  1. She is on EAD and working FT hence why we are thinking she comes to join me once things are more clear with my new employment . We have set a timeline of about 3 months max. to see how things would develop . But in the meantime would it be beneficial to show that I am still keeping our current permanent address as my mailing address in my USCIS profile ?
  2. I am an LPR and have filed I-130 for my wife who is also in the US. Just now, I have moved to a different state for employment while wife staying put at our permanent address in Connecticut for now (temporarily). That permanent address is what we both have listed in all our I-130 and I-1485 filings and in our respective USCIS online accounts. My current situation is that I might move back to CT if the new job in the different state does not work out well for me in the next 2, 3 months. For this reason, I am also not planning on changing my driving license. In this situation, do I still need to file the USCIS Change of Address (even if only for physical address change and not the mailing address)? and would this physical change of address cause our I-130 case to move to some other processing center and/or cause delays?
  3. So we should not expect an interview even if I-130 gets approved in the next 4 -5 months? No, am still LPR - got another 2.5 years to go for citizenship 🥴
  4. Hi All Can someone please help me understand the relation between dates shown in Visa Bulletin and the USCIS processing timelines. I've a case filed in F2A category for wife with PD of June 2024 (I-485 filed as well). In the latest Visa Bulletin Table A, the dates for F2A are at 01 Feb, 2024 so I figured our I-130 should come up for processing shortly in the next 2-4 months but following a Facebook page, people there said I should be waiting another 2 to 3 years instead as currently USCIS adjudicating I-130s filed in Sept 2022 for F2A. I always thought when the dates in VB crosses over a priority date, that means the visas are available for that category? If USCIS is still lagging behind, then how can applicant apply for AOS or consulates issue visas? Should I not expect USCIS to start reviewing our I-130 any time soon?
  5. Thank you. So I should see a change of status for I-130 some time in my online account when USCIS does take it up for processing.
  6. Online status doesn't show any meaningful status update. Earlier it used to give those completely unreliable estimates jumping from 2 months to 15 months every few days but even that has stopped a long while ago. The last update was when USCIS had sent the receipt for I-130 in July 2024.
  7. Thanks to all who took time out to read and reply. To answer most of them, at the time of filing I-130, we didn't have much proofs since we were still living apart but yes I've been building up relationship proofs steadily after we started living together like setting up a joint bank account, transferring some of the utilities to her name, photos from events, trips and car lease etc. I also put wife as beneficiary to my life insurance and 401K and will get the printouts when the time comes for interview. We used Table B. DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS to assess our eligibility to file I-485 somewhere in Sept/Oct 2024 when the F2A date in that table crossed over the PD from our filing of I-130. I would still love if someone can provide insight into my first question to figure out my own travel plans and absence from US. Once the PD becomes current, is that when USCIS starts to adjudicate I-130? Approx. how long does the process take in number of months?
  8. Hi All, First time posting here but have been reading up a lot to better educate myself with the nuances of immigration process. I am an LPR and my wife is also in the US on F-1 Student visa. She was already in the US on F-1 when we met through family connections and went back home Morocco to get married in late 2023. In June 2024 I filed I-130 in F2A category for her and then separately I-485 later in 2024. Going by the current Visa bulletin, I guess her PD should become current in the next 2-3 months and this is where I would like to know what would be the process for the next steps: Once the PD becomes current, is that when USCIS starts to adjudicate I-130? Approx. how long does the process take in number of months? In F2A category, are both I-130 and I-485 processed and adjudicated together or is this only reserved when petitioner is a USC? I keep reading about immigration interviews. Is that interview a part of I-130 processing or does USCIS asks to attend interview to approve I-485? If the interview is for I-485 processing, usually how much time is available from when I-130 is approved to when the interview is scheduled? Should we start collecting documentary evidence for bona fide marriage now e.g bank statements, lease documents, photos etc? or wait till later? I am asking these questions to better understand the steps involved in the upcoming process and be ready with all documentary evidence ahead of time since I am expecting to be out of the US in early Feb next year for work reasons for about 4-5 weeks.
