  1. Ugh!! Just when I thought everything was moving smooth....our case status on USCIS says that they sent out an RFE on 11/10/08!! Unreal! Anyone have any idea what it could be? I was sure everything was sent in. I don't know. We even received our NOA 1's for both AOS and EAD, and Val's biometrics is scheduled for Tuesday 11/18. I guess we won't know for sure until we actually receive the RFE in the mail. Wish us luck!

  2. What's up everyone. Nice to see everybody moving along in their processes! Val went a couple weeks ago for her SSN and we didn't have any problems here in San Diego. We went in at 9:00 and were out of the office by 9:30. Pretty painless. Haven't received it yet, but it should be here soon. And she was able to use her new name. We just took the marriage certificate, along with her I-94, and that was all we needed. It's crazy how each city seems to have different procedures. You'd think it would all be the same. Anyways- we also received our NOA 1's for the AOS and for the EAD (after a minor setback due to an expired form) so that's good. She has her biometrics appointment on Tuesday, and we'll be a step closer! Everything is moving so fast now compared to the K-1 process. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it continues!

  3. Well we sent back our "new" EAD form with the revised date to Chicago and it was delivered on 11/1. But, we still haven't received our NOA1 for the EAD. Valerie has her biometrics for AOS next Tuesday on the 18th. Hopefully we get the EAD NOA1 before them, but what are the chances we can get both biometrics done next week....especially if we don't have the EAD form back yet. Will they be able to look it up on the computer? It would be nice if we could get both biometrics knocked out on the same trip!

  4. What's up everyone?! Good news and Bad News....The Good News: We received our NOA 1 for AOS. The Bad News: They rejected the EAD, because it was filled out on an outdated form! (1 month difference) Ugh! But, no biggie, we are going to be submitting the new EAD Form today, so it shouldn't be too much of a delay! We'll see.

P.S. Where do we go to view the spreadsheet?

When they sent you the REF about outdated form, did they send you the new FORM as well? because i can not find new form online. So my EAD is also an outdated form.

No they didn't send the new form. They just stapled the rejection notice along with the EAD form we submitted. If you go to USCIS website, they have the form that is to be used. The date at the top still says "Expires 8/31/08", but what they are referring to is the date on the bottom right corner. We used the form that was revised on 4/8/08 (which is the one on Visa Journey). They evidently are using the form that was revised on 5/27/08!

So stupid, they look exactly the same! But, I guess the barcode on the bottom of the page tips them off!

  5. What's up everyone! Here we go again, huh? Nice to see that another forum has been set up for us to keep tabs with everyone on. The K1 Forum was so helpful during our process, and also comforting to communicate with others going through this seemingly endless journey. Valerie and I were married on October 3rd, and just filed our AOS and EAD yesterday, October 20th. So fingers are crossed for another "problem free" process. Good luck to everyone, and we'll talk to you soon!

  6. What's up everyone? Valerie and I were married on October 3rd here in San Diego, and just got back yesterday from our honeymoon in Hawaii!! What a wonderful last 2 weeks. All of the waiting, and anticipation, as much as it sucked, was well worth it! We had a beautiful wedding and we are both still on cloud 9!

And now the filing process begins again!!...Ugh! One quick question. On the AOS Forms (I-485, G-325A), will Valerie use her new married name or continue to use her maiden name? Any feedback would be great. We are trying to get everything completed this weekend so we can begin our next immigration journey "together"! Thanks.

  7. most likely....GROSS haha

Thanks for the support! I will ask my friend to get me some antibiotics. And yes carlawarla that's exactly what happened last time back home, toothache, dentist told me he had to pull it, gave me antibiotics, pain went away and I never got around to going back to getting it pulled (outta pain outta mind I guess)...now I'm paying for it! WAH :(

Also about the ads, I used to work for MSN ads, and it is crazy how much info we had access to. We could program it so ads would display based on any recent searches that were made, status changes on facebook etc. Like did you notice as soon as you changed your status from single to engaged on facebook you started getting non-stop ads for wedding stuff. Pretty crazy how much they know about you, once you sign on to your hotmail....

  8. That's it. Took about 1-2 hours.

tee hee.. hubby's situation was similar - he had no problems with it at all.. no pain meds either to speak of after the actual root canal was completed (although the dentist said there wasn't much living in that area anyway). We thankfully have a Dr. that would allow us to pay in installment plans.

The root Canal surgery cost $300.00 (after insurance) and the crown cost us $600 (after insurance).. bah.

Ha! So funny you guys are talking about this today...I just woke up with the worst toothache! I've only been in the states 5 days, no insurance...and I know it's a stupid wisdom tooth that has been surfaced for years and should have been pulled. It's infected and it's spreading down the side of my throat. With no insurance I think I'm just going to wait it out....have a doctor friend here, maybe he can hook me up with drugs for the time being. Oh and I'm one of those with like 18 filled cavities from when I was a kid! But my teeth are white and straight, gotta love braces!

  9. Congratulations boohbah!!

And yes, the same financial info is needed for I-864 :(

    thanks!

oh poo! thanks for letting me know. i'm going to go ahead & start collecting that stuff at some point then. rather have it all way ahead of time for the next round!

Congratulations Boohbah! I'm so happy for you! What are your plans from here? When's he coming, when's the wedding? YEAH!!

  10. Thanks! I could hardly stand being at work tonight. My nerves are completely shattered! Thank god I got today off, I'm going to most likely be awake all night. He's supposed to call me when he gets to the embassy & after his interview is over. o.O

He should be well prepared with everything else he has. I brought him the organizer I put together & stuff. I hope they don't tell him to come back another time...because he's traveling 7 hours (bus) just to get to London. :s

We also went over the papers today via phone & I tested his knowledge about the papers. I told him to take this & this out...asked him random interview questions, just to be an ###...;)

"BABE! Don't worry, I'll ace this." We'll see. lol

Haha! Yes I'm sure he will!

  11. My fiance's interview is tomorrow. I feel like I am about puke...still. lol

I am worried about the i-134 papers...i only submitted last years stuff for both me & the co sponsor...she couldnt get her bank statements...AHHHH

I wish I could be with him for the interview. :(

Good Luck Boobah! I'm sure everything will be fine. Just remind your fiance to be organized, that seemed to help us a lot. The girl ahead of me was missing half her stuff and was totally unorganized, the interviewer told her to come back the next week when she was better prepared :( oops.

  12. Thanks for all the support guys!

Sunny-ok NOW congratulations! Hope you get that date soon! They ended up emailing us our date well before the letter came in the mail. Maybe they'll do the same for you...check that junk mail!

Jeroen-I can see how living with your mom may not help your stomach situation...Justin and I are So looking forward to our honeymoon in Hawaii. I can't believe you'll get to be there permenantly! Just imagen yourself relaxing on the beach and maybe you'll start to feel better ;) well it can't hurt anyway, better just take the medication.

    Fly safely Olga!

Rachel-you need to start carving a tally into your wall. I'm sure the time will fly by.

Heather- Hope you and Levi have a safe trip!

So Justin and I are back in San Diego Yeah! It was so funny when we crossed the border and I was admitted on my K-1. We drove across and it was an unusually busy day. So after waiting in the car an hour, we went inside and waited in line for 30 mins. Then we were called up to the desk and the guy was sooo mean! He was just a total ### and I could see Justin was ready to punch him. (But luckily didn't). We were told to sit back down and we saw the guy chatting and fooling around and NOT proccessing my paperwork! Well about an hour later he calls us up again.

At that point his attitude had totally changed, he was sooo nice and overly apologetic...haha he must have opened the package and seen that Justin is a Supervisor with the Department of Homeland Security (same as this guys department, although Justin's job is different). Too funny...he was ready to kiss our feet! Anyway, he gave me the whole candid Hollywood "Welcome to the United States of America! " I was like whatever buddy, gimme back my passport so I can get to SD!

    We laughed.

Getting ready for the wedding in 3 weeks now. Picked up our marriage license at the county and have meetings with vendors set up all this week. Getting excited.

  13. WE RECEIVED AN EMAIL TODAY WITH OUR INTERVIEW DATE!!! September 10! Valerie called me this afternoon and had me check my email. Sure enough, there it was.....

"We have received the fax you sent us and has updated your file for correct address. Your appointment letter for your interview on 10 September 2008 is being mailed to you. Please bring all your original documents along with their photocopy on the day of your appointment.

    Thank you.

    K Visa Unit

    Vancouver, BC"

Such a relief!! It's a big weight off our shoulders, just wondering if we'd be able to get our interview date scheduled before the wedding. So October 3rd, here we come!!!

  14. Anyone...as far as the police certificates go, packet 3 states that the beneficiary needs a police certificate from anywhere they have resided for more than 6 months. But, on many other sites, including the Dept. of State, I see that it is 6 months within the beneficiary's country and over 1 year for any other country. So which is it for the K-1? Other country, 6 months or 1 year? Does anyone have a definitive answer?

  15. Justin did you guys get packet 3 yet?

YES!! Finally! And it was just like you said it was going to be. I sent an email to the consulate in Vancouver inquiring about the status of our file since it was going on 3 weeks. And then this afternoon, when we thought it was lost :), Valerie was thrilled when she went to get her mail...PACKET 3! She called and got her name on the list for her medical in Vancouver for next Wednesday. They emailed her the forms and stuff, and now she's ransacking her boxes trying to dig up her vaccination list. She knows that she's had all of the vaccinations they need, but hasn't found her card yet. If she can't find it, can she just get the shots again? I hope so. It says that if she can't provide proof, she has to bring a blood test with her....from elsewhere. And that takes around 10 days to get done. Hopefully, she can find it or they can give them to her again. We really don't want to have to reschedule.

But, we have all the forms already filled out and ready to fax back to them, so we'll get those back out either tomorrow or Thursday, and then the wait for the interview date begins! I can't beleive we are finally here....not much longer! I am just praying we can get our interview by mid September!

Just a little sidenote....where in Missouri do you live? I was born and raised in Iowa (Des Moines) and we used to go down to Kansas City every year. Have family down there. And then in college, we always made a trip down to the Ozarks every summer for a weekend out at Party Cove! Fun times, :)

  16. Andddddd we got an RFE.....OY VEY hahahaha! I am just giddy our case is being fondled though let me tell you! Gareth assured me this is a GOOD thing and hopefully we will finally get our approval now once we get this sorted!!!! I am just beyond irritated they waited 193 days to give us one of these! LOL.....can I call right today then to find out what it was you think that is needed?

Thanks again for all your continued support!

Sunny, great to hear that you've finally got some action, but sorry it's not the NOA2! Just wanted to let you know what Valerie and I put in our file when we submitted it. A lot of the things that people say can wait until the interview, we put in from the beginning. These include: flight itineraries, hotel receipts, photos from all of our trips and letter of intent. I must admit, I've thought at times it was kind of a pain and a little #######, but everything seemed to fly for us. Typically, from what I've read, that's what the RFE's are...more proof of the relationship. i.e. that you've seen each other within the past 2 years. Also, old emails or cell phone bills will help too. Send them in and make copies for the interview as well. Good luck!

  17. Wishing you all the best for tomorrow Pam :)

Levi Heather: Since you are going through the Vancouver Consulate as well, I thought you might be able to answer my questions and concerns. Valerie and I received notification from NVC that our file had been sent to Vancouver on 7/9/08. Here it is two weeks later and we haven't received our packet 3 yet! I know your timeline shows it took two weeks, so I guess it's normal. Val lives right outside Vancouver, so I guess I was hoping that it wouldn't take nearly as long. Anyways- we are planning on getting the checklist and the DS-230 faxed back the same day or the next after receiving the packet. But, I'm starting to get a little paranoid, because we have our wedding booked for October 3, and even though it's still 2 1/2 months away....I'm praying for an interview date in September!! Are you aware of the current interview dates being scheduled? This process has been driving me crazy ALL of 2008!! I'm just looking for a little relief!

  18. We received two seperate letters from the NVC stating that they have sent our file to the consulate in Vancouver. One is dated 7/11 and the other 7/14. Anyone else receive two letters? Probably nothing, as long as it has been sent! :)

Also, when I spoke with the NVC last week they stated that they sent it out on the 9th. It's been 9 days. Is there any way to find out if our file has been received by the consulate in Vancouver without being too much of a nuisance? We're just eager to get Packet 3 and get it back to them ASAP. With our wedding October 3, the sooner the better!!
