase. I have my Passport, my sealed envelope, my hand luggage, my two pieces of checked luggage...... and my mind is racing like I've forgotten something. Aaaa.

  10. biscuit, are you sad to be leaving? (im sure but i wonder if the excitement it outweighing the sadness.)

In honesty.. no, I've always been so miserable in England, I'm not massively close to my family.. sans my mum who will keep in contact, I've been so happy in America with my boyfriend and I just can't wait to be gone :D

Agh I sound so bitter and cold :(

  11. yeah i have mine from when i was in france on my fridge. i <3 it. its blue and pretty. and says 'mlle. lisabette' on it. also? you can kinda see my boobs (:x).

I can sorta see mine too D: but I can't see my right shoulderblade.. leading me to believe I may be missing one :D

EDIT: OH and I'm flying to Baltimore from Heathrow. Missed your question, oops :star:

  12. uh. and how big is BIG? dimensions?

    It's freaking huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge! :D

My X-ray was opened at the interview.. so I've been looking at it...

Seeing my bones and stomach and etc. I'm all amazed like 'WOW, I REALLY DO HAVE ORGANS INSIDE ME'

  13. I'm sorry if this has been asked here already.. I did look through the forum for it but I'm tired and stressy and may have missed it..

Is it 10000% OK to keep your x-ray in your checked luggage? The guy at the interview told me they wouldn't let me into the US without it, but nobody here (that I've seen) has reported handing it over at point of entry.. and as many of you know it's huge and near impossible to fit into carry-on luggage. I could certainly do without carrying it around.

I'm off tomorrow (Monday) to make the 3000ish mile leap across the pond.. I'm so nervous yet so excited. Thank you for all the help and support I've been given on here. Couldn't have made it this far without VJ, no doubt. :star:

    Next stop....... AOS

  14. Thanks for all of the congratulations.. I need to put my write-up here, but I'm still so amazed and tired and actually-eating-and-sleeping again that everything I write comes out bad

Good luck, Magpie :) I know it's horrible before the interview but everybody here is right.. it's such an anticlimax. but I guess you have to experience it yourself before you'll actually admit to it/realize that, I know I was that way.. Haha
