My approval was almost 5 months later. I didn't have any touches as well before approval.

Quick question...
Do the packet 3 docs get sent to this address, or am I missing something? Can it be written in Thai as it shows on the top of the Thai instructions in the same checklist?
Consular Section
American Embassy
95 Wireless Road
Bangkok 10330 Thailand
Thanks!

Woohoo! NOA2 the 12th of December. It's a good thing too, cause I'm in BKK doing the medical and Police stuff. Can't wait!
-
I think you'd be the first to say a visa interview was 'fun' Congrats, I hope mine goes as smoothly. Still waiting for NOA2...

Hey Tom,
Let us know how your fiancee's interview goes today!

It's pretty much the slap in the face I've always dreamed about I'm still going to try for December sometime, but I don't know when... I'd call your airline and see if you can't get bumped up to a flight this week. I'm sure they'll be empty going inbound lol.

Well, my leave has been officially canked. Even though there's no hostility toward Americans, my command doesn't want me going fearing a coup and/or civil unrest.
I can only wish the best to those who are going to make the trip. I fear for my fiancee's safety going to Bumrungrad and the police station in BKK. All I can hope for is a swift and somewhat peaceful resolution to this nonsense and that my fiancee can get her visa quickly.
-
I'm gonna roll the dice. Can't let a few left-wingers hold me down I'll get into Thailand eventually!
Besides, I've got to get all the packet 3 stuff together and ready to just drop in the mailbox. It's not worth putting off until January... I'd be behind the power curve then.

Well, it's a good thing I would classify seeing my future wife as "essential travel"
Having a route into and out of the country is also essential! I hope this mess ends today.

It would have to be Jan. for me. I've got Christmas commitments and have to reschedule my leave. I've already got a ticket picked out sadly. If I did go to Phuket, I'd just make my fiancee take the train down there and we could "honeymoon" our way back to Chaiyaphum. If they wanted to cut the jugular of their nation I'd say good job, but I'm pretty sure 3/4 of them didn't want it to go this far and now are having second thoughts. They just did it because it sounded all gung-ho and ####### and now they don't want to lose face and be seen as the ones to give up their stone age weapons and leave lol. Sometimes the non-confrontational culture both confuses and amuses me. What I hate the most is that they've got an improv stage and whatnot set up in there for ENTERTAINMENT! As much as it's frowned upon, I say someone needs to take PAD fun land '08 by force. There's plenty of non-lethal techniques that can be used, maybe their police weren't trained properly... As soon as an important few are taken into police custody I'm sure the rest of their bogus structure will topple like a jenga set.

This is straight garbage. I cannot believe it has been allowed to continue this long. I don't see it clearing up before a battle ensues. Looks like I'll have to reschedule or fly into Phuket...
-
Now that's a detour!

I see, well I certainly hope it works out for you. Of course, if you arrived in Bkk and then immediately went south ...
Although there has been some disturbance in CM, past history shows that whatever happens is very likely to be a bkk-centric event. So, find a window, scoot in and then get the hell out of Krung Thep!
That's the plan at least, I'm crossing my fingers but not holding my breath lol

No, the problem is that travel packages and travel itineraries have to be routed up the chain of command approved by our group C.O. and he's on leave for Thanksgiving. I have to submit a 20 page force protection package to go to a foreign country for leave lol. I've got clearance to go so far as the airport is opened back up, but I have instructions to get to the embassy ASAP no questions asked if anything escalates. It's better than nothing It helps to be in good standing with your superiors!

My fiancee called and was asking frantically if I'll be able to make it on 4 Dec. I told her I really don't know... I'm pretty sure my leave just went down the toilet. It's too bad it took this long and happened during this time of year for the boilover to finally start.
What's on December 4?
PS: I just noticed that you haven't updated your timeline yet... tsk tsk...
I'm in the marines and they're hawkeye-ing the situation right now trying to find a reason I wouldn't be able to go... I'm visiting her from the 4th to the 16th.
My timeline is up to date, unless you know I got NOA2 before I did! What am I forgetting?

I may be wrong but I'm sure you can reschedule the interview at the embassy That might solve a few problems. That, or wait to send in your packet 3 docs.

I keep telling myself that I crossed all the Ts and dotted the Is, but I'm more concerned every day about our case ending up in the administrative processing pit that seems to be trapping a surprising number of people. When this whole fiasco is over it will be a good day.

ANNA GOT HER INTERVIEW SCHEDULED DECEMBER 8!! How soon will the visa be issued (assuming all goes well....)? (Remember that December 10 is a public holiday in Thailand.)
Dang, that's speedy. Hopefully I get that fast of a turnaround too lol. What strings do I gotta pull?!

Thank you for posting the sites. It seems like a one-way ticket for my fiancee from Bangkok to Washington Dulles is going to run around $1,300. I wonder if it would be worth her asking in Bangkok to see if she could get it a little cheaper.
I would not be surprised at all if she could find it cheaper locally. In fact, that's my plan when my fiancee is ready to come to the states with me. We'll buy 2 one-ways out of bkk.

I almost always use united.com Purchased a month or so in advance, I can usually get a round trip ticket from Yuma to Bangkok for about 1100. I've noticed that prices seem to be cheapest 30-45 days before you want to leave. I don't know why, maybe itineraries aren't finalized? As previously mentioned, vayama puts a smile on my face as well.

Any of you guys that go back to Thailand on a semi regular basis to see your fiancee/wife, find that there is an adjustment period for the first few days your back in LOS? That it may take her a period of time to get "re-acquainted". Even though you talk on the phone a few times a day.....
Just curious, I am leaving to go back to Thailand for the 6th time, on 12/3, to see my wife. I've been doing this every 2 1/2 months or so now. (you can see my schedule in my time line below). I may be seeing this pattern....not sure.....
just some thoughts.........
I'm going back on the 3rd as well, arriving in BKK from LAX at 2345 on the 4th. Maybe we'll run into each other

"re acquainted" lol. The quotes make it seem like you're inferring something dirty. Other than the fact she wants to be overly smothering for the first couple of days, it hasn't been any different in my visits. You have to remember that you've each been running your own show for the past X amount of time too, so that change is probably what you're noticing.

They're shutting it down so they can have a gaming convention with all their computers. They'll fire it back up after call of duty is finished. Government employees need fun too
