Hi all,
I recently submitted a EB2 NIW application. However, a family member (already in the United States) and a senior colleague of mine recommended me to consider the EB1 pathway.
I'm now considering filing one in the future if something goes awry with the EB2 process (e.g. delayed priority dates). Someone also mentioned that I can use my EB2 NIW priority date as my EB1 application also.
I am not immigrating until Jul-Sept 2029 (hence why I filed for EB2 NIW). I do not yet have a prospective employer.
My background is as follows:
From a ROW country
BSc, MSc, PhD and MD from a Canadian University (US equivalency documented).
Multiple first-author publications and other co-author publications (17 in total), with 900 citations to date. Google Scholar h-index of 13. One of the first-author publication is with a Ivy League university with a leading researcher.
3 patents, all licensed to a US-based biotechnology company, over 100 million dollars in series funding thus far.
Multiple awards including international research awards.
I sit on the editorial board of a major journal (major society journal) with multiple reviews.
Multiple letters confirming national importance from high-ranking people in my field, including those from the NIH.
National Interest would be research on cancer pharmacology and therapy, based on NCI mandates and recently funded NIH/NCI Moonshot grants.
My concern would be purely money-related (why pay more money if EB2 NIW may eventually go through) and time invested in another application.
Would appreciate any thoughts and input. Thank you.
