  1. Absolutely. When I was doing research, people said K1 wait times used to be measured in years.
  2. Total or just the first part? That makes more sense. They are taking over a year now.
  3. Glad to here you had an easy visa experience. My wife's K1 visa was pretty easy to track and predict as well. Wonderful experience. However, I have a friend who is waiting for a K1 visa.... The first USCIS step for my wife took less than 2 months. Meanwhile, my friend has been waiting over 8 months just for the first step. K1 wait times have doubled, possibly tripled or quadrupled, going into 2025. They are left in a similar situation to us. Waiting and waiting and waiting with no updates or anyway to reach out. People are right here. There is no easy solution. Pretty much every solution will cost money. I am not an expert, and I am not the one to develop solutions. Unfortunately, with the current climate, I don't think anything will change for the better with USCIS.
  4. Not sure I agree with this. If they gave more regular communications, they would likely receive less inquiries. Essentially, they are leaving people on read. I do understand that there will be wait times though. Maybe adding a nice premium processing option for AOS could allow a communication line. Also, for the inquiries... They have been useless for me. If you try to make an inquiry before several years after you filed, they will just tell you to wait. So, there inquiry system is practically useless, at least for us.
  5. Absolutely. The lack of communication is abysmal. A better support line and communication would be sweet. Especially if we could communicate directly with a specific field office.
  6. Yeah, that is the way it is with most government processes. There is no ideal solution. I see your points. If only they could be more efficient with the funding they already have. As for #4, there will always be inequality in life. Premium processing or "gold cards" sound like a good way to increase funding. I actually like the gold card idea.
  7. I am fine with the fees. I am simply saying that USCIS should receive a little more funding.
  8. I would not upload anything unless asked. You should keep your tax records anyway regardless of USCIS. Don't worry about medical either.
  9. Not to mention that there have been lay offs as well this year. The biggest problem with USCIS is that it is funded almost solely by fees. Per a Google search, it is 96% fees and 4% Congressional appropriations. This is not a good funding structure for an organization with this responsibility.
  10. This means that someone at USCIS accessed your file on 10/3. Further details are unknown unless other updates were made. At least you know someone is still aware of your case. 😁
  11. I don't know how they calculate the inquiry questions date, but that is irrelevant to a Writ of Mandamus. 120 days is just typical internal USCIS policy. The vast majority of interviews have some action taken before the 120 mark.
  12. Sorry to hear that. We hit 4 weeks tomorrow and 30 days Sunday. Hopefully we all get updates soon. As for filing a Writ of Mandamus if you pass 100 or so days, I did a little more research on that. The filing fee should be about $400 to $600. Most lawyers will charge $5000-$10000 for this service. I absolutely cannot stomach the latter cost. There is a great DIY instruction thread on reddit. A quick google search and you can find it. The person who did this was successful. Do keep in mind, it is generally not recommended to do this on your own without a lawyer, but it is certainly possible. I personally would not file this until 120 days. 120 days is the standard USCIS "maximum" turn around time for an interview decision.
  13. Nothing new on our end so far. 4 weeks will be Thursday. 30 days will be Sunday. 🤞
  14. Be Patient, be patient, be patient. In case I forgot to mention it, be patient. Unfortunately, the hardest part about all this is the wait times. Also, sometimes cases can be vastly different than others. For example, most people who filed at the same time as us got their work permits within about 40-45 days. Very quick turn around time. However, there are a select few outliers who are still waiting for theirs. If for some reason you become an outlier, stay patient. We are currently an outlier for post interview wait time. Most people seem to get approval 24 hours after interview. However, we just hit 3 weeks today, and some others here are 60+ days into the wait. Stay patient.
  15. Good luck to them as well. I believe it is extremely rare to wait more than 120 days after an interview for a decision. If it gets to that point, it may be worth considering a writ of mandamus. With that said, I saw several cases on the sub reddit that were approved 90 and 100 days after their interview. I am not going to worry until we hit that 100 day mark.
  16. Good Luck. Today is 20 days for us, and tomorrow exactly 3 weeks.
  17. That was our thought process as well. Hopefully it will get someone to do something. 😁 Our officer told us everything was perfect and even gave us a timeline for the delivery of packet and GC in the mail. I wonder what the hang up is 🤷‍♂️ Montgomery Field Office is known for being quick. One person I know, and their family, got their naturalization approved in like 2 months. Granted, those are quicker anyway.
  18. That is interesting. Yeah, I figure the API update was related to the FOIA request. I wonder if the estimator drops the time as a response to the API update. 🤣
  19. Yes, I meant an FOIA request. I had saw some people on reddit doing this during the processing. Oh well. I don't think it will delay anything. We only requested a small amount of information, not the entire file. To my understanding, aren't these FOIA requests handled separately anyway? I was under the impression USCIS had dedicated FOIA staff to respond to these requests.
  20. We got an API update from Saturday.. "updatedAt": "2025-09-27", However, we did an FOIE request out of curiosity about a week, and they gave us acknowledgment Saturday. These could be related, but I am unsure. Otherwise, the only change I noticed was that the estimated time went from 30 months to 14 months. 🤣
  21. Best of luck to everyone. It's frustrating for sure to have to wait for so long after an interview. I have noticed though that some people get approval at exact times after an interview. 24 hours, 2 weeks, 1 month, 60 days, 100 days, etc. At least that is what I saw on the subreddit. Not trying to get anyone's hopes up though, just found it interesting.
  22. We may be in the same position now. Did you ever receive any update? You can also do the API check. I just checked ours, no API updates since interview was scheduled.
  23. Verbal approval, but still no update in the portal. 🙂 Hopefully it won't be months away. 😅
  24. Still no approval in the system. It is what it is. Not worried about it though, just giving an update.
  25. Good luck. Hope you get the notice soon.
