  1. teach him about the 5 major food groups in the usa:

instant, take out, frozen, microwaved, and canned.

lol sooooo true.. I prefer home cooked meals too but had to have a talk with mine.... when i am working 10 hours and come home to clean and care for the kids cooking dinner just isn't on my list of things to do... so he has taken it on.. whooooT!! perhaps when you talk to yours things will come out that can assist cause I am not sure cooking at 1 am would EVER be my cup of tea...Good luck

  2. Monica,

sounds like you're well on your path to getting out of it.. you will have good days and bad days... fill the empty time with studies, work and friends in the flesh. Make yourself if you have to and if he comes to your mind block it until thinking about him hisn't painful. those are my suggestions... We're here for you. as you heard his loss...

  3. He's going to get his feelings and pride hurt a lot. Hate to say it but it's true. My husband has been here 3 years now and it still happens to him. Although I'm sure she wasn't uber nice to him, I've noticed that at least with my husband even the smallest things make him feel so bad, meaning he expects different treatment then what is often presented. Also I think that here the style of business is just different. My husband wants to hear what he wants to hear, and he doesn't want to hear anything to the contrary. When presented with the realization that gee his skills really aren't that great and he needs to improve them he just says "oh well so and so they're just an a** or they're just racist". Well truth be told they're being honest. Although your husband really wants to work, can you enroll him in some class, or some career development things through the local job center? If he's taking ESL classes maybe he could get a job at the book store or cafeteria on campus to start things off. He can continue to apply for other jobs but in the meantime be building skills that he will need.

yeah signing him up for classes on thursday insha'allah for esl I suggested he go out for walk and now he even hesitates to go to the masjiid for events because "they all speak english" .. ummmmm well we are in the u.s.??? Anyway, we're working on it... thanks for your suggestions though i appreciate it.

  4. I say let him get any job just to get himself working and feeling like he's contributing to the household. Then work on getting his confidence up, his language skills up from ESL and being around Americans, and then I think he will want to find something more!

yes I agree.... so I am pisssssssed he went to McDonalds with my 16 yr old son and the supervisor there totally made him feel like #######. She was in a hurry so she spoke super fast (hard for my husband) and only made him feel worse about his skills, then when he gets in the car we had this funny round and round conversation similar to Abbot and Castello so my kids started chuckling but he didn't see it that way..... he went the rest of the night feeling like we were laughing at him I felt terrible and still do.. :crying: I have no idea what to do now....

  5. Jeanne - I actually agree with you, and I think Henna would too about too many actors are not given the notice that deserve. I have been on the verge of a boycott this year because I'm really pissed that Clint Eastwood was not given a not for Gran Torino. I think so much of his work in front of and behind the camera is incredible. The range his character went through in this film is unbelievable. BUT, I haven't missed an Oscar night yet!

My farm is definitely busy, however, I've been spending my time on Yoville too! Hicham is used to seeing me play The Sims or other PC games....he doesn't mind as long as I act like an adult when I need to!!!!:lol:

Off to finish up some house cleaning before the tornado arrives back home!

Hey to everyone I missed before! :)

Oh yeah, Dorthy...digg'in ur new pic too!

hay do I have you on my FB yet??
