My wife and I got married last October via Utah Online wedding. She is currently living in Brasilia. We have apostilled documents such as marriage certificate/license. Wife is trying to register her marriage and name change in Brazil to get updated documents like passport, CPF, ID. She got the marriage certificate and license translated. However, she is having issues with the name change. She's at the local cartório, but because the marriage certificate we have only lists her maiden name, they won't allow her to change her name and get updated documents. The thing is US marriage certs list maiden names and not married names. What can we do?

She has a minor child. Would I be able to claim the child as a dependent or do they need a SSN?
