  1. I’m dealing with a confusing situation. I emailed the Israel embassy to have the police certificate sent to the consulate, which should have been done anyway, and we also got our own copy. Then I received a message saying, “Please replace this with an acceptable police certificate from the correct issuing authority. Please use our Document Finder at https://nvc.state.gov/find for acceptable documents guidelines.” It was frustrating because I followed their instructions and waited so long, only to get that response. Later, another message said, “The police certificate required for Israel does not need to be submitted through CEAC. The issuing authority will send the police certificate directly to the interviewing consulate or embassy. Please use our Document Finder at https://nvc.state.gov/find for acceptable documents guidelines.” Now I’m wondering—are there other police clearances I need to get, and if so, from where?
  2. I’m in the process of bringing my mom to the US. She worked in Israel for 18 years, retired a year ago, and returned to Manila. After submitting some requirements, they asked for a police clearance from Israel. I contacted the Israeli embassy, and they told me to email or contact the US embassy to request a letter for the police clearance. I’m confused—can I just write the request letter myself instead of having the US embassy do it? Has anyone else experienced this?
  3. I need help with the DS-260 form. I’m filling it out, but the problem is I only know the year her school started, not the exact day or month. Is it okay to leave it as is or just estimate, since it’s been so many years?
