  1. Hi!

I'm just wondering if I can work without getting in trouble of course, before I get my EAD?

Im filling some job applications and applying for jobs here and there but Im not sure if that is allowed?!

I guess that being married to an US citizen gives you some sort of "privilege" to work prior getting EAD or green card, and its all about the employer understanding that(you being married to an US citizen) situation or not?

I have a SSN, and the need of working!.. Im going out of my mind just being a housewife!!!!

My point is, I dont wanna get in trouble or mess up my process cause I start making incomes and then the DHS finds out about it!! :dead:

So anybody can help me to clear up this point?

    Thanks in advance!!

I think you can as long as you have social security card. I am a newcomer in USA, i got my SSCard on August 13,08. it shows VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION, and has your name & number on this SSCard.

  2. thought I would let people know, joan applied s.s. card on 8/4/08 she got a letter on the 28th said it was approved and will be sent in about 2 weeks, I know she was worried about it, many of her friends told her it takes only 2 weeks.

were going today to the doctor trying to get the 693a taken care of so we can file.

    take care

What is SS card? you mean Social Security card?

I applied for it on July 25, 08; and i got it on August 13 by mail. it is not so bad.

  3. Naku ate shape, sa lagay kong to parang tuloy tuloy na pag lobo ko. Nevertheless, I am eating oatmeal, and tea. it helps flush fats. and I think in your case, you dont need to lose weight just maintain it.

I'm not into eating oatmeal or cereals. What brand of tea you are using? Para kaceng tumataba na aco eh hehehe or baka kaya buntis?

i took some green tea/Jasmine tea from China. But i am pregnant now, only 2 months, so can not drink tea and no appetite for food. You should find a Asian or Oriental supermarket, you can buy the fresh veges/some Phillippines food there.

  4. Weird, just weird. Did they both know she was allergic before she came? And as far as the Dr records, she can go to the office and request a copy. She has every right to her medical records, whereas he doesn't. It's called the HIPPA law (if I remember correctly).

My friend is allergic before, but only itch, no red spot. The result is she was bited by fleas.

How can she get Copy of Dr record, a newcomer in a farm, don't know way, can not drive, can not speak english well? Her Fiance already booked the tickets for her, the departure day is 9th of Sept. She called last night, she feels very uncomfortable, heart and headache. Since she has arrived here, didn't rest well, and got up earlier to cook for him, suffering from the itching red spots. I used CAM by Yahoo too see her, puffy eyes & face, and showed me the red spot on her body.

Oh my god, i can not imagine how can she survive under this environment.

  5. i am posting for my friend.

She arrived at USA on August 07 by K1 visa. Due to she is allergic to dogs & cat's hair. and her Fiance has 5 dogs and 1 cat. Two days after she arrived, she found there are many red spot on her body, very itch. Maybe one week later, her Finace finally took her to see the doc, the doc said she was bited by some bugs or flees. Her fiance love dogs and cats. Even though he bought some meds for flees, but too many flees on dogs, cat, and inside of grass. (her Finace is living in the Farm). Now one her body, from face to feet, many many red spot, and she scratched them, you can imagine how uncomfortable she is. But her finace don't want to keep the dogs a little far away from the house. And my friend can not live under this environment.

Another things, her fiance even don't allow her to speak to other people, even with his sons, grandchildren. don't take her out,

So finally my friend mention go back to China. And he said ok, he will buy the tickets for her.

But the problem is how can she get back the SEAL PACKAGE when she enter POE in Detroit, and return it to US Consulate in GZ????

( i am not sure she is right about this points. When we get our SEAL PACKAGE 3 days after passing visa interview. There is a letter, generally meaning is like, if you can not get marry in 90 days, you have to return that package to US Consulate in GZ. You will have a better Chance to get US visa in the future if you want to gp to USA again; something like that)

Any VJ members have any idea pls advise. Thank you very much!

I'm really sorry to hear about all the problems your friend is having now that she is in the States. I think it is a real test for filers who have not lived with their fiance prior to such a life changing experience of moving to another country and being so far from family. Her fiance should have helped make this transition a lot easier for her, but it does sound as though he really doesn't care that she can't live around animals that make her sick and refuses to allow her to go anywhere. Being totally honest, it does not sound as though his reason for marrying her was anything to do with love, but more down to the fact that he seems old (you mentioned gandchildren) and just wanted a beautiful, exotic wife. That is not fair on your friend as she, as we all do, deserves someone who loves her as much as she loves him.

With regards to the allergy lumps and bumps, I totally sympathise. I know what's she is going through there! With me, it's an allergy to mosqueto bites (big lumps, bruises, etc) and there's nothing at all anyone can do about that :).

I don't think that you can get the paperwork back once it has been handed in. It is the property of the US, so they do have to keep it. Again, I'm in a slightly similar position as they took my birth certificate (by accident) when I entered, and now I have to get another copy of that sent to me from the UK. Once any of the paper work they take at immigration is in their hands, there's nothing you can do to get it back as it does not belong to you.

I would suggest that, when your friend goes back home, she contacts the US embassy out there and explains why she was unable to marry this man. My concern would be that if she were to be under the situation again in the future of applying for a US visa to marry, she might not get it approved. It is possible that the powers that be would consider this first issue and just think of her as someone marrying for less that good intent (just to get to the states and the person she would be marrying is really not a factor in her life, but a tool to help her get into the country). Unfortunately, some people do that.

From what you have said, it does sound as though she really should not be with this man. I wish her all the best in the future and hope she finds someone who will treat her much better than this man is.

You are right. He is a old man, 72 years old. My friend is 56, but she keeps fit very well, looks like in her 40's. Cooking for him everyday, try to make different foods everyday for him to eat, and take to work. He works, and takes foods with him for lunch.keeping house clean. and my friend is good at acupuncture, he and his son have problems about legs. And my friend took all the tools from China, and help them treatment. But her finace maybe seems not appreciated. The animals can't take care of you, can not cook for you; but he didn't see it.

  6. I don't know if she has a camera (or is allowed to use it by the fiance), but I would try to document the flea bites while they look bad and the dogs. If she later applies for a K1 again, she would have some good proof that she came to the US and found conditions she could not live with when they ask her about her abandoned case. Maybe she could ask the doctor for a statement too.

yes, i think it is good idea to take pictures of all the red spots.

For the doc's statement, it is in her fiance's hand. he will not give her. That is what i told her to keep doc's statement. But it is in his hands,

  9. Hi everyone,

How do I find out If Guangzhou consulate recieved our package from NVC? I got the letter from NVC a few weeks ago that they forward our case to Guangzhou Consulate.

    Thanks.

    Heel,

I will call them next week thank for your help.

Hi, pls don't call GZ so early because it needs at least 2 months that docs will arrive at GZ. You can go to Citic Bank to buy the prepaid PIN card to call, sorry i forgot the number. but when you buy that card, there is a instruction and phone number there. You should provide the benificary's name, case number like GUZ.....,

    Wish u luck!

  10. Hi VJ,

i have one question. During my interview for today, i noticed there are 2 colors for the file folder. AFter you presented your docs in the seal package, the staff looked at them, asked you signed, and put docs into a folder.

My folder is in RED, as well as another K1 interviewee. So i asked her do u know the meaning? The answer was NO. She said maybe it is just common, no meaning. But i am sure there is meaning. So i thought is that means RED FLAG? Hahaha. So i asked her what is her age gap with her fiance? She said 6 years older, he is working as a Government officer.

does anybody know the meaning or difference between RED folder and YELLOW folder?

  11. Today is my visa interview date. we got up so earlier to get a earlier number. We waited until 7:30 am, the guard began to give us a card and let you enter the building one by one; went to the fourth floor, then fifth floor, waiting for the secruitity check while the guard will collect your interview letter, done this about 8: 10 am. Then Window 29 call my name, so i presented my seal package and open it in front of the staff. We had a short communication.

ask, Are you from Hubei? yes.

Are you working in GZ? yes.

What countries have you been? Chile.

For how many days? 16 days.

Oh, his is quite elder than you. My answer was age is not the problem, the most important is we have bonifined relationship.

  13. I am filling out the I-134, Affidavit of Support, and section I states: "If you are outside the U.S., the affidavit must be sworn to or notice affirmed before a U.S. consular or immigration officer."

I live in Xiamen, my fiance has her interview at your office on July 10th. Can I go with her to Guangzhou and have my I-134 affirmed the day before her interview? If not, how do I make an appointment? I've tried calling the embassy there but gotten nowhere. They have an office of services for American citizens, and I've got the address and office hours of that, but I really don't know if I can just walk in and expect help. Also, is there a fee? And what does it mean to have the form "affirmed" -- other than my passport, the form, and attachments, do I need anything else in order to get them to "affirm" it?

    Thanks for any help!

Hi Klortho, I am Eileen from GZ, my interview date for K1 is on July 10 too. My fiance Peter will fly from USA and accompany me for intervew. My skpye name is alice63-8_he; MSN alice57416014@hotmail.com

  14. Hi, My name is Shuyan. I am in China and I am applying for the K1 Visa.

On the one of the forms I got in the packet 4, it asks me a question "How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S.?" Can anyone help to advise me what is the proper answer for this question based on my situation.

And on the FAMILY COMPOSITION SHEET, it asks me to list all my relatives, and there's a item for Spouse or fiance(e). It requires to give the Pinyin Name and Chinese Name. So I guess it's not applicable to put my fiance(e), who is a US citizen, on that. Pls help.

    Thank you very much. :crying:

    Shuyan

You intend to stay permanently. I would write "K1 permanently".

Only Chinese names need Chinese characters and Pinyin. Non-Chinese names are written with normal Roman characters or "in English" if you will.

You do write your fiance's name in English. If he has any children, brothers or sisters, list them where asked.

    Shuyan my Sweet Lao Poh

The I-134 is sent Fed Ex I know they wont overnight due to customs but its on its way...Hopefully someone can answer is the I-134 needed for the medical exam? I know its a little late but I wanted it to be perfect...Please remember I love you so much Shuyan this is going to work, this is real we came so far.....They can see its a real relationship I included all kinds of extra evidence of support in the packet I-134.

Thanks to everyones support on VJ a huge help.....Talk to you tonight on Skype Shuyan..xoxoxoxo Jason

HI Shuyan, I am Eileen from GZ, my interview date is July 10 for K1. I would like to add you to my skpye. my skype name is alice6308_he. my QQ is 57316014. Waiting for your reply.

  15. I've never heard of the I-134 being needed for the medical.

It isn't needed for the medical but many do the medical and interview on the same trip to Guangzhou. In that case, she needs everything before she leaves for GUZ.

The instructions for the I-134 only require the following unless you are self employed: The completed and notarized I-134; the letter from the bank with the date opened, account balance, deposit total for past year; letter from employer with salary, date and nature of employment, whether employment is temp or permanent. You also must include info on bonds if you have any. Self employed is different.

The I-134 is submitted with the OF-169 as part of package 3.

NO, don't need I 134 for medical exam. I 134 is for interview. you have to bring it during interview
