Settled back into life here in the UK, and thankfully been working since i got back...hoping to work for at least the next 3weeks to save the pennies!

So glad that you're all keeping your heads above water and surviving the 2nd round with USCIS, at least after this bout you can relax for 2years and enjoy married life!

I am sorry if i've missed anyone, been such a long time since i've been on here!

    xx

  4. Is your wife the USC? Confused as to why you both need police checks...what am i missing?

My military record was sufficient rather than having to get the police checks for every place i had served.

You wouldn't need to get a police check for your wife for Cyprus as it was under 12months.

The German police cert i understand can take upto 6weeks to come through, sorry i really don't know where you apply too to get it.

  5. Aww, I bet you're so excited Dawn!

In other great news, Sebastian found a job! It's only part time and doesn't pay quite as well as we'd hoped, but it's in his field and directly across the street from our apartment so there's no transport worries with him not having a car (or a drivers license). And our AOS was touched today, which means someone is at least looking at the green card application.

I hope things are going well with all of you! xx

Congratulations on him getting a job.

  6. Thank you Jenny.

Everyones support has been awesome. I will post pictures of Anya Sophia as soon as she is born...unless she looks like an alien and then i may wait a few days!!

    xx

LoL! newborns are so precious! even the aliens! :P Anya..thats beautiful, never heard that name before. When are u due?

The name is a shortened version of Tatianya, it's a Polish name so using it in honour of my beloved Grandad.

Due 23rd Sept, so 2/3rds of the way through now!

  7. Thank you all for your warm wishes. I will make sure i stop by to keep a check on all your progresses and share in your good news.

At the moment i just feel so stupid that i didn't see what he was really like before i gave up everything and came over here, but that will go with time.

I'm just gonna concentrate on me and the little one and we will get through all this.

You are all really great people and it has been a privilege to know you all. xx

you are not stupid! sounds like you were deceived. a lot of ppl in "normal" relationships (meaning, not long distance) find out when they get married that their spouse isnt who they thought. take care of urself and ur little baby n keep us posted! we love u here! (L)

    Thank you Jenny.

  9. Well i have thought long and hard before deciding to post in here, as i know that it should only be good news...

I was just going to keep posting as if i was in the US, but i am moving back to the UK on the 23rd June, but i will keep checking in to see how you are all doing with your applications.

Unfortunately i am a victim of having a long distance relationship, and despite dating Rob for 2years i obviously didn't really know him at all.

Since i moved over in Feb and started living with Rob full-time it became apparent that Rob has a severe alcohol & drug problem, this has turned up a criminal record, and worse, that i again had no idea existed...so I am heading home as this is a situation i cannot put myself or my unborn daughter in any longer.

I want to wish everyone all the luck in the world, i have made some great friends here in the July '08 thread and wish everyone all the best.

    :luv:

  10. Good to hear, Meri. I hope it's working out for you. Keep us in the loop. :)

Not much different here, except a few headaches. Andy's last work day will be the 29th, and after discovering the miles we have put together I wanted to use them for a discount on his airfare (30K miles = $300 off). But that's it's own headache, as Delta/NWA is giving me such terrible customer care in trying to transfer the miles to one place. So until I get that figured out, I can't book a ticket.

The only two things I've heard in the job arena are a rebuff from a staffing agency (I'm not "local" enough) and notice that their e-mail system blocked my application attachments and to mail it to them. I remember this feeling well; the waiting and applying and feeling discouraged. Somehow it never gets any easier.

I asked my folks to keep an eye out for freelance opportunities for me, and I'm asking you guys for the same. If you know anyone that needs a logo, letterhead, a flyer, poster, newsletter, small business website, etc., I'd appreciate it if you sent them my way. I'll give my full attention and an ultra-cheap rate in return for my getting some additional experience under my belt. I can always send the print job to their local print/copy shop.

It's so good to see you all getting through your AOS process swiftly. I've been surprised how soon some of the EAD's are going through. A few months ago everyone was seeing 90 days. Now I'm regularly seeing 40-60 days. I wonder if USCIS is getting more efficient or if they're just seeing fewer applications.

    Aubrey

Really hope you manage to get Delta/NWA kicked into touch so you can get the ticket booked.

I will speak to my Uncle to see if he needs any work doing and will surely push him your way if he does.

  11. You can apply for your SSN at your local social security office. Best to wait 10 days or so after POE so that you show up on their system. You apply for EAD and AP with your AoS.

Good luck with the wedding :)

my green card finally arrived in the mail today! yay!

:wow: ....people are getting approved real fast  and getting their ead and ap cards just as fast as well. im hoping that we have that kind of luck when it comes to the EAD.

we have our bio apt for the 19th...hopefully its a quick approval and card production

good luck to everyone else waiting for their card productions and GCs

If you're wanting to speed things up why not roll-up for your biometrics appt early? I went for mine almost a week before i was scheduled.

Once you have your appointment letter most places will allow walk-ins.

  12. Question for you guys: How did you deal with your non-USC's finances? Andy and I are trying to figure out how best to access his money and close his account once he's in the U.S., but coming up short on ideas. His current bank does not even offer online banking...

Does he have a credit card that draws money directly out of his bank account? These can be used in an ATM, although i had to advise the bank that i would be in the US or they would have frozen the card for security.

I transferred money to my account here before i left the UK.

What service did you use for the transfer?

I used a company called HiFx, they gave me the best rates ans reimurse you if you get any US bank charges for transferring money into the account. From sending them the money i had the $'s in my account within 2days.

But as Cham said there is always Paypal!

Mohammedwalks...so glad that you are reunited and having such a fantastic time x

  14. Well I've had a result today! The company that I worked for in the UK have offices here in the US, and so I figured it wouldn't do any harm to touch base with them and submit my resume and reference. Well, I got a call from their HR department this morning - interview Monday!! W00t, W00t!!!!

Things are coming along very nicely. B)

Great news, good luck for Monday.

  15. It can take London Embassy 3weeks to input the details on their system. Have you asked if everything is showing on the system as complete and just awaiting an interview date?

I think from our pkt3 being received and entered onto the system and an interview date was about 5weeks
