  1. Hello,

I put my foreign home address (my parent's address where I used to live for 25 years)

    Good Luck!!

    Hi,

We did the same thing. When you start filing G-325A that's where you will be able to put your addresses of the past five years .

    Hi Rebekah,

Just want to state this clear, on the I-130 Section C - Information about your relative, No. 2 address part, I put my current living address (where I live with my husband), and on No. 19 Relative's address abroad, put foreign home address.

So just make sure read everything clearly and answer correctly is fine! GOOD LUCK!

  2. hi, well, i am not 100% sure whether you need it or not, however, for safety sake, I would recommend you to bring that "yellow book" to the civil surgeon, since that yellow book should have listed her medical records and the civil surgeon would know how to work on her medical examination. Just to make your application go smooth, I would suggest to do that medical examination from the civil surgeon. GOOD LUCK!

  3. Hi, the "petitioner's birth certificate and your petitioner's evidence of United States Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Resident Status" means YOURS since you are the petitioner of your husband. You are the one sponsoring him, so, bring your birth certificate and your US passport to the interview then~ I would suggest you to make a copy of your birth certificate also (just in case they ask for it).

Good Luck!! Try your best to be prepared and bring all the evidence/documents you have like photos, bank statements, insurance card.... etc.......don't mind making copies since you never know, they might really ask for it.

  4. Hey Guys,

    I have a few questions. I'm an F1 student, been here for 2.5 years studying for my PhD. 18 months ago I met a girl and we've been dating since. Things are very serious and we're contemplating marriage, BUT;

    1) She has to leave the country and go to Europe for work and could be away for 2 years. I haven't found much information about this kind of scenario, is the AOS request likely to be rejected in this situation? We've got 18 months of photos, love letters, emails, cards, including photos of her in my country and me at her family home with parents, etc.

    2) Apropos the previous point, Is it possible to get married and not file for AOS immediately? And file when she returns? But if I graduate before she comes back and want to apply for OPT would this cause a problem?

We'd really like to formalise our relationship before she has to go. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for your advice!

    Hello,

There is no problem about filing the AOS later. You do not have to file it right away, some people got married and applied for AOS 3 years later! Since she is a US citizen, it doesn't matter for her to leave the country of course, coz you are not trying to make use of her citizenship to let you stay here.

As for the OPT after graduation, I do not think it is a problem, because you are still under F-1 visa, you enter the country, study and want to get work experience in your study field.

So, just keep your original F-1 plans going (continue PhD program, apply for OPT after graduation), and if you both are planning to get married, you can do it now too! It won't affect your F-1 status since you are not applying for AOS. You can still take classes after you got married.

  5. Well, if you are going to grad school in the US anyway, you can apply F-1 again to continue school and plan for the future with your bf later. If you are not very sure about the school thing, and you applied for F-1, enter the US, then got married, that is risky, because the USCIS might accuse you for visa fraud.

Therefore, think about whether you want to go back to school first.... if you do, then apply for F-1, study, graduate, OPT again.....or get married, then AOS..........just do not come to the US and get married right away.

  6. I would suggest you to have 2 copies of major documents, like marriage certificate, bank statement.....etc.....note that they might really ask for a copy of certain documents even they might already have it. During my interview, the lady couldn't find my marriage certificate, and ask if I bring it and if she can keep it. I say I can give her my extra copy and she is happy. Finally she found my other copy of the marriage certificate and gave me back the extra one.

Therefore, I would say better to be well-prepared, what if they really ask you for one and you don't have, I heard people got denied because of that.....so better be safe than sorry, bring more things and the chance of getting approve is higher! Sorry, I'm not trying to freak you out, hope these help!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

  7. Svetlana and I are prepared to mail our AOS packet, but do we need two passport-sized photos for each form?

Right now we have included 2 with I-485, 2 with G-325a and 2 with I-765. But do we need 2 more with the I-131?

    No need photo for G-325a

    2 photos for I-485 (AOS)

    2 photos for I-765 (EAD)

    2 photos for I-131 (AP)

if you apply for I-130 at the same time, you need 1 photo and your spouse need 1 photo too.

  8. Yeah, just RELAX and have confident!!

I would suggest to bring all the copies that you have with you (in case they missed sth or couldn't find sth at that moment, you can offer them the copy). Most of the time they already have you whole package with them, but just bring it and when they ask you for certain documents, you can tell them you have a copy with you, at least to make them feel you are prepared!!!

Beside bring copies, also bring your newest proof of bonafide marriage documents, like bank statements, photos, and the the original documents like IDs, passports (both passports).........and take a look at other people interview question, and see if you know the answers! Try your best and everything should be fine!

    GOOD LUCK!!!

  9. I tried that and yes, if I select a 'simple' appointment like need a form or just a generic case-status appointment, then it will ask for my details and presumably offer an appointment. If I turn up there with an appointment for one thing and say 'actually, I need something else' then surely they'll show me the exit?

I would say try to get that available appointment time first (better than you can't get one at all), coz when I arrived that place for my Infopass appointment, they just ask me what question I want to ask and help me with my concerns, they did not check how did I schedule that appointment. Hope this helps!

  10. Hey everybody,

i came over here with a K1 Visa and we are now filing for AOS. Since i can file for AP and EAD at the same time as AOS and not pay for those two, can i go ahead and file for and Avance Parole even though i might not make use of it? I just want to avoid having to pay extra for it at later time in case i need it.

Has anybody done it this way?

    Thanks in advance

    Maddy

Yes, you can apply for the AP even though you currently don't have any plan to travel yet, but who knows, you might need/want to go travel before you receive your Green Card! I would say just apply both EAD and AP at the same time!

  11. Hey guys

My husband (usc) and I are in the process of filing for AOS from F1 visa and have hit a road block. We were married a few weeks ago but currently reside in different states. I am at the tail-end of my OPT and will join my husband in a few weeks.

Here’s our problem,….circumstances beyond both of our control permitted us from living together. As a result, we do not possess any of the required evidence to prove bonafide marriage. We do have tons of photos, chat logs and phone records dating back to 2007, airline tickets, cards.

Would the evidence I listed be satisfactory enough to go along with the 1-130 form??

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

I did not have much information back then too. For your reference, these are the things I have attached: 1) Joint American Express credit card information, 2) joint bank account and 3) 10 photos printed on 2 sheets of paper with description (travel pics and wedding pics) At that time we did not even have any joint name insurance or property. So I would say if you have opened any joint membership or bank account, just attached a copy of statement. GOOD LUCK!
