  1. Yay, I'll be in Thailand in three days! I'd like to give the embassy a tongue lashing, but I should refrain :) I'll just be happy to be with my fiancee again! This waiting is killing me :S

Just got back from the Udon area less than a week ago myself. What part will you have the pleasure of visiting?

We'll be headed to Ko Chang the day after I get into BKK. We'll spend the weekend there, then a week in our home in Chaiyaphum and a week in Nong Khai.

Y'all have to remember that the embassy is hitting that string of lazy days between Songkran and all the extra holidays they get from the official US ones they observe :) That will obviously put a stick in the spokes so to speak. There may also have been an internal issue they're trying to resolve.

  2. Hey all, just dropping in to see where this has gone and to give an update. I'm still in AP, over three months now; super fun time to say the least. I'm sure I've miffed the embassy because I send them a message once a week and now they're not responding anymore :P I keep asking for specific info on whether it's there or kicked back to USCIS and all they'll say is that it's in AP and will be in contact when a decision is reached and that it has neither been approved nor denied. My fiancee didn't get a 221g, so I don't know what the reason for refusal is. I'm temped to just nix this K-1 and go for a K-3 instead. I might be waiting that long in AP anyway. It's turned into a straight garbage experience for both of us.

    Eric.

  3. lol, reminds me of when I first met my fiancee, her perception of the US was that everyone in our justice system still wore white wigs, coattails, and poofypants, and everyone else looked like they were straight outta hollywood. She has since been enlightened :P After spending a good amount of time in Thailand, I like to call it the land of scandals! I wouldn't have it any other way though; it is what it is and I still plan on living there once my tour on active duty is up :D

  4. Hey all, just jumping in to update! We're still in AP at the embassy. I don't know what the holdup is, but I haven't given up hope lol. It blows cause I'm more than likely going to be deployed if and when she gets any news of this moving forward. I've sent at least one email per week to the embassy and I get the same scripted response with no real information whatsoever.

Y'all talkin about the dirtier places reminded me of when we got into bkk to get her medical done and we ended up somewhere near bumrungrad early in the morning looking for a hotel, lmao. That place was scores more raunchy than pattaya. I was embarrassed to walk through it. We ended up staying awake until the next morning when the same street looked like a closed up ghost town.

  5. Wow this took off like a rocket. I just wanted to pop in and say that my case is still in AP @ the embassy. No word as of yet. It's quite frustrating.

As for the relationship issues, I've been lucky I guess. I've heard a number of horror stories about a select few Thai women and their hulk rage, much like my fiancee's sister has. It's had its share of ups and downs and now is a very trying time as we have planned on spending our lives together but it all teeters on the verdict of this AP. I am no stranger to stress being in the Marines and even this has me pulling my hair out. Some days I feel like it would be better if I didn't talk to her because I'm just so wound up tight about the whole situation I'd lose it.

I know it's worth the wait because she is the only girl I've been with who didn't try to change something about who I was, which is my number one put-off. I really enjoy the lack of 'mind games' with her. She doesn't hold grudges, but has an uncanny ability to tease about my goof-ups at the most 'convenient' times to put me in check. "OK, you remember that time you ....." oops! After, we have a good laugh :) It makes me smile just thinking about it.

  6. From what my fiancee experienced, it was the questions that were the easy part. Normal questions, when/where/how did you meet, how many times has he seen you/when did he come back, when do you plan on getting married. Nothing off the wall like fav color, food, or what side of the bed I sleep on. He was just overly scrutinizing of gaps in evidence (which were the times I was in Thailand and cross country for the Marines and was out of contact, but she knew this), and discrepancies from the USCIS side to the consular side. Only thing I can think of was a mis-spelling of her mother's first name on the G-325A and he basically told her that she was lying to me, what an @$$. It's bull chips and there's nothing I can do about it.

If it doesn't get approved, I'll file for a waiver and if that fails, we can marry and try again. Maybe then they'll know we are serious. We had about 30 photos of us together and with family, 20+ pages of call logs, and 20 screen shots of video chats and messenger logs. He didn't mention anything about lack of evidence, so I wouldn't sweat it. Just make sure you have ALL the required documents. Read over packet 3 and 4 multiple times. That seems to be the kicker for most people, especially if they live in northern Thailand and have to make a one-day trip to the local amphur to get anything.

  7. I emailed the embassy about the status and all they could say is that it was under AR and no other info was given. The interviewer hinted at a discrepancy between the i-129f and ds-230/ds-156 not lack of evidence. It's probably a misspelling or a checkbox. I really wish they would just tell me what it is so the problem could be rectified. It's very frustrating. Right now my finacee is not in the best of spirits, thinking that it's her fault she didn't get the visa.

  8. How long did it take the embassy to get the documents from the time that you got the letter from the NVC? It's been since the 18th of december when the NVC said they sent it out to Bangkok, but the embassy keeps telling me that they have not received any documents for our case. Should I be worried? Maybe it's just the holidays...
