  1. I had my visa interview at the US embassy in Seoul this morning.

I was told that my visa will be issued in 5 days.

Interview questions were very simple and plain.

The consul only asked when we first met and when we got married.

I brought my passport, DS-156 (2), DS 230 Part I, SEO97, medical exam document, police certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificate, family relation certificate, receipt of visa processing fee ($131), and translations of all non-English documents. For affidavit of support, I brought I-134(notarized) and a letter from my husband's employer. I also brought an album to prove our relationship, but the consul didn't ask it.

I am so excited about seeing my husband real soon.

  2. Congratulations!

To find out the status of your case at NVC, you need to talk to live operators there (603-334-0700). Early morning is a better time to call. Otherwise, you will hear "since all our operators are busy ...", and be sent back to the automated response menu numerous times. You can also email NVC at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov, but don't expect a response.

I don't think anything will be changed on the USCIS website, and even when you call, they can only tell you that they approved your case.

NVC will take 2~4 weeks (if not, up to 90 days) before it forwards your case to the US embassy in your country.

    Good luck.

  3. It has been very painful and frustrating time for me and my husband.

    However, we finally see sunshine.

Our I-129F petition was approved on May 5, and I-130 petition on May 6, 2008 by the USCIS.

For some reason, our case wan't entered into the NVC computer system for almost three months.

I truly thought that our case got lost.

Yesterday was the 91st day of the approval, and we were going to ask the USCIS to send a copy to the NVC.

So we both called the NVC, and heard surprising news that our case was complete and sent to the embassy on July 30.

Soon after I talked to an NVC operator, I also got email response to my email that I sent a long time ago. It has our case number.

Today my husband got e-Packet (SEO 3.5) from the US embassy in Seoul.

With the case number assigned, I submitted online interview scheduling form.

In less than two hours, the embassy sent me e-Packet4 with a specific interview date (8:30 a.m. on August 25), a little more than two weeks from today.

I am so excited to see my husband soon.

I have a question. In E-PKT4, it says that I need to bring 'Affidavit of Support (I-134)' for the interview.

My husband thinks that he sent affidavit of support when we sent our I-130 or I-129F petition to the USCIS.

After the approval, the USCIS sent back all the documents we submitted to my husband.

Can I bring the same affidavit of support (I-134) to the embassy interview?

Or does he have to fill out the I-134 form and sign it again for my embassy interview?

    Thank you in advance.

  4. Thank you all!! I am now super excited.

Since everything has been so slow, I thought the embassy would also take a long time to receive our case.

The USCIS took over four months to receive our I-130 petition, and another four months to approve our I-130 and I-129F petitions.

After then, the NVC took 86 days to enter our case into their computer system and send it to the embassy.

However, after we finally got our case number, things seem to go so fast.

The NVC assigned case # on July 30 for our approved I-129F petition, and my husband got e-Packet today (August 5) from the embassy in Seoul.

With the case number assigned, I submitted online interview scheduling form.

Surprise! In less than two hours, I got the interview date, August 25, about two weeks after today.

I heard that in my country, the visa will be issued in a week after the interview.

I hope I can be with my husband in the first or second week of next month.

  5. Hi all,

I just called the NVC, and finally got good news. It has been very long waiting after the approval of our I-129F petition.

Our I-129F petition was approved on May 5, but for some reason, the NVC didn't receive our case for a long time.

Although NVC operators said that it would normally take 2~4 weeks, but ours took over 12 weeks (86 days).

I called the NVC so many times, but I gave up calling a week ago

because I truely believed that the NVC or the USCIS had lost our case.

Also most operators were mean, which made me a little nervous whenever I called.

I am so happy that our case is finally moving.

I want to know how long it usually takes for an embassy to receive the case from the NVC,

and how the embassy conacts me (through email or mail).

I hope I can get the interview date and the K-3 visa as soon as possible.

Are there anything I can do to make the process move faster before I get contacted by the embassy?

Thank you very much for your advice in advance.

  6. same here approved 5/30/08 but until now no hard copy recieve.Called uscis saying they sent to nvc.Calling nvc then they said they dont have the file yet. :crying:

*sigh* NVC and USCIS are really disappointing us. I mean I know they're processing a lot of papers but it's just not right that those people who were ahead of us got there NVC letters while us earlier than them still hasn't got any.

    They're being unfair you know.

I'm trying to be calm and relax and just keeping the faith but still I can't help it not to be frustrated. I do understand your feelings Lea. Let's just pray for the best. I wonder how you managed to handle yours since it's already 2months. I think I'm going to get crazy with that too not just me but also my fiance. We're really sick and tired of waiting since the start of this processing. *sigh*

Let's just pray. That's all we can do I guess.

    till then

Talking or sending email inquiries to NVC operators doesn't seem to do anything. The only thing the operators can do is to read the status that comes up to their computer system. I sent 7 email inquiries in the last couple of weeks, and got no response. :( It has been extremely painful to be separated over for two YEARS since our honeymoon. The first year was for my career, but the second year of separation wasn't my decision. Since the first year of separation was so tough than we expected, we decided to get together, but we didn't know the visa process would be like this. The USCIS took 4 months only to receive our I-130 petition. When our I-129F and I-130 petition got approved, we thought we could finally get reunited soon. But two months later, I am still waiting the NVC only to receive the approved petition.

We both are almost sick now. Especially, my husband goes through the most critical and toughest moment in his life. He said he felt like there's nobody on his side, and even the only person (me) he thinks really cares about him is far away. I feel so bad that I can't be with him to support him there. He was always with me when I needed him, but I don't/can't. I am trying hard to calm down. That's all we can do, right?

I hope we all here in this form get together with their loved ones soon.

  7. people say things when they are hurt or desperate.. just like I do.. don't be too critical of him/her.. but like they said, wait until the 90 days are over, then you can "complain" all you want to USCIS.. :D

Thank you for your reply, gogo.

I thought there might be some ways to expedite this process. I know waiting is the only thing I can do, but my heart doesn't understand it (Emotion sometimes overwhelms reason). It's getting tougher and tougher to deal with depression. I'm even feeling physical pains too. I hope this process will get faster. I would feel better if NVC at least receives our case.

  8. They have 90 days to send your case to NVC once it has been approved. It has not been taking that long for most cases, but there are some that get lost in the cracks. You can request a formal inquiry after the 90 days.

There's really not much you can do but wait at this point.

How is it you were "forced" to live apart? Prevented by some government or did you simply chose to remain in the USA for your own reasons?

My wife would have been unable to join me in the US during the visa process and I chose, for the good of my family, to stay in the US and work. Nobody forced us to live apart. We chose that and both knew that would be the circumstances at the time we decided to marry foreigners.

Sorry, if my words were too strong. I am just very sad and depressed. I don't understand why you thought I might have chosen simply to remain in the USA for my own reasons. I met my husband in a graduate school in the USA, fell in true love for the first time in my life, and got married there after my graduation. I could have stayed legally on OPT to search for a job, if I wanted to stay. But I didn't. I have lots of things I don't want to leave behind in my country. I wouldn't choose to go to America if my husband was not there.

Yes. I KNEW that I had to be away from my husband for a while, waiting for the visa processed, but I didn't expect it would be this long. It's just too painful. My husband and I spent almost everyday together for the two years of dating. Although we've talked to each other on the phone almost everyday for the last two years, it's not enough. I want to be with him, able to hug and kiss him. So I just try to find a way to expedite this process, if there is.

  9. Our I-129F case was approved on 05/05/08 by the USCIS.

I've been married to my husband (U.S. citizen) for over two years,

but we are still forced to live apart due to this snail-paced visa process.

Although our case was approved 8 weeks (57days) ago,

the National Visa Center still says that they haven't received it.

Our I-130 petition was approved on 05/06/08, but it hasn't been received either.

I have talked to NVC operators every week, and my husband talked to the USCIS operators twice.

I believe our case is either missing or buried somewhere at the NVC office.

NVC operators didn't provide much help. They only repeated that I had to wait up to 90 days.

I went to the U.S. on B2 in January and stayed with my husband about for three months.

Although I could stay for 6 months legally, I came back to wait for K-3.

I liked to follow the rules of US immigration system. That's why I voluntarily came back to my country.

However, I feel like I am being punished for following the rules.

Is there any way to make the NVC to search for our case?

  10. we Got aproved on K3, 130 on 13/june/2008 ;, and 129 got aproved on 17,june.so we call NVC but it said no record about them. i wonder when and hwo can we know that petitios are on NVC..

can anyoen help plz and sugges what can be done? i want to follow K3 which is faster and ignore 130

    need help write to me

Our I-129F petition for K-3 was approved on 05/05/2008, but the NVC hasn't received it yet. I talked to operators at NVC several times, but they just said wait up to 90 days. They didn't provide much help, and they were so mean.

  11. As I recall, ours took a little over a month at NVC (34 days or so), and others were being processed much faster than ours, so I also became more than a little concerned and frustrated. They aren't very helpful on the phone, and only said I could continue to wait or contact USCIS.

I couldn't find someone at USCIS who would verify that the documents were, in fact, sent. USCIS offered only the option of spending another $400 filing a petition for action on an existing case, which basically is an expensive way of asking them to investigate themselves. These petitions are subject to the same delays as every other category of petition (months).

My understanding is that the delay you are seeing is related to relatively mundane data entry... there's a big pile of things in their mailroom, and they move rather slowly. However, it didn't take very long to get the packet once NVC sent the documents to the embassy.

Thank you so much JasonTrue. What you went through sounds almost exactly the same as I am going through right now. Nobody at NVC or USCIS was very helpful on the phone. The NVC just asked me to wait, or contact the USCIS even when I told the operator my husband already did so. And the USCIS didn't verify that the documents were actually sent. They just could tell that they approved our petitions on a specific date, but nothing more. I am getting so frustrated and anxious. Thank you again. Your information helps me a lot cope with stress. I hope NVC workers will pick up my case out of the big pile soon.

Also thank you, Thai Family and Kilun.

  12. I feel helpless, and start getting emotional breakdown. I've lived apart from my husband for over two years since a few days after our honeymoon. It took over three months until the USCIS received our I-130 petition. As soon as we finally got the receipt of I-130 petition in January, we filed the I-129F petition. The USCIS finally approved our I-130 and I-129F petition on 05/05/2008 (about three months for the approval). I checked the status of our case every day online, and when I saw that it's been approved, I was so excited and happy. I thought I could come to see my husband soon.

I didn't know that the NVC took such a long time just to receive our approved petition. It has been 6 weeks since the USCIS approval, but the NVC hasn't received it yet. NVC operators just repeat that I should wait up to 90 days. Does it seem to be so easy to be away from the one you really love? They asked me to call the USCIS, so I did. I didn't know only the petitioner could call. Since I am the beneficiary, they can't talk to me. Right now my husband is extremely busy, but I have to ask him to call anyway.

Is there anyone whose case wasn't even received by the NVC over 6 weeks? Is there anything I can do? The mean NVC operator I talked to said nothing but to wait. I just feel so sad. :crying:

If CFC followed normal procedures, they approved both petitions the same day and sent only the I-129F petition to NVC. NVC's automated system never has any information on an I-129F for spouse. If you are giving NVC the I-130 case number, they may never get it. Have you checked the case number for the I-129F?

Thank you very much for your reply. When I talked to operators at NVC and email them, I provided them with the USCIS receipt number of our approved I-129F petition. I double checked if the receipt number was correct at the USCIS website. It was correct. I am very worried and nervous.

Do they have your I-130 at the NVC?

I haven't checked on my I-130 case at the NVC. I don't know whether they have it or not. I've just focused on my I-129F petition for K-3. Thank you.

  15. Definitely call and talk to an operator at the NVC. You cannot find out about K-3s through the automated line. There are fewer busy signals later in the evening. The nice operator there told me I could call anytime I needed to! My kids were approved at CSC on May 8th and the NVC received the I-129F on May 15th. There is no record of the I-130, but they had been very clear that they were applying for a K-3, so the USCIS probably held it captive so they can do more work and rake in more AOS fees.

I just called the NVC and talked to an operator, who sounded very mean. I am about to cry. Once again, the operator just said that they haven't received our approved petition. She said it usually takes 2~4 weeks for the NVC to get the petition from the USCIS, but sometimes takes longer; therefore you should wait up to 90 days. I asked her whether there was any way to make this faster. She repeated that there was nothing they can do until they receive it. It was already bad news, and her mean voice made me feel much worse. I really miss my husband because we have lived apart over two years since our honeymoon. I was so happy that our case was finally approved at the USCIS, but I didn't expect that I had to wait another three months at the NVC. :crying:

  16. Hi all,

I'm very concerned about my K-3 case. My I-129F petition was approved on 05/05/2008.

It has been more than 40 days (6 weeks) from the approval, but the NVC still has no record of my case number.

How long did your guys' cases take to be processed at the NVC?

My case seems to take much longer than most other K-3 cases in this forum.

I emailed four times to the NVC last week but no response.

So I am going to call the NVC again to talk to an operator next morning. So I want to have a sense of how long it usually takes.

I just want to live with my husband, but this process takes such a long time... :crying:

I always get enormous help from here. Thank you very much.

  17. I don't think that the NVC processes cases in order of arrival. Our I-129F petition for K-3 was approved on 5/5/08, which is even a week earlier than your case. However, the NVC automated response system still says that there is no record of our case. I totally understand how you feel when you watch most other K-3 cases being processed within two weeks, but you're still hearing the same recorded message; "there is no record of your case."

I talked to an operator at the NVC, but all he said was to wait for up to 90 days. It made me kind of upset because I spent two hours making so many phonecalls to reach an operator. Most of the times I called, I was automatically switched back to the recorded voice message. I don't know why the system doesn't allow me to wait for live assistance. So I had to hang up the phone, and call up again and again. I also emailed the NVC three times about the status of our case, but I never got any answer from them.

I hope we can hear from the NVC SOON!!

  18. Ok, my I-130 was approved 5/21/08 and the NVC still has not received it. I see everyone elses time lines and they got NVC case numbers right away. Some one please help calm me down. I am scared

    something is going wrong.

Our case (I-129F) was approved 5/5/08(even earlier than yours), but the NVC still has not received it. I talked to an operator at the NVC, and my husband talked to an operator at the USCIS. None of those calls was much help. They just said, just wait for up to 90 days (implying that they have nothing to help you by then). I am also very anxious and frustrated. Yesterday was our second wedding anniversary, while we still live apart across the Pacific :crying:
