  1. Hi! I have heard many stories of angry and hurt fiancees walking out of the embassy, K1 Visa refused. I have the following going for me:

    1) I visited her 8 times in Colombia to visit her in 2008. I live near Boston in the US.

    2) Gads of photos of us and her family, and even one of my daughter with us in Colombia.

    3) Pages and pages of receipts from Skype for phone calls. My phone bill is $150.00 a month, even though some of our talk is computer to computer and free.

    4) I know her family and their names, what they do for a living, their children, etc.

    5) Lots of receipts for my trips

    6) No prior K1 petitions

    7) Fluency in Spanish (no language barrier) - Lived in Mexico and Spain years ago

    8) I brought my daughter to meet her in May 2008

    9) Yes, we are in love. Can't stand to be without her.

    10) Our paperwork went through with no RFE's.

    11) In 2008 the sole reasons I traveled to Colombia was to see her. I have been with her in 3 Major Colombian cities.

    12) She worked for the government at a clinic for retired military personnel.

Assuming we bring the right papers, does this look like a good chance for success given the embassy in Bogota?

  2. I logged onto the USCIS site today and saw that they had mailed my NOA2 today. I was at work and having a so-so day, and went to the site out of habit. So what does it feel like when you finally see the progress???? I can't speak for everyone, but I couldn't sit at my desk. I ran to an empty conference room and jumped on the phone. I asked my fiancee if she was sitting. When I told her that we had gone past this major hurdle, tears welled up in my eyes and I heard her crying.... When you are in love, the emotion of finding out that the distance between you will change soon unleashes so much emotion. We filed in mid April at the VSC, and 108 days later we got our NOA2. I am almost at a loss for words and I am overjoyed. For those who are waiting, you have a beautiful moment in store once you get your notification! Thank you VSC, and you didn't RFE us. Thanks again. And to VisaJourney....thanks for helping us get all of the papers in order......

  3. I was petitioned by my ex American fiance before way back 2004. our relationship didn't work, before the 90 days get over i went back home ( Philippines) to avoid breaking the law. When i arrived PI i just noticed to my passport that i still have the I-94 card, so i went to USEM to see if i can surrender my I-94 card there, but they give me a instructions what to do and where to mail it, so i did, but never heard any response from them.

my question is do i need to cancel those K1 visa before? or its already void since i went back home before the 90 days end? i have a K1 petition right now and its been a while since we filed it, we never get any updates nor touch even fiance already called them. I am much worried since i'ved seen some applicant get thier NOA2 now that we even filed earlier than them. All we wanted is to know whats going on, on our case if we got some problem to it, so we can fix it now not later when its to late already.

I highly appreciate all your replies. Thank u !

First of all congratulations on returning within the 90 day window. That will be key in getting another fiancee visa. As mentioned, the K1 visa is used once, and once only. At 90 days, you have to leave the US if not married. Even with the same fiancee, you would have had to have reapply for a new K1. I know a Colombian young woman who had two K1's within 2 or 3 years. At 80 days, the first guy told her to go home (a jerk). Now she is happily married and living in the states.

  4. So I almost ready to send in my I129 next week. I was wondering though about the how we met question.

I put something Similar to this: " Allan and I met in early July of 2007 whiel both attending a Bile class at ------ church in jinja, Uganda. we were in the class from July to November togeather. We got engaged in April 2008."

Do I need more info? the question asks how you met, but I know a lot of people go into details on a second page. What do you think??

While it is okay for you to keep it succinct, most put a bit more detail. Remember that you are trying to show the person reading and adjudicating your application that there is an ongoing relationship and that you met in person. Your primary evidence that you submit (receipts and passport stamps) should help to support what you have written. If you have too little information you might get a RFE (Request for Evidence) if the person puts down too little detail, and if you put anything questionable you could also cause a bump in the process. Your case shows a coincidental meeting, as opposed to two people who met through an agency and would therefore potentially need to meed IMBRA requirements. Based on what you listed, you don't have to worry about IMBRA...it's just an example. You might want to add how often you saw each other, state if you gave her a ring (then send the receipt as secondary evidence).

  5. Hi! I was surprised with the same problem today too. If I were to guess, the web page isn't connecting to the database. No need to panic. It looks like a technical glitch or maybe a maintenance issue. You might also see that you can't check the status of your case by entering in the case number either. These things happen.

When you are in love, you end up checking the status all the time, even at 7:30 AM on a Saturday. I am sure that they will have it up by Monday. :)

    Hello!

I have use our online account for months, looked every day using our username and password but today it didn't work! I am 100% sure I wrote the password correctly but it does not let me in. I also tried searching with our receipt number but it does not work either. Do you know what the problem is? I hope they haven't removed our application or anything. We've applied for K1-visa 115 days ago.....
